          You don't?

Men will never understand how women can be such coldhearted b***hes because largely men are normal average people with human emotions, so when you encounter someone who flirts with you, fricks you, goes to Ikea to pick out furniture for your future apartment with you, you tend to assign a charitable interpretation to all those things, no matter what "caveat" she gave in the beginning, because a normal human being would grow fond of another normal human being during the course of such a courting period.

That's your fantasy. You can even spend 30 years with someone and then she can leave.

              this but unironically

men are supposed to live on their own, wild and free. no slavery to some ball and chain pulling you down. you work when you want, hunt when you want, eat when you want, sleep when you want, and DO what you want. when you want to mate you prove your strength to a woman through money, looks, or status, you knock her up, then you leave and let her take care of the brat. that's freedom, not wageslaving 60 hours a week then going home to be henpecked and whipped by some harpy b***h who bosses you around for another 60 hours. you might as well cut your balls off at that point, you're a domesticated herbivore b***h.

you can see this in real life too, the most alpha races like Blacks don't let themselves be enslaved by ~~*marriage*~~ and ~~*child support*~~, they knock their women up then run free. you can see the high rates of single moms as proof. in comparison beta cucks like Whites and Asians with low T are all trapped by the matriarchy and the second they hit puberty they just kind of accept that they will spend the rest of their lives as slaves striving for the approval of ugly fat women. in fact the most cucked race, White Western Europeans, actually take pride in being castrated slaves and say shit like "i'm not a stepdad i'm the dad that stepped up", this is the exact mindset that romancegays actually have, that being a feminine b***h to some ugly fat woman is good

                >our caveman ancestors are believed to have reproduced this way as well along with most mammals
                >literally every society at some point practiced polygyny with men having harems of multiple women until feminism stepped in
                >historically speaking rival tribes, states, empires etc. would kill their enemy’s men down to the last child but rape their women instead leading to men having multiple wives
                >look fricking outside bro Chads have multiple young hot GFs while incels go decades without pussy
Male pair bonding is literally not a thing. In nature we are polygynous: one alpha male beats out the others and gets to reproduce with almost all the females. As a result women have to pair bond to that one guy, but men don’t pair bond at all. Are YOU moronic?

Romantic love IS real, but it’s only for women. That’s what we’ve been trying to tell you for like half the thread. Men shouldn’t catch feelings because that’s feminine loser behavior. You’re essentially being brainwashed to let go of your natural urge to frick hot chicks and instead settle for raising Tyrone’s child with some frumpy fat b***h. It’s like being indoctrinated into a cult, sure faith in religion is a real thing, but you’re letting yourself being exploited because of it.

Yes, men love beauty, the problem is that Disney and Hollywood propaganda has told men to wife up 35 year old fat single moms and take care of Daquan’s child for them. In a free world men would realize that this is cuckoldry and only frick actually attractive women (younger than 20) but due to feminist “romantic” brainwashing they believe in insane concepts like “true love” and end up being b***h broken slaves to fat ugly women because she’s “the one” or something.

People who have been molested as a child typically don’t think of sex as an adult in the same way as those who weren’t. There’s nothing sacred or special about it to them because their first experience was a horrible abuse of power. It’s most people who become sex workers were molested. says who? every time he wanted to talk about their relationship and where they were she was completely noncommittal and unwilling to define them as something more. she was never dishonest with him. it's not her responsibility to manage his internal expectations for him when she's being completely straight up with him already.

this movie is brilliant because it's deliberately an anti manic pixie dream girl story. it's a parable about the dangers of assuming every romance is going to be like the movies and not understanding that the person you're with is an extant human with their own desires and needs who doesn't necessarily owe you anything just because of what you want.

And there's your problem. If she had been clear when he was asking for clarification on their status that there was never any chance of something more, then maybe I could side with her. Instead, she was mealy-mouthed and totally gave the wrong impression. I mean they were obviously clearly something more than just a frick buddy type of thing. If it was only sex then you could understand, but she made it implicitly clear they were in something more, which at any time she could have cleared up with a single sentence and, more importantly, by cutting him off and saving him from himself.

But over time, the state of their relationship clearly evolved into something bigger than that, by her own admission. It’s reasonable for Tom to believe that he was able to change her, which is one of the purposes of human companionship in the first place.

The only thing she did wrong was invite him to her engagement party without telling him that's what it was, that was fricked up. Other than that, whether you agree with how she's living her life or not, it's not her fault that he ignored her when she told him she wasn't looking for anything serious, and also chose to ignore the signs that their relationship wasn't working and was slowly falling apart

There is a hierarchy when it comes to who is capable of being blamed or being a victim. If a man walks through "a bad part of town" carrying expensive stuff or wearing a blingy watch, he'll get blamed for being an idiot. Heck, you'll get blamed for leaving items in your car or not leaving the doors unlocked if some lawyer or engineer breaks the windows.

unfortunately even the sweet, modest and kind white women are on tinder looking for hookups every week because they were taught sex is biological function like eating and that they are weird for not having it weekly or monthly.

Incels like you didn't understand the movie at all lol. The point is that Tom overly romanticized their relationship and ignored everything Summer told him about not wanting a serious relationship scince day one. He was blind and deaf. And if you cannot truly understand your partner, it's a shitty relationship and you only have to blame yourself. You can't force someone to truly love you. So it's important to learn how to move on and not focus on finding a true love™, but instead on a career or hobby like he eventually did.

      >You can't force someone to truly love you.
This is actually the gist of the film. It is very rare to find a relationship where both persons are equally into each other.

