spongebob is one of the worst things to happen to western animation, in retrospect yes, the first seasons were good, but if I could I would erase it from history.
What I love most about season 2/3 were the jokes being more clever than they had any right to be for a kid's show. Whatever happened to those kinds of writers?
When Derek Drymon left after the movie the show lost its original essence.
Even bringing back Hillenburg didn’t really make it the same as it was before originally.
If you mean "better" in the sense of not pushing evil gay propaganda on children? Perhaps. But even despite that they are still far more watchable than season 6/7 of Spongebob.
>alternate universe where Spongebob never got made >CatDog becomes Nickelodeon's corporate juggernaut instead and gets 12+ seasons, three theatrical movies, multiple spinoffs, and a shitton of merchandise
>alternate universe where Spongebob never got made >Angry Beavers becomes Nickelodeon's corporate juggernaut instead and gets 12+ seasons, three theatrical movies, multiple spinoffs, and a shitton of merchandise

The impact Spongebob had on animation was nowhere NEAR as bad as what Adventure Time has done. I'd kill to go back to the era of mediocre Spongebob clones instead of the garbage we're stuck with today. At least Spongebob didn't promote an ugly as sin artstyle and is today more visually appealing than 90% of the other garbage on TV.
Adventure Time had an insane amount of influence on the future of animation not just in art style, but also in theming and storytelling. We live in an age where a powerful fandom is much sought after and a show needs to provide enough intrigue.

and Gravity Falls. Also Family Guy for adult animation.
>they fixed all the character personalities
No, no they didn't. Somehow Patrick is even dumber than in the Paul Tibbit era. The exaggerated animation doesn't help either, and just enhances how much his character has devolved.
He’s much closer to the dopey but charismatic loafer he was in the original three seasons. Frankly the Musical was so good at capturing the characters at their best.

The first three seasons of SB made it hard for future Nicktoons to live up to that level.
Even nu-SpongeBob can’t even live up to its early years.

Moved to work on Billy and Mandy, Camp Lazlo and Phineas and Ferb
>Camp Lazlo
Seriously? I don't remember anything particularly witty or entertaining about it at all
When Derek Drymon left after the movie the show lost its original essence.
Even bringing back Hillenburg didn’t really make it the same as it was before originally.
Something else would just take its place.
There is no escape.
It literally went from the best television cartoon ever made to arguably one of the worst television cartoons ever made.
still better then Steven Universe and most modern cartoons like Owl House

imagine getting so buttmad that two girls kissed that you would unironically defend nu-spongebob
Even with all the propaganda, they are still better.
I hate SU with all my heart, and even then I'd rather put up with it than post-movie SB

wasn't catdog made in response to cancelling angry beavers.
CatDog came when it was still on

Absolutely, and don't forget writing style. So many shows have that awful Adventure Time writing and I hate it.
shut up
he's right and you're probably a troon
sage it you moron
suck my wiener homosexual
It's really a combination of
and Gravity Falls. Also Family Guy for adult animation.
does this count as flanderization or just infantilization
That Patrick isn't even used anymore, they fixed all the character personalities after Paul Tibbitt left.

>big round chin patrick
>baby tooth patrick
I hate both.
reminder that the musical had the best, most grounded portrayal of patrick in the last 15 years of spongebob media
I love him so much. The costume design was absolutely inspired work.
amazing how both whites CANT bob their necks quite like Sandy.
>but whitey can’t bob they necks like us
Black “excellence” everyone
Understandable (The Musical wasn't for kids)
What is the plot about? I can't imagine a spongebob musical not directed for children.
They really got down the “dim witted but easy going beach bum” look to him
He’s much closer to the dopey but charismatic loafer he was in the original three seasons. Frankly the Musical was so good at capturing the characters at their best.
Ugh me too. As soon as you see the baby tooth or spongebob cheeks the channel is getting changed.
Yeah, he's much more of jackass in the recent seasons.
HI, I'M PATRICK STAR, AND I LIVE WITH MY PARENTS
Remember when Patrick knew that "putting on airs" meant you were acting fancy?
Coll
Twinkle twinkle Patrick Star
I made myself a sandwich
I like the episode where he makes the song
ever after all of this, SpongeBob has never dove into "HOWDY DO FELLOW KIDZ" with contemporary references
*cough* The Simpsons *cough*
yes, instead they constantly reference pre-movie episodes, 'member granny from the chocolate with nuts episode? 'member rock bottom?
