I really do not understand this recent trend of people who hate the source material for their show.

This is good thinking. 99% of Halo is just moving forward shooting no-name aliens. You can't make a show based on this, you need characters and story.
The books exist. They could’ve adapted those.
$0.02 has been deposited into your account from Paramount Pictures
To be fair 343 didn't look at the game either.
Frick you. I was drinking. This comment snuck up on me.
These are people who went to film school to make gay women movies, but sold their soul to make corporate slop to pay the bills. They get assigned these projects and don't say no to cash a paycheck. Then stamp their indifference on the project.
You morons all watched it, stop complaining
I didn't.
That's the funny thing. No ones watching these streaming series. They're borderline a money laundering scheme.
The frick I did, I saw the stopmotion final fight get posted here and steered the opposite direction
I don't even know what streaming service its on
I don't watch trash
pirates always win
You call watching the Halo show 'winning'?
i didn't, i also didn't watch rings of power
Projecting
Nope. If not for this board I wouldn’t even have heard about it.
I love halo (bungie) and refuse to ever watch this, we deserved the peter jackson version
My Halo buddies and I would get drunk and stream the new episode every week on one of those dodgy pirate sites. We honestly had a great time watching it because we were too busy laughing to actually comprehend what was happening
>getting motion sick from playing an fps
The shit FOV in the OG Xbox version of Halo CE gives me motion sickness after playing it for more than a few hours.
Charles Martinet said that actually playing Super Mario 64, made him dizzy since he was more used to the old 2D games.
Hahaha what a b***h
This is probably, just the nature of all people entering 3D gaming after you've already turned 30.
i do get motion sickness when playing any fps after not playing one for a while but i get used to it in like an hour
please be in london
They aren't aimed at fans of the source material they are aimed at pop-nerd culture "fans".
i swear a lot of writers have no regard for the source material of comics/games because they think it's beneath them. these homosexuals probably have delusions of writing something like the sopranos but get stuck making a product.
Every piece of media is a product. ALL of them.
yeah, the difference is in the passion put by the people making it, which most modern shows have none of it, they are all made by the numbers and meant to appeal to the widest audience possible to make profit
This is exactly it. All the streaming execs don't have any taste or know what people want so they grab something people already like. Video game, toy, book, comic, anime, whatever doesn't matter they only want the brand. Then they hire some straight out of college dei writers who don't know the source material and make their own shit OCs. They didn't actually want to make it and it shows. Look at Dune as a counter example you can tell Villeneuve waned to create it. It's not perfect but you can tell he loves the source material.
what i got from his adaptation of dune is that he is a hack, i didnt got the impression that he loved the source material, he removed all the weird stuff that made the book unique
Like I said it's not perfect but Villeneuve is much more suited for Dune then the morons making this halo show.
Why because they fight religious radicals?
no i think we need someone that isnt afraid of colors to make an adaptation of dune
Definitely the biggest flaw of Villeneuve's dune. Going for a "realistic" looking dune is boring.
another problem is that everyone acts like they got their soul stollen when i know that the fat bastard is like a crazy villian and yet in the movie he reminds me of the guy from apocalypse now (the one at the end lecturing the main character)
that pic just activated some long dormant neuron in my brain
That's weird, Albert. You never talked about Dune back in college. I only remember you talking about Harry Potter or Nietszche or whatever large technical jargon heavy literature book was mentioned by the professors.
Check this out, Albert. According to this Guardian article some stage artists are working on turning one of your favorite books, the Anatomy of Melancholy, into a stage play. I can't wait for the pro shot to appear on television. But if I watch it, will I get depression?
Forgot link.

>these homosexuals probably have delusions of writing something like the sopranos but get stuck writting marvel tier trash
ftfy
They check ESG boxes and the people signing their paychecks don't give a shit about the property, they care about being on all the lists of good investments that homosexuals like Blackrock maintain.
The show failed and the only people who suffered were the fans, and maybe the actors who had to read those asinine scripts.
Most of them don't get to pick what they work on. They were still brought up on "woke."
It's nepotistic hires. They can't get hired on actual merit, so their own creations being shit means nobody wants to pick it up. As a result, they only get work based on nepotism (or diversity) to work on somebody else's creation, which engenders hatred, jealousy, and envy and often results in them attempting to turn that other thing into their (shit) thing.
That's my theory anyway.
Maybe they are more talented than you.
these people don't posses talent, only opportunity and they squandered it.
this is exactly what happens; writers try to shoehorn in their ideas instead of sticking to the plot. apparently that was the tension on the witcher; cavill insisted that it stick to the books and games but the stronk womyn writers wanted to tell their own stories
Partly true. Every studio has an embedded clique, and they all have to be hired and given work to keep their loyalty and ensure everyone does their part to milk the company, and "diversity" is usually the glue holding it together. Until the early 2010s nepotism was considered unacceptable in all its forms, whether by white male "old boy's clubs" or by women and minorities. It still happened of course, but society at least tacitly accepted it was bad. Now it is considered socially acceptable, as long as they give some spiel about diversity, inclusion and representation or something.
