Him becoming the (good guy) Prowler made a hell of a lot more sense than him being Spider-Man.
Funny thing is that there are prowling spiders too. Dude does even need to drop the spider motiff just rework to incorporate shit.
>prowling spiders
I had no idea that was a thing, there could be a cool name in there somewhere, even something as basic as Spider-Prowler sounds kinda cool
Black Prowler could work but that is mainly cause Miles wears mostly black spider suits, his invisibility and venom strike. Oh and cause he is a black superhero.
I think having Black in the name wouldn't really roll
Shadow Prowler? Haunted Hunter? Night Stalker? Night Spider? I really wish Gwen wasn't a ghost spider.Spider name mixes with prowler are hard.
Crawler
>Crawler
Could work but feels a bit slow as a name.
You really can't fix Miles. Any idea you can think of has already long been done with Spider-Man before.
Make him no longer exist and promote their pre-existing black heroes instead
it's been 12 years since Miles was introduced you guys gotta stop acting like he was just made a month ago
>it's been 12 years since Miles was introduced you guys gotta stop acting like he was just made a month ago
He was a total vanilla nothing all these years outside of a small blip with the first Spiderverse movie
All of Marvel's other black characters are more memorable and interesting.
>if you force something long enough and ignore people telling it (and you) to frick off it's now "established" and they now HAVE to like it
Go frick yourself you degenerate moron
Name your favorite miles comic, anon.
When he goes Beast Mode on Hammerhead for putting Bombshell in the hospital.
I forgot he existed until 2018
this is the correct answer
and yet kaine and ben reilly existed years before that
Cinemaphile would whine if any pre-existing black hero got a push.
If/ when (you can never tell with comics) Miles got killed off, he would be brought back.
Obvious. Make him pete's sidekick, until someone comes up with a good enough idea to give him is own War Machine role.
He needed the Ultimate universe to thrive. Trying to adapt him to a status quo set by a different character before him will always means he lives in their shadow.
Send him to Baltimore.
call him Spin like that kiddie cartoon show, all of the other official alternatives have been awful. that being said it's never gonna happen, marvel wants to push him as THE Spider-Man, you can see it with the movies and now video games
Ironically the whole overarching theme of the Spider-Verse Miles is that "this is my story, I write it," yet Miles in the comics is stuck in someone else's story.
His Peter had to die and he learned nothing from him in order to become his own Spider-Man (the direction he took for being Spider-Man came from someone that doesn't have a stake in his universe).
everyone can be spider-man chud
Shut up idiot.
I can't shoot webs or climb on walls, what then?
you just need to be like miles and have the exact same thing that happened to peter, happen to you! it's easy, anyone can do it
>everyone can be spider-man chud
If everyone is, than no one is
Learn to read
If everyone can be Spiderman would you be OK with SpiderHitler, SpiderRedneck, SpiderChud, etc?
This funniest part is that the first Spider-verse got this specific reception of
>Oh look! They finally differentiated Miles from being just another Peter!
And the second had that weird meta narrative of
>Everyone wants Miles to just be another Peter! Well, screw you guys!
Like, what exact complaints was it being meta about?
I would make him not be a scary chocolate man. Mommy please make the scary chocolate people go away. I'm scared, mommy.
Not here. Take your racisim down to pol.
Not really racist. I just dislike black people.
Mommy the chocolate people are scaring me. Make the chocolate people go away, mommy.
yes
13% of the population committing 50% crime around the world is terrifying
>Mommy the white chocolate people are scaring me. Make the chocolate people follow them around at all times so I'm not so scared, mommy.
This is how Miles came to be in the first place
Frick Black folk
Have him get into a relationship with Lori and Lana Baumgartner.
Now he has to choose between hot teen, mild or both.
Spider-man 2 and Into The Spiderverse confirmed that he's on the way to replace Peter and everyone seems ok with it
He's actually cool when written properly. He brings back the youth to the character that people romanticize about the way they remember Spider-Man at his debut (I personally see Peter Parker as a seasoned adult who has balance to his various personas these days, not the nerdy high schooler with day-to-day problems that compound his superheroics).
