>earths core gets fricked up so the solid surface breaks up >floating islands are created out of parts that don't completely disintegrate, due to some gravitational bs >post-apocalyptic world where travel is done using makeshift airships and balloons >floating trade cities, each with their own bio-dome >sky pirates
mite b cool
You eman Deisel punk? Yeah, but its such a niche setting and its extemely hard to pull off. Teh already posetd TaleSpin was exactly that. Also the game Crimson Skies.
Lexx had something like that. The planet was extremely hot, barren desert and lava flows, so everyone used Gondolas to float over the surface and get to different cities built on like mountains and other tall places
I feel like the 2023 small budget film Last Sentinel is a secret Waterworld prequel >A platoon of soldiers are stranded in an abandoned military base on a near future Earth waiting for the relief or the enemy, whichever comes first.
I know that even if the poles melted it wouldn't reach Waterworld levels.
I wonder if there's any scenario in which the earth could get hit by a comet and it not be a total apocalypse and extinction. Comets are mostly water, so if we could just get a comet to burn up in the atmosphere we could flood the planet and make our waterworld fantasies real
In order to raise the ocean level by 1 meter(~1 yard and 4 inches) you would need a pure water comet with a radius of 44 km or 27 miles.
Dino killer was alleged to have a 6 mile radius
even if all the glaciers and both antarctica and the north pole melt, the world would look like

That's the key problem of climate change the people that scoff at it seem to miss. It's not going to turn the planet into waterworld, but everyone generally lives on the coasts. It would cause mass migration inland to other places as tons of coastal cities become uninhabitable.

just blockade the exits to coastal cities and shoot anyone trying to leave, climate crisis solved.

Good thing it's not real so we don't have to actually worry about it. But go ahead and keep doing it if it makes you feel better

kino and underused trope
You just described Skies of Arcadia
SOA is a fantastic game, it's a good setting/idea
You eman Deisel punk? Yeah, but its such a niche setting and its extemely hard to pull off. Teh already posetd TaleSpin was exactly that. Also the game Crimson Skies.
the crimson skies universe is indeed a nice setup but i want more dilapidated technology and a proper breakdown of civilization, not just america.
Mortal Engines had potential but they fumbled it too hard to pick up again for another 10-15 years
Lexx had something like that. The planet was extremely hot, barren desert and lava flows, so everyone used Gondolas to float over the surface and get to different cities built on like mountains and other tall places
there was a video game like that or something I dun remember
no I don't think that's it it was some reddit/kickstarter project of zeppeling galleon battles I think
maybe it never came to be
Try this oldie. By the end of the game you're engaging in huge air battles centered around around aircraft-carrier zeppelins.
Patrician taste

Waterworld was fun and entertaining. Movies were a lot better back when they could be fun and entertaining.
I know that even if the poles melted it wouldn't reach Waterworld levels.

any meteor with that amount of water would just wipe out earth.
I'll risk it.
lets roll the die.

Dino killer was alleged to have a 6 mile radius
That's problematic.
you've crushed my dreams anon, crushed my dreams!
You mean climate change won't swallow coastal cities after all?
even if all the glaciers and both antarctica and the north pole melt, the world would look like
which is slightly more kino than our current map
Hey my fricking home would be underwater. That's not cool.

Climate change isn't real, moron.
>Dino killer was alleged to have a 6 mile radius
how did a comet kill all the dinos
they weren't expecting a big rock to be dangerous
The dinos scoffed at their scientists. THEY SHOULD'VE LISTENED
>16 min
QRD on this?
it goes over the lore from all forms of waterworld media on the topic of the deluge
I saw the movie (the Ulysses cut)
theres also the book, comics, game, making-of, script etc..
>not watching on 2X
as soon as I saw that I went back to my other film(s)
Scandi bros, you will be remembered
why assume that the water would stay liquid?
It rained a lot
It does look like shit!
crazy how at the same there is so much and so little liquid water on this planet
