Black Prowler could work but that is mainly cause Miles wears mostly black spider suits, his invisibility and venom strike. Oh and cause he is a black superhero.

Ironically the whole overarching theme of the Spider-Verse Miles is that "this is my story, I write it," yet Miles in the comics is stuck in someone else's story.

His Peter had to die and he learned nothing from him in order to become his own Spider-Man (the direction he took for being Spider-Man came from someone that doesn't have a stake in his universe).

He's actually cool when written properly. He brings back the youth to the character that people romanticize about the way they remember Spider-Man at his debut (I personally see Peter Parker as a seasoned adult who has balance to his various personas these days, not the nerdy high schooler with day-to-day problems that compound his superheroics).

But he needs that divorce from the work Peter has done in the suit to really stand apart and stake his name on the Spider-Man legacy.

that's not about him being black tho, it's this

Exactly. Two successful animated movies, one winning an Oscar and the other expected to sweep the category come awards season. Appearances across all the cartoons. Toys all over.
You can't get rid of Miles any more than you can get rid of Jason Todd or Tim Drake or Damian Wayne.

            Anonymous

All of that happened because they couldn't get rid of him in his initial years when no one cared about him but he was black so they had to keep him around. He got the movies and the cartoons and the toys to try to make him stick, as opposed to because he was popular enough to warrant them like in every other popular character's case.

Imagine deciding "Azrael is going to be a thing" and sinking hundreds of millions into movies and toys and cartoons etc to make him a thing despite constant failure, even though no one ever wanted him, and then you start withholding Batman media so people are forced to buy Azrael and then he still doesn't sell and you double down anyway. It's the most ridiculous push of any character in the history of fiction.

              Anonymous

I understand that perfectly, but I'm guessing you can also understand why a company like Marvel/Disney/Sony won't get rid of a character this heavily featured now. It's simply too late for a complete scraping, the best we can hope for is a rebranding. It would be perfect if the next Spider-Verse movie would give him one, free from the Spider-Man title, because the normies love those movies and it would be easy to go from there

                Anonymous

Robin was far more heavily featured than Miles ever was and there's still tons of Batman media with a solo Bruce, whereas I feel Peter will never be free from Mileswank

you can very very easily get rid of any Robin that isn't Dick Grayson and even with him we haven't have any live action version of the dynamic duo in decades now, by and large the Idea of Robin is seen as to goofy and unnecessary to put in any real serious takes on Batman can't see Miles being any different in a few years if he's even still around by then.

Wow exactly like Miles in the first Spider-Verse, who got tiring really fast when he started being forced in literally every single Spider-Man thing ever and taking over Peter.

          Anonymous

In a way? Yeah. Scrappy was a hit who saved the Scooby Doo franchise in his first appearance because he, like the rest of the gang, had his own schtick. Because of the high returns, the studio kept asking for more and more of him until.
          >He was the one leading and setting the trap like Fred
          >He was the brains and found clues like Velma
          >He was the one motivating the group and getting captured like Daphne

People liked Spider-verse because it made Miles something other than Peter 2.0, making him a wide-eyed rookie having to take leaps of faith when he wasn't experienced enough to have the confidence Peter had gained while also having his own things that he cared about and viewing those he cared as his motivation for being Spider-man over than the balance of guilt and responsibility. Slightly weaker Spider-sense, additional powers.

Neither character actually needs to be "fixed", they need to be allowed to do their own thing and show their value without having to ape on the other characters schticks. Miles shouldn't be quipping like Peter or approaching situations like Peter, he's at his best when you feel like he's "stepping up" to whatever situation he's in even as he's nervous

Politician/the mayoe start fully supporting him and endorsing him, even JJJ, but are really using him as a tool to further their own agendas and spread division among New York to (web)swing votes and get power and Miles has to come to terms with the fact he is no longer a hero, a symbol for downtrodden blacks, but a tool for the rich and powerful's fake promises. He tries to unravel their lies after a crisis of identity and ditching the Spiderman name and becoming his own person. And is then killed by them and they frame it on Peter Parker to start riots.

In this scenario I imagine politicians convincing Miles he is.

They really tried to convince the audience he was in the PS4 Miles game. "He's OUR Spiderman!"

Best idea for a Miles story so far.

Make him a mutant, then he becomes their problem instead of Spider-Man's problem.

You think Insomniac as the balls to make Miles Otto's "Vessel" for 3?

Him becoming the (good guy) Prowler made a hell of a lot more sense than him being Spider-Man.

Funny thing is that there are prowling spiders too. Dude does even need to drop the spider motiff just rework to incorporate shit.

That actually sound cool. Just keep the black and red color scheme and have a spider themed costume would be good.
It would be awesome if he used his bioelectricity to charges gadgets too.

There is no 'fix' to him, except through replacement.