But he needs that divorce from the work Peter has done in the suit to really stand apart and stake his name on the Spider-Man legacy.
>He's actually cool when written properly. He brings back the youth to the character that people romanticize about the way they remember Spider-Man at his debut
Did you somehow forget the explicitly youth-focused MCU movies that made 4 billion dollars?
Given the shit Peter Parker had gone through because of Marvel i think finally killing him off would be a mercy. Especially after Sins Past and One More Day.
>I know nothing about Miles but let me complain about made up things because let’s be honest, he’s black and I just don’t like that
problem?
my guy I'm black myself, I like Miles and I can see that there's nothing original whatsoever about him. I've read the fricking books, watched the movies, played the games. the base is solid but he should be his own character
Web-slanger
Jungle Spider
Mack Daddy Longlegs
The Chigger
The Brown Recluse
Sheeit Webweaver
Traphouse Spider
Crack Rock Spider
Spider-Monkey
Black Widower
Grass Spider
Banana Spider
I really don't see why? You don't see anyone saying "how would you fix Paul" or "how would you fix Scrappy" or "how would you fix Andy in the Office" or "how would you fix Azrael" or "how would you fix Daken" or "how would you fix Poochie" etc
They're shit redundant characters, scrap them and move on, if they don't justify their existence in the story by default then they don't deserve to have time and effort wasted on creating justifications for their existence
the thing is, it's impossible to scrap Miles, maybe when he was comics-only
It shouldn't be, imagine Paul cucking Peter with MJ had to be a part of every Spider-Man storyline down the line simply because he's black, that would be ridiculous
that's not about him being black tho, it's this
All of that happened because they couldn't get rid of him in his initial years when no one cared about him but he was black so they had to keep him around. He got the movies and the cartoons and the toys to try to make him stick, as opposed to because he was popular enough to warrant them like in every other popular character's case.
Imagine deciding "Azrael is going to be a thing" and sinking hundreds of millions into movies and toys and cartoons etc to make him a thing despite constant failure, even though no one ever wanted him, and then you start withholding Batman media so people are forced to buy Azrael and then he still doesn't sell and you double down anyway. It's the most ridiculous push of any character in the history of fiction.
I understand that perfectly, but I'm guessing you can also understand why a company like Marvel/Disney/Sony won't get rid of a character this heavily featured now. It's simply too late for a complete scraping, the best we can hope for is a rebranding. It would be perfect if the next Spider-Verse movie would give him one, free from the Spider-Man title, because the normies love those movies and it would be easy to go from there
Robin was far more heavily featured than Miles ever was and there's still tons of Batman media with a solo Bruce, whereas I feel Peter will never be free from Mileswank
>in his initial years when no one cared about him
>but he was black so they had to keep him around.
I love how people just make shit up to build a fake narrative to support their delusions
You're free to go compare his sales to Ultimates sales. Ultimates got scrapped but he got moved to 616 anyway.
the only person building a false narrative to support a delusion here is you
Anon, there's been a shit ton of black characters introduced since then that Marvel has abandoned or put on the backburner. is it really hard to belive that people just fricking like Miles and that's why he stuck around?
>Anon, there's been a shit ton of black characters introduced since then that Marvel has abandoned or put on the backburner
None of them as prominent or important for the culture war as "black Spider-Man"
>is it really hard to belive that people just fricking like Miles and that's why he stuck around?
Yes, all the data we have points to his performance being bad enough to be phased out
>but he was black so they had to keep him around
Had more to do with Bendis forcing them to keep him around
Pre movie, they could've killed him off and no one would've cared
Exactly. Two successful animated movies, one winning an Oscar and the other expected to sweep the category come awards season. Appearances across all the cartoons. Toys all over.
You can't get rid of Miles any more than you can get rid of Jason Todd or Tim Drake or Damian Wayne.
>You can't get rid of Miles any more than you can get rid of Jason Todd or Tim Drake or Damian Wayne.