I understand that art is subjective and your take away is based on who you are and what your experience has been with the subject matter, but look at the thesis statement of the film “This is a story about love but it’s not a love story.” Here’s what that means:

Love can mean a lot of things but this movie defines it as a deep feeling people feel spurred on by attachment to what should be irrelevant information but isn’t because being human is messy. There’s a term in psychology called “priming” where information is given and it informs subsequent experiences. If I ask “what color is paper? What color is a puffy cloud on a clear day? What color is vanilla ice cream?” The answer to all is of course “white”. If I follow those with “What do cows drink” you’ll probably respond “milk” even though cows drink water (calves drink milk but whatever). There was once a McDonald’s print ad with a picture of fries and text reading “Don’t even think about it” That’s priming. When Tom meets Summer in the elevator and the first words he hears out of her mouth are “To die by your side would be such a heavenly way to die” that’s priming. She informs him she doesn’t believe in romantic love but it’s irrelevant because she’s already inadvertently colored in his feelings for her. Then, when they break up and Summer is sitting in a cafe and thinking about Tom insisting love is real right when the man who becomes her fiancé walks in the door, that’s priming. When Tom hears this story and then has his “meet cute” with Autumn, that’s priming. The message of the movie isn’t that either one of these people is more right than the other- it’s that human beings operate on random input and assign meaning to what should be meaningless.

She tells him she doesn't want a serious relationship with him but he goes all in anyway. IIRC the movie runs a montage playing back how some interactions throughout their relationship really went, and it shows how blind he was and that he read way too much into their situation.

I've been exactly there, had a relationship with a much more experienced girl fall apart after a year and at the time I was confused and heartbroken, but looking back now I can see all the signs - the growing distance, the small moments of aggro. At the time I was completely blind to it but now it makes so much sense.
I empathize with JGL's character but he was naive. Deschanel's character has some blame but she warned him from the start.

Real life doesnt work like that. Sometimes the spark fizzles out, and it can be one-sided.
The fact that she moves on and marries a guy after six months isn't her being a prostitute, it's a reflection that sometimes another combination of people will just work on a different level than they were.

reminder that if early in a relationship a woman tells you she doesn't want anything serious, but you are remotely hoping to hang onto that long-term, you have to immediately say "well in that case I think we better split up now, why waste each other's time" and wait.

Summer ended up getting married to some dude so she never had any convictions, she was just a capricious b***h afraid of committing. Tom's only mistake was believing women had any higher virtues like loyalty, like men have.
That's why women identify with Summer, because women just want to do whatever they want at any time with no requirement to commit or have principles

Women hate this movie because it actually makes them consider what the men are going through during a break up. Women can just cut off a guy and move on to the next one without much of a thought but they actually have to sit through a pretty accurate depiction of a modern break up from a mans perspective.

Summer KNEW Tom was falling in love. She obviously knew it. Was she clear with him? Yes. Was he clear with her aswel? Yes.
    >she: dude I just want sex, I don't believe in love, I don't want a boyfriend
    >he: yeah no problem... oh wait that's not something I can decide, I AM falling in love with you
    >she: yeah... that's your problem I dont care
Why did she dance with him? Why didn't she tell him she was having another relationship? Why did she keep sleeping with him when she knew he had feelings for her?
I do think the movie really tries to blame on Tom with this "I told you, don't fall in love with me" argument, but the character of Summer completely lacks empathy. There is a scene where Tom describes her as an emotionless human or a robot, and that fits perfect for Summer. She loves her hair, just like she loves to date people. And she loves to cut off her hair, just like she likes to cut off relationships because men have no meaning to her.

Life is not a romanticist fantasy of love and magic. Everybody is afraid, alone, and horny, until the day they die. You will never be happy unless you cope by trying to find beauty in the most mundane things, but even that eats away at you because you know it's a lie.

I'm a man and Tom was a fricking b***h. Summer said from the start that she wasn't looking for a serious relationship.
Doesn't matter if she married the other guy shortly after. People are allowed to change their mind.

Summer was absolutely leading Tom on and anyone who pretends otherwise is a hopeless simp or a prostitute who uses others but wants to keep their conscience clean and tell herself she's not an horrible person.

Words mean shit if the actions don't follow or give a reasonable margin for belief that the person changed their minds; Summer telling Tom she's not looking for anything serious means shit if she engages in actions that are coherent with someone looking for something serious.

If anything the most unrealistic thing about this whole arrangement is that Tom got to frick Summer that much. When women want to use you they won't have that much sex if they even have sex at all.

I think she was attracted to him, but the chemistry was not there on her side for a longer lasting relationship. Something was missing.
He liked her more than she liked him, but along the way she wanted to have fun.
The classic male-female roles were reversed here. He insisted on serious relationship like a woman traditionally does.

This movie is great when you realize tom was summer's side guy all along. She never took him to meet her family, she introduced him to any of her friends. The guy she ended up marrying was her boyfriend for years, probably. Whenever she got upset with him, she went to go see Tom and then would come back to him when things settled down.

The point is he is a guy who puts the pussy on a pedestal and never actually puts it down so he is lead on by his own fantasies and her basically wanting a little bit of validation. Its really that basic.
    >Women take a side
Of course they would, they wouldn't get the point of the movie. Neither of them was wrong, just acted on their own needs and never confronted their actual feelings. He wanted to idolize her and she wanted to be idolized, end of story.

He's a fricking loser that has sex with a chick that TOLD him how she sleeps around, and after they frick, he's happier than he's ever been. His entire happiness is based on her. She tells him she doesn't want something serious at the start.

That said, it doesn't hurt any less when she calls him up just to say she's married. He's moronic and lonely and miserable and she has no self awareness or care for others. They're both jerks and horribly immature.
