You ever been to a place you know you can't stay but can't leave?
It has some good breasts and ass. Everything else is overrated.
I got bored after 3 or 4 episodes in the first season and stopped watching, never picked it up again. It wasn't bad necessarily, just not very interesting.
>le.......DOUX
>well, once there was only dark. You ask me, the light’s winning
One of the best TV shows of the millennium so far
test
low
Nice self control, homosexual
It's been overblown by spergs for years, first time watching it wasn't anything special, I gave it a second chance years after with tempered expectations and it was good, not life changing or anything, but good.
You don’t get the crust.
keyed
director and casting carried pizzalatte writing, which is only good when you squint. one take in da hood, theme song, and hot sex did the rest.
best cop drama as far as the mystery goes
and one word
>ATMOSPHERE
*PSYCHOSPHERE
c/rust/
explain this meme
dried semen
>kill 6 pack of 16oz beer
>cut the cans up into figurines while telling batshit story
>still get to drive home
>stop at the bar for more beer with Marty
Is Louisiana that based? Cops just let you chug beer in front of them and then drive away?
>Is Louisiana that based? Cops just let you chug beer in front of them and then drive away?
its probably commenting on how cops can do whatever they want with impunity, as Rust says to that hooker.
he's taking shots from a flask while he drinks the 6pack as well
Rust literally tells them he's leaving if they don't let him drink while he tells his story. He's not under arrest at all. You zoomers should put the phone down whilst watching kino
It's good, definitely in the top of this genre. Woody Harrelson is amazing, didn't think he had this level of acting in him
>dirty bayou louisiana setting
>rust’s monologues
>the reveal when they confront ledoux
>2012 so you could still have an honest dialogue about conspiracies without evoking the wrath of the israelite
>prime daddario
everything about this show is good, there is never a moment of filler
>dirty bayou louisiana setting
>the two White, Southern, corrupt cops are actually the good guys
Id never seen another pessimist character in cinema before Rust came along. Absolute kino.
Is season 2 worth a watch?
It's divisive but I liked it and it's also very memetic. The acting is undeniably fantastic.
denied. especially vince vaughn and I spit on his performance in s2
Holy filtered
The fact that this is the only defense people have of later TD seasons is proof they are garbage. Only liked by contrarians latching onto something widely despised. Can't even explain why it's good, just say everybody else got "filtered" (presumably by the atrocious acting and shallow writing).
It was just overly ambitious and I respect it. It's not exactly what I wanted from a S2 but it was high effort and I recognize that and it is an entertaining show.
Farrell acts circles around McCanuhue
if you like Vince you are a chuddy
let's hear about how that monologue about eating a frog in the basement, "robo dicks" jokes, and colin's single father seethe are actually subversive and heckin smart
no
If you sincerely enjoyed season 1, no, it's not. If you were ambivalent about season 1, maybe you'll prefer season 2. I found it impossible to get into because of how dull the mystery was.
i liked both 1 & 2, though 1 is clearly superior
Vince Vaughn carried S2 Casper knew this
It's like someone's memory of a good show but the memory is fading.
1 is best, 2 is fricking gay, 3 is gay and only Vince Vaughn is good
Yes. It's a more down to earth, gritty version of the first season. Everything is sleazy and corrupted and everything that can go wrong does. But there's no YELLA KANG so redditors hate it.
>t. S2 writer
ha!gaaaaaaaaaay.jpg
It's trash
I was hooked when it was airing. I was in every thread on Cinemaphile
you were on Cinemaphile back in 2012??
Some of us have been here since abatap
Best show in last ten years
You wouldn't get it
Quite literally one of the best seasons of any show ever. Up there with Chernobyl, Sopranos, and the good seasons of GoT
> Up there with Chernobyl
>The first season of True Detective, an American anthology crime drama television series created by Nic Pizzolatto, premiered on January 12, 2014, on the premium cable network HBO. The principal cast consisted of Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, Michael Potts, and Tory Kittles. The season had eight episodes, and its initial airing concluded on March 9, 2014.