Once the Spiderverse movies are done, he might fall to the wayside
He has little staying power now as is. One good thing about Spiderverse is it's pigeonholed him as a Multiverse Spiderman. In a way, he'll always be a variation.
he literally is staring in a non-multiverse spider-game that's highly anticipated next week
>You can't get rid of Miles any more than you can get rid of Jason Todd or Tim Drake or Damian Wayne.
you can very very easily get rid of any Robin that isn't Dick Grayson and even with him we haven't have any live action version of the dynamic duo in decades now, by and large the Idea of Robin is seen as to goofy and unnecessary to put in any real serious takes on Batman can't see Miles being any different in a few years if he's even still around by then.
the only ones trying to find "justification" for his existence or the people that hate miles and don't want him to exist at all. Everyone else doesn't care or likes miles
>the only ones trying to find "justification" for his existence or the people that hate miles and don't want him to exist at all.
Do you realize how stupid this makes you sound
no serously I lurk around all the major comics fandoms on the internet and like 90% of the time these type of questions are bought up are by people that just fricking hate miles. Most people don't give a shit they like Miles as Spider-man and don't see this as a problem. Miles has existed since 2011 and you guys have been b***hing into the void for a better part of 12 years and coming up with constant conspiracy theories and copes while the rest of the world has more or less accepted and welcomed Miles into the Spider-man mythos
Anon stop being ridiculous, people who think Miles is redundant think Miles shouldn't exist
Scrappy wasn't a matter of needing to be fixed, he was a matter of slowly taking the show over to the point it got annoying. He's actually fun when used sparingly
Wow exactly like Miles in the first Spider-Verse, who got tiring really fast when he started being forced in literally every single Spider-Man thing ever and taking over Peter.
In a way? Yeah. Scrappy was a hit who saved the Scooby Doo franchise in his first appearance because he, like the rest of the gang, had his own schtick. Because of the high returns, the studio kept asking for more and more of him until.
>He was the one leading and setting the trap like Fred
>He was the brains and found clues like Velma
>He was the one motivating the group and getting captured like Daphne
People liked Spider-verse because it made Miles something other than Peter 2.0, making him a wide-eyed rookie having to take leaps of faith when he wasn't experienced enough to have the confidence Peter had gained while also having his own things that he cared about and viewing those he cared as his motivation for being Spider-man over than the balance of guilt and responsibility. Slightly weaker Spider-sense, additional powers.
Neither character actually needs to be "fixed", they need to be allowed to do their own thing and show their value without having to ape on the other characters schticks. Miles shouldn't be quipping like Peter or approaching situations like Peter, he's at his best when you feel like he's "stepping up" to whatever situation he's in even as he's nervous
>People liked Spider-verse because it made Miles something other than Peter 2.0
He's a vanilla dork lame who has no personality other than graffiti and music and being a simp Urkel lame
>Making him a wide-eyed rookie having to take leaps of faith when he wasn't experienced enough to have the confidence
Peter already had those arcs when he was starting out
>and viewing those he cared as his motivation for being Spider-man over than the balance of guilt and responsibility.
You can't be fricking serious?
>Neither character actually needs to be "fixed", they need to be allowed to do their own thing and show their value without having to ape on the other characters schticks.
Miles literally apes everything of off Peter
We aren't talking about an original black character like Black Panther or Luke Cage: Hero for Hire or Blade or Brother Voodoo
We're talking about a race-swapped Spiderman clone by Bendis
There's never been anything wrong with Miles. His existence and continued success only highlight the problems with the Spider-man franchise and it's Fandom as a whole.
All you homosexuals care about is "success" I've noticed. That's your only defense. Kind of pathetic, honestly.
They’re lives are wrapped up in a culture war that we’re ALL losing. They claim to be hip while also being the dominant narrative pushed by government and corporations. They’re the best kind of slaves because they ENJOY blaming their neighbors for the problems of the world
what success are we talking about? people don't watch spider-verse for Miles and people don't play the games for Miles. let's not even speak about comic sales lmao
>lowest grossing Spider-Man media historically
>"continued success"
lmao
ATSV still has a higher ROI than both TASM movies and are far more critically acclaimed.
