>guy gets hit by a car and almost dies
>makes a mostly full recovery
>starts having dreams of people getting killed
>thinks it's just bad noightmares
>one morning turns on tv and sees a crime he saw in his dream
>spills his celery
>calls the cops and tells detective that he saw the guy who did the murder
>detective is skeptical but takes a description of the guy
>the police find him and it was the same guy, so they reluctantly start taking tips from the mc
>eventually mc becomes a consultant or something like monk (the show is kinda like monk btw)
>each episode is a different crime they have to solve
>some of the other characters at the station are a sketch artist person, some sort of comic relief. a lady cop maybe(love interest?) etc.
>eventually have something to do with a serial killer that stretches for multiple seasons
thoughts?

It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
sounds dumb.
it takes longer than 25 seconds to read my post, so seeing as you posted so fast, i would say you didnt even read it. and it's not dumb
I'm not a 3rd world ESL moron so no it did not take me more than 25 seconds to read your post. You want to make a generic paranormal cop show. It's fricking dumb. You watched Monk or Psyche and you said "I want another show like Monk or Psyche" and came up with this drivel. It's dumb.
get out of my fricking head homosexual
it's alright man we all have dreams
well, the next time you dream, give some thought
>it takes longer than 25 seconds to read my post
Its just the ghost whisperer but dreams
Early Edition but nightmares
ok but make the MC black
Sounds like The Dead Zone though?
This. It's just literally a bad Stephen King plot
What's that movie where they revive people after leaving them dead as long as possible and dead things come back to frick with them so they need to die again to kill them in dead-land before being revived again to exorcise the ghosts?
flatliners?
That's it! Seems like I was wrong about some details, but that's definitely what I was thinking of.
thanks lads looks like I'm watching Flatliners tonight
I have a better idea: Anon has sex with that actress, with me playing Anon
what are you mean playing as an anon?
me as the xenomorph in the top left
have a nice day anime troony
I like your idea OP
thanks
Black person
mine is with a guy though
This is the most cliché shit ever. Also it's literally just The Dead Zone
>Also it's literally just The Dead Zone
no it's not frick off
The thing that makes investigation shows (like Monk) fun is the figuring out part- you get clues and the brilliant detective character puts them together. It's a classic formula, but by having the MC experience a dream that puts it all together each time it feels less "earned" and that process of "solving" the crime along with the audience is part of the formula for a crime drama.
There's a show called "Psyche" where the main character pretends to have psychic powers and help the police solve crimes, but it has an extra element of the powers being faked- which is known to the audience- and half the fun is seeing HOW he is going to fake the psychic stuff. Something like that would be more inherently interesting then "he can see killings in his dreams".
>The thing that makes investigation shows (like Monk) fun is the figuring out part
No, it isn't. It's seeing how Monk figures it out.
tldr. your pic though. vagrant girl kino when?
Sounds kino
Could work in some conflict where he dreams about someone he knows
oh that's good, maybe he sees the face of the killer and it's him, and he doesnt understand, so it's like a secret conflict within him that carries on thorugh until the show finally or something where it all makes sense in the end
sounds like psych but not as good. it'll rely heavily on actor charisma.
that's why i think we should get tony shalhoub
her show wasnt good, this will be better and have some comedy elements. like the sketch artist can be bad at drawing or something idk
Medium was great and had good comedic elements such as the animated episode the daughter was channeling
patricia arqyet is a charisma vacuum, i cant imagine anyone liked the show. no wonder it was canceled after 8 seasons
You should really watch Psych because it's pure kino.
Also how about instead of dreams he starts hearing a ghostly narrator like in Stranger Than Fiction. That way he'll have to actually piece together clues. That movie was also kino.
>guy wakes up from his coma, groggy
>starts hearing narration
>Dr. Pavel's bedside manner with Main Character was impeccable. No one would suspect that he was actually the killer behind the Cia Bane murder.
>MC freaks out and makes a stupid face, has to gather real evidence so the police will believe him. Hijinx ensue.