>Making a halo show without Sargent Johnson
Why? He's the best character. You could make a whole show around him.
Holy. Freakin. Crap.
>People
Women. The recent trend of WOMEN who hate the source material. It's women every single time.
The key for making a good vg adaptation is NOT listening to gamers. That´s been tried and proved
Then what happened with Halo?
It actually sticks to the source material more than people are willing to admit and that's why it's so uneven in it's presentation.
343 doesn't count as the source material
Probably because he was obviously just taken from Aliens.
Yeah and Master Chief is obviously just Doomguy but in space, so what?
Because they writers and actors know deep down that they're inferior and jealous of the actual art's creators, so the consciously and unconsciously vandalize it and/or cargo cult it. Primarily to soothe their ethno-narcissism, off-beat sex habits, and/or veganas.
thats how israelites operate, they take beloved franchises and deliverately piss off the original fans
It's women. It's not the studios, the studios would've been fine with a man's plotline that actually fits halo it's women fricking things up and getting writing jobs for things they have zero experience in.
halo became american military propaganda anyway
who cares at this point
>became
Always has been
the current hires hate anything male or white.
i hope that answers your question.
It's quite simple
>person graduates film school and has a bunch of ideas for projects
>cant get funding from any of the studios
>studios only want to fund established franchises
>still needs to eat, so is willing to do one of these projects to put food on the table
>but is resentful about it and still wants to do their own thing
>so they combine their original ideas with the adaptation and you get slop
Yup. This is why The Witcher and Velma were the way they were.
I also should mention the ones that play the game well get rewarded.
D&D did a bunch of work-for-hire on shitty adaptations (like X-Men Origins) and after GoT could basically write their own check for any project they wanted. Until they rushed everything and GoT went to shit.
That's not even the worst of it, the biggest problem is their original ideas are usually just bad and so what you get is an IP you love adapted with ideas that wouldn't have been enjoyable on their own in the first place.
Directors not really liking the original source material they got saddled with adapting isn't new.
A lot of adaptations were made by directors that were at best neutral towards the source material, and many diverge so much that it is clear the director had little respect for it at all.
Take "The Shining", you think that Kubrick actually liked the book, given how much he changed from it? Or "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", vs Bladerunner.
The real difference here isn't just a dislike or ignoring of the source material, but a proud contrarianism towards it.
That happened in the past, like Starship Troopers, but I think the proudly juvenile writing-from-resentment style that is popular today makes it more obvious and obnoxious.
to be fair a lot of pkd books get changed like that
>proudly juvenile writing-from-resentment style
Pretty perfect way to sum it up
The Castlevania show is the worst one for me, but any of these adaptation probably make you feel the same if its a franchise you like. A sigh followed by disgust followed by indifference.
im dreading what those gays are going to do with the dmc anime, i cant handle another one of my favorite childhood character getting ass raped bros i just cant
There already was a mediocre DMC anime and this is probably going to be even worse. Will it be worse then DMC Devil May Cry. Thats the real question.
i know about that other anime, but at least none of the main characters got ass raped
>recent trend
you mean like super mario brothers the movie who turned the video game into post apocalyptic nightmare?
or like resident evil where the director cast his own wife in his shitty movies?
or uwe boll who literally said he's only doing these video game movies because of tax scam?
just shut the frick up
hollywood has always been like that
>yes I DEFINITELY THINK THIS IS BAD but also IF YOU CARE THEN FRICK OFF
sure buddy
>game's developer 343 studios
>343 studios
>made halo
more offensive than anything else. You know israelites are dropping another turd and apparently whoever was protecting the ip is gone but atleast get your facts straight
It is really really easy to understand.
A company pays for a bunch of IPs and toss them out to their ALREADY-ON-PAYROLL writers team.
The writers do whatever they want.
This is B shit, this is not AAA Snider events
Imagine if you have to fire and rehire writers for every IP you got, they were a bunch of babies with AI imagine when they get fired and rehired only on the topics they are fans off
Here's that epic kino I was telling you about, bro
Kai was actually fine all things considered. It's everything else that was fricking terrible, that horrible little asiatic with the bowl cut being the worst of it.
these are losers who are nearly 200k in debt from art school who think they're the next shakespeare. Imagine Cinemaphile trying to write a screenplay for Halo. Every pretentious whim would find its way in to mock and deconstruct the material. It appears only Japanese writers are willing to embrace the absurd. Arrogance is a poor substitute for skill.