>ATSV still has a higher ROI than both TASM movies
If only TASM was able to stiff their workers to save on budget
>and are far more critically acclaimed
If only TASM cast Donald Glover as Peter
>ATSV still has a higher ROI than both TASM movies and are far more critically acclaimed
And yet they can't touch the Raimi movies in terms of acclaim and cultural relevance
Miles existing should let Peter grow up while Miles fills the niche of the Teenage/Young Adult Spidey Adventurers.
instead we have do have that with Miles but we also have a man child Peter still dealing with the same for close to 20 years now
This anon gets it
This anon gets it too
You could even do a generational thing like:
>Miles becomes Spiderman 2 and is mentored by Peter and that lets Peter grow up and have a family eventually
>Peter has Mayday who is mentored by Miles when she grows up
No thanks, Miles doesn't need to be retconned into the Spider-Man line. Just make him "the Spider-Man who dies tragically young" to "honor" Bendis' USM legacy.
return him to his universe, same with spider-gwen.
The black spider. You ever hear of el nino? Well this is el Black.
Zap Webbington the Elechnid
Keep him away from Peter. His original origin works well because it's a kid trying to live up to the greatest superhero of all time. Having exist in a world where Peter is still kicking just hurts both of them.
he should have stayed out of the 616 continuity
Comic books are for morons
>Better at swinging than Peter
>Far more prone to shooting balls of web for concussive attacks than webbing people or fighting them hand to hand
>Cowardly, but still tries to do the right thing when he needs to like Luigi
>Overcomes his fears enough in a major issue to save Spider-Man once and the fricks back to his own universe
Have him actually do his own thing, drop the super hero name entirely, and just go by Miles as a public super hero like Luke Cage. Drop the spider stuff and go full zappy powers and stealth.
Everyone knows him better as Miles Morales anyways.
fix him?!? hell no, all Bendis' shitty OCs should just be forgotten
Put him back in the Ultimate universe.
He's no longer black and he's no longer Spider-Man. There. Fixed.
Notice how the daily spider-boy hate threads dropped off? Wonder why those flames couldn't be stoked as long.
Seems like Cinemaphile just wants to frick the kid now.
Stop making him a spider-whatever. He has invisibility and lightnin powers, right? Make him a thunder lizards/gecko (that's probably a monster hunter monster) themed superhero instead, you can even keep the wall climbing!
His main problem is that he was made from the beggining to be "color person spiderman", and can't and won't be able to stand on it's own as long as long as it continues like that. Even if they stop (they won't) putting peter down to put miles up, the problem will remain.
miles entire existence is to insult white men. how can you really fix that?
How is it possible to fix a character doing exactly what his creator intended him to do?
Politician/the mayoe start fully supporting him and endorsing him, even JJJ, but are really using him as a tool to further their own agendas and spread division among New York to (web)swing votes and get power and Miles has to come to terms with the fact he is no longer a hero, a symbol for downtrodden blacks, but a tool for the rich and powerful's fake promises. He tries to unravel their lies after a crisis of identity and ditching the Spiderman name and becoming his own person. And is then killed by them and they frame it on Peter Parker to start riots.
Too real, would never be allowed to publish.
Yeah... I wish real social commentary was allowed to show how fricked everything is
>a symbol for downtrodden blacks
was he ever? He goes to an exclusive prep school and is a cornball Urkel lame who simps after white women
In this scenario I imagine politicians convincing Miles he is.
They really tried to convince the audience he was in the PS4 Miles game. "He's OUR Spiderman!"
Best idea for a Miles story so far.
Make him a mutant, then he becomes their problem instead of Spider-Man's problem.
Make him older than Peter.
Make him the new body for Superior.
You think Insomniac as the balls to make Miles Otto's "Vessel" for 3?
That actually sound cool. Just keep the black and red color scheme and have a spider themed costume would be good.
It would be awesome if he used his bioelectricity to charges gadgets too.
There is no 'fix' to him, except through replacement.