>how about instead of dreams he starts hearing a ghostly narrator like in Stranger Than Fiction. That way he'll have to actually piece together clues
no, because the way i am picturing it he is really only seeing the people involved and like a few clues from the crime scene, and the team has to use their combined skills to figure who and where the murder will happen to try and stop it. i forgot to mention that btw, the point of the show to try and stop the murder before it happens, not just solve it after the fact
good shoe
lol i was thinking that this was a zodiac's letter
>hit by car
>becomes psychic
kek
The car also develops supernatural abilities after hitting him, and they become a crime fighting duo
Ngl, I'd give pychic Knight Rider that sees strangers in his dreams and has to piece together who, where, why before the ticking time bomb explodes at least half a season before dropping it.
this was literally already a show called Medium starring Patricia Arquette and ran for something like 8 seasons
Sounds like ID Invaded
sounds pretty generic
>thoughts?
Well if you want a honest opinion
>Boring
>already done too much
>just a tv series that waste time, money and is made only to introduce new actors to the movie life
>this series is just an excuse to make work some dudes in the Television world.
>Did I said is boring and already done? you know why I said it twice, because I wanted to show how is boring reapeting things twice.
most things have been done more than once, people still watch. every sitcom is basically the same, they still work.
Where is this picture from and what movies should I watch that evoke this feeling? Kind of reminds me of Memories of Murder
Congratulations, you just made Early Edition.
this is with dreams though
i make the what if early edition but with twitter threads btw
Jerry get ipad
Should've just pitched a Valerie remake starring Malina Weissman
How about a detective show where a guy had to do something stupid or ridiculous to acquire the insight to solve a case, like a guy who can solve cases if he can make love at the crime scene. Have different girls every episode.
Or men.
thats very stupid
Call it Detective Dick
Extremely generic, almost no hint of originality.
Also there's no conflict in this premise, so there's no story either.
t. screenwriter
i posted in a different comment that he see's himself doing a future killing of someone he knows and that is a conflict throughout the series
That's not a conflict, that's just a premise, a hook.
it's a conflict because he doesnt want it to happen
And this is going to carry through let's say, a season? How?
What's preventing him from just staying home and not doing anything for the rest of his life so he doesn't 'accidentally' kill someone?
A conflict is something that comes with the powers or puts him against something, right now the premise doesn't have a conflict, actually, it doesn't really even have a character - as your protagonist is nothing else than this 'trick' he provides to the P.D.
Rick Dalton, by a miracle, survives a fatal car accident and develops the ability to see murders that will happen in the future, now he has to team up with other vigilante investigators to prevent the murders to save lives... and his wife.
NOW we have conflict and even a bit of story going on (Even tho the logline is far from perfect). If we make the protagonist part of the 'big system' it instantly nulls his powers, since he is just going to be a cog in the massive jurisdiction and law enforcement systems we've built. His powers are OUTSIDE OF THE NORM so his place should be outside the norm too, making him an underdog and forcing him to 'punch up' so to speak - hide and compete with our "wrong" system.
>What's preventing him from just staying home and not doing anything for the rest of his life so he doesn't 'accidentally' kill someone?
because he see's the dreams dont go away so it's still somehow going to happen.
>...making him an underdog and forcing him to 'punch up' so to speak - hide and compete with our "wrong" system.
no thanks libtard. and the character will be interesting because he can be written that way, so it's not a trick or cog thing, the show is lighthearted, and you are overthinking it. plus every episode is a conflict of trying to stop a murder
I think you didn't understand the point of the post.
>because he see's the dreams dont go away so it's still somehow going to happen.
So what's this to him? What drives him? What's at stake here to him?
>character will be interesting because he can be written that way,
What way? Your premise doesn't even have a character. If your character is as I said; Literally a tool in a box - you're not writing a central character and definitely not a protagonist.
>So what's this to him? What drives him? What's at stake here to him?
he sees that he will kill his friend but doesnt understand why and doesnt want to be a murderer.
>What way? Your premise doesn't even have a character. If your character is as I said; Literally a tool in a box - you're not writing a central character and definitely not a protagonist.
yeah man you're right, i should have written the entire screenplay for the show and posted that instead of a greentext to give the general gist of the show. my fricking bad
I can definitely tell you're not a writer and have never received any feedback on any of your ideas.