Jesus christ how can it be ten years ago already
>Past a certain age, a man without a family can be a bad thing
What was implied by this?
He likes mowing lawns
started off great, all kinds of conspiracies aluded to, primo T&A and good setting. Then by the end it just kind of wraps up like any cop drama, they get the bad guy and thats that.
I was expecting some sort of Lovecraftian pedo cult
They don’t get the bad guy at all. They get one of the bad guys from the outskirts of the cult that worships the yellow king.
he got the evangelist dude sorta and offscreen
My schizo theory is that tptb forced it to be rewritten, because it was revealing too much, and that the second season was meant to follow on from or at least be connected to the first e.g. the animal mask guy/house in s2 was meant to be connected to the masked pedos in s1, the orgy scene was meant to be underage/connected to the same cult etc.
It was a Lovecraftian pedo cult. They acknowledged they couldn't get them all in the last episode. They got the guy related to the murdered girl in the first episode.
i recently rewatched it and they say hey found a lot of buried bones and murder weapons related to other murders/missing persons at the house as well, but yeah they only got one of the perpetrators and (Governer Tuttle got Epsteined)
Why the frick couldn't marty just not cheat on his wife
Men have not only the right but the obligation to frick as many women as they want, just remember the master key/bad lock analogy.
Kys
Don't know if anyone has brought this up before but on repeated viewings I realized Rust and Marty have a Sherlock Holmes and Watson relationship, but with lots of modern baggage, which if intentional is pretty cool.
you dont mow another guys lawn. simple as
was the portal real?
It's just an intense adolescent edginess. The philosophy is superficial, but fits the fictional world. It offers escapism into your male teenage mindset, which is fun if you don't take it as a model for your real life.
Rust is literally me
Why did he never become a literally me character? Because he actually got pussy?
yeah that's a dealbreaker
>early on rust questions the groundskeeper guy who looks super suspicious
>rust just lets him go without any further questioning
very good detective work...
He wasn't an experienced detective, his experience was as an undercover agent and his chance in detective work was only a reward for his risky success undercover, and he was distracted by news of an exciting break.
Lost, True Detective S1 and Twin Peaks S3 were the best Cinemaphile threads
>literally finished season 3 just now
>see this thread
Some spooky shit
Season 3 was way better than everyone says. Probably the weakest in the series, but still damn good. Don’t care what anyone says, I’m excited for season 4, whats the release date anyway?
>I’m excited for season 4
anon...
Had to close that thread instantly
Season 4 will be good
Season 4 will be good
Season 4 will be good
Jodie…. Jodie foster….
Alaska… yes
I need a lot of more media with a swampy and humid atmosphere. Still a very under explored setting.
i assume you played RE7
Absolutely, another great example of it done right. I think Hunt: Showdown, or whatever, has a setting like that but it seems like a MP game for autists.
wasn't the whole thing gearing up to be a massive conspiracy theory that they were uncovering and then it just petered out? Pretty shit. The redditors on here slop-up anything
Maybe watch the show moron
it isn't a capeshit film, two state detectives were never going to bring down a nationwide pedo cult that had tentacles in all levels of government
How many times have we had this thread, anons ? Well, who knows ?
Everything we've ever done or will do, we're gonna do over and over and over again
And that girl and that boy, they'll be in that room... Again...
Is there a bigger pleb filter than season 2?
Any similar conspiracy-uncovering Kino like this out there? I've nearly finished S1 and I've got a hankerin' for more
The Killing is fairly decent.
I think Rusty Cohle is reltable to many anons here. He is introverted, pessimistic and he has no charisma. He is the opposite of Marty who in spite of being less talented, less intelligent, less attractive, and less in shape, his career is more successful than Rust's, he as has much more status, is better with people and especially women.
Season 3 is the best. It has Sarah Gadon
It's an outdated boomer show that has long been surprassed
