for starters, kurtz is a suit. that should tell you everything you need to know. but since the first film was a success it ran to kurtz's head and he became insistent on being more controlling since he convinced himself that he was a key reason the movie did so well. that's one of the few reasons empire had its significantly darker tone and that effect carried over into jedi. but as i said before, kurtz wanted a darker ending for return of the jedi since at that time a sequel trilogy and a sequel sequel trilogy were planned, and kasdan was also in on it, but lucas was more concerned with presenting the story as he wanted to in the first place, which was a fairy tale with lasers.
not only is he an npc but he's likely a boomer and a manchild that was salty about the movies being for kids

No, the prequels were bad for misunderstanding the language of cinema. Just because they have interesting ideas, doesn't automatically make them worth a damn if the acting, dialogue and visuals are ass. >>muh politics >sequels only doubled down on it
Star Wars has always been political as war itself is the continuation of politics in a different form. What they hated was the story being centered around trade disputes, just as Jurassic Park fans hated Dominion for being about bugs. And for the zillionth time, having female and non-white leads is NOT POLITICAL. >>muh cgi >sequels only doubled down on it
Uh, no. A lot of the shooting was in real sets and locations, and they still made heavy use of actual puppets and costumes. >>muh shit characters >sequels only doubled down on it

bad bait but i'll reply anyway >No, the prequels were bad for misunderstanding the language of cinema
pretentious term that has no meaning and a nonce complaint >Star Wars has always been political as war itself is the continuation of politics in a different form. What they hated was the story being centered around trade disputes, just as Jurassic Park fans hated Dominion for being about bugs. And for the zillionth time, having female and non-white leads is NOT POLITICAL.
star wars has been political since the first film, both within the universe and george throwing takes at the audience. and true, having a female or minority lead would not be political if kennedy wasn't clearly politically motivated in doing so >Uh, no. A lot of the shooting was in real sets and locations, and they still made heavy use of actual puppets and costumes.
the sequels did do a fair bit of location filming and costumes but there were no puppets used lmao they didn't even use miniatures like the ot and pt did. there was so much cgi used they literally used a blue screen in the midday while filming so they could get more sunlight in. why else do you think the budgets of these films cost twice what the prequels did? it wasn't just for reshoots. >NONE of the sequels characters reached the "heights" of Jar Jar or Mannequin Skywalker.

it's true anon, both shows made people re-evaluate the prequels. also anakin was a knight when he took on ahsoka as his padawan, the cgi show doesn't cover the entire conflict like the 2d series does, it starts six months into the war and at that point anakin was recently knighted.
This picture is moronic and this idea is moronic. It's a well-established phenomenon that people who long for something new and refreshing, like a job or relationship, will grow more fond of their old thing once they realize how good they actually had it. Y'know that saying "The grass isn't always greener" ?
The same applies to consumable media. You can play a sequel to a game or movie, find out it sucks ass, and realize that the original wasn't actually all that bad after all.

Christ, all I did was point out how "reddit" and "troony" have been tossed around so much on here that they've lost all meaning by this point.
I'm OK with him leaving Star Wars.
But it's disappointing that he hasn't done anything since then.
He sold Lucasfilm to keep his employees working. If he just cashed out and folded the company as he retired he'd be leaving hundreds without jobs.
This. This is also a big part of why he decided to retire when he did. Lucasfilm was not thriving in 2010-2011.