Look buddy, you're the one who wants to write and 'tell' these dime-dozen lukewarm ideas that have been done to death, I'm here asking you questions to help you shape it up to be more - YOURS so it's not the same beaten-to-death horse on the roadway. You got what you asked from the thread and now you're getting defensive. Not good.
> i should have written the entire screenplay for the show and posted that instead of a green text
No, but the characters' motivation and drive are enough to push any idea from generic to interesting. What you were just describing things that happen in the story - this is not emotional or interesting. That's why everyone in the thread told you this idea has been 1000 times before - because it has - because it's the only thing you present. Then you get touchy when I try to dig from you the reason what makes it different.
there are only like 3 kinds of shows, no one is making anything different. it's the characters and the writing of the specific episodes that makes it stand out. why do you think people still watch sitcoms? they have been the same for over 50 years.
So you know how fierce the competition is? Good. The only thing you have to worry about is writing the thing and making it stand out.
Thanks, fren.
Well, you definitely don't have a show yet, you cant have actors yet and it appears you don't even have writing yet. So start from that.
He’s asking what makes yours stand out you stupid homosexual. But your idea sucks. I’m only responding to let you know that you’re arguing against the one guy who was actually trying to help you and offer good advice.
what makes any show stand out? we just get actors and write it good.
I mean thanks fren.
The first question everyone will ask you "What is the conflict"?
>making him an underdog and forcing him to 'punch up' so to speak - hide and compete with our "wrong" system.
Like every pozzed show right now? Old shows like Monk were good because cops weren't forced to be all evil and we just watched an autist work (mostly) within the confines of the law system.
I guess you didn't understand the point of the argument either. There's a reason why I wrote "wrong" that way - it's not to sell that the law system is corrupt, political, or whatever, it to be "wrong" in the context of our protagonist - so there is something to develop conflict and as I said; the context in the story. Good stories don't have right or wrong.
If you look at Monk too they were "wrong" too about Monk - it's the reason why he was P.I.
sounds like dogshit. it's an incredibly generic police procedural and the gimmick has been done before, numerous times. all of your subsequent ideas just make it more generic. I genuinely cannot fathom getting excited over this idea.
>Murder
>WHO DID THIS!?!??!?!?!?
>MATT, WE NEED YOUR SUPER DUPER DETECTIVE SKILLS
>not doing it
>BUT MUH LAW AND ORDER
>Okay... I'm in
>ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
>It's this guy
>OH MY GOD IT IS!!!! YOU DID IT AGAIN GOD SPEED
kill me now
Source on pic?
nvm, a quick reverse search tells me it's Valerie and her week of wonders
I know it gets lumped in with nonces but it's actually an interesting and somewhat odd movie and it's unfortunate it has those connotations.
Show idea:
>Guy is browsing /misc/
>Sees a thread by some anon claiming to be leaking secrets about the elite pedo cabal
>Decides to take matters into his own hands
>Gets a gun and goes taxi driver style
>Goes to DC and follows the clues to infiltrate the pedo ring, breaking into various buildings, trailing suspects, etc
>Encounters various things he interprets as being hot on the trail
>All the while mashing f5 on /misc/ looking for more threads
>MC is a schizo, lots of things don't make sense to the viewer, you can't tell if any of the people or events are real
>Timeline doesn't make sense
>lots of clues are vague, as time goes on more and more of the threads/clues seem to be posted by larpers, and the claims and directions on /misc/ become more fantastical to the viewer
>So many possible endings
Basically imagine a detective/vigilante show about a guy tracking down a criminal enterprise, but the character is Taxi Driver X The Machinist and things get more schizo/fever dream the closer he gets to the end. Yet the audience should get taken along with the MC and actually believe that there is a pedo ring and the original poster is legit. I want the show to simulate how it actually feels to fall down a conspiracy rabbit hole on /misc/
Sounds like right-wing Mr Robot with some Fight Club mixed in. But not bad.
It's quite identical to the tv series adapted from The Dead Zone by Stephen King.
Simpsons did it.
The Dead Zone did it first, anon
I fricking hate it when I spill my celery on the floor
