You can probably download it on the internet somewhere for free though, it's not like your money will go back to the original creators, they're all retired or dead

NTA but I'd rather have the beer. Even a hangover would be preferred to owning some junk DVD that has no resale value and most libraries wouldn't want as a donation and thrift stores will simply mark down to $1 once they receive it, even in mint condition.

    >OP slowly walks up to the most popular kids in the room and gets within inches of their face and proceeds to SCREAM

    >"THANK UHHHH YYOOUUUUUU!!!!"

The thing you rent digitally may vanish overnight. If you really like something keep a physical copy. Someday you might have something special to show your children.

        Anonymous

You say this but most TV cartoons don’t even get physical copies. It’s because nobody buys them, even Best Buy and Target stopped selling them altogether. It’s a dead format.

yeah when people talk about owning digital media they definitely mean streaming or something similar... for sure.

Very unlikely to happen. It’s way cheaper to just stream.

      >from non-English-speaking country
      >want to show nieces and nephews Scooby-Doo and The Witch's Ghost because I loved it as a kid, but it only got a dubbed release on VHS and that can't be found
      >have plan to find the VHS in some second hand store and ripping the audio and adding it to a better-quality rip to show them
      >spent years looking but couldn't find it
      >finally someone with the same idea uploaded a rip on Archive.org
      >now they're all too old to want to watch Scooby-Doo, or old enough to just watch it in English
Not being able to just show them stuff in English makes it a lot harder to suggest movies. My oldest niece had a kid at 19 though, so now I've got a second chance. As long as she doesn't make the kid addicted to youtube, which is a real danger with how often they bring out "his ipad". They even did it when I was visiting and playing with him, which made me really question what the frick they were doing when I wasn't there.

youtube is no different than tv

It's the content that's "cancerous". Tv is mild compared to some moronic stuff people record to gain views on the platform.

If you actually believe this then you haven't seen the shit that autoplays for young kids on youtube. It's nothing but bright colours and noises for meaningless stimulation that never ends because there's always another flashy video ready to play after. We're not talking about a kid being "addicted" to youtube because he watches Among Us videos or whatever the new thing is.
