        >People were straight up calling for death
Welcome to the internet, moron, people will call death threats for whatever dumb shit they feel like.
Even cringy videos on twitters get people sluring out death threats.

          Anonymous

Yeah, honestly the idea of "online death threats" are pathetic

Unless the person is literally posting your address or is showing any actual proof they will, in fact, try to kill you, literally who the hell gives a frick? Oh boohoo, some moron halfway across the world said he'll kill me.

        >People were straight up calling for death
Let's be real here, for the most part is was people posting stuff like this or saying have a nice day rather than actual death threats. I do think the response was over-the-top though.

Never heard of it but if that image is anything to go by social media tards must have gotten a mental breakdown if any of them were reading it.

      https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/you-are-not-special-childrens-book
Basically, twitter users rushed to each other’s aid to defend the idea that everyone is special.

        Anonymous

        I should have known.
It's hard to judge since I haven't read it, but I don't even consider the message nihilist and doesn't depress me. People who believe to be super special are a plague and thanks to social media and the obsession with identities and labels literally every boring loser believes to be the most special of all.
Progress only happens when people recognize imperfection. The validation-addicts on twitter never get better at drawing since their consider their amateurish shit their special "style". You only get better if you have fun improving and admiring art that is better than yours and trying to learn from it.

what's the point of improving if you can't improve into becoming "special"
I work out and read because I want to be better than others

            Anonymous

I distinguish between special and good. I enjoy improving because it makes me good/better. Depends on how you define special I guess, if they mean special as in rare then maybe, if they mean special as in unique best ever then it's stupid. To me special means that the whole person is special, like some avatar of god or something, not one out of millions that reached a certain level of proficiency for a subject. But again I haven't read the comic so I am probably missing context.

            >It's hard to judge since I haven't read it
Neither did twitter, they just saw the handful of pages posted as tweets and lost their shit.

Yeah sounds believable. This is how they get mad at media other artists for being toxic or whatever too, out of context scenes or simply anger because something is getting more clicks than their stuff.

            Anonymous

because self improvement is for you, in whatever way or goal you chose. Being "special" is totally abritrary with no standard definition. We are all unique, individual, and autonomous. We all matter. If someone what's to make that kid-friendly and dumb it down to "special", well that's just insulting to the audience.
            Be you, frick labels.

              >We are all unique, individual, and autonomous. We all matter.
the point of the comic was the average person is disposable and doesn't really matter. something like 90%+ of the people on this planet are absolutely unremarkable and not special. myself included. only a tiny fraction of people will even be remembered history wise. everyone else will be forgotten eventually.

                Anonymous

Everyone's special to someone, everyone matters to someone. Claiming that we're all the same and interchangeable because we aren't Alexander The Great or Napoleon is stupid.

More like npcs rushed in to defend the idea that nobody is special and that everybody's a loser like them and always will be. The comic itself is a cope for people trying to act like accepting their status as a loser is maturity rather than trying to pursue anything.

Thats kind of a moronic statement. Its such a basic idea that even pre-schoolers can understand it. Sure, not everything about you is unique, but the entire set of traits and characteristics that makes up "you" is. On the other hand, its also moronic to think that being different makes you better than everyone else.

The problem is I am special, it's not in a way the world really cares about, I'll live a silent life in the eyes of media. Even many who meet me don't truly know me.
But those I touch I touch and in the end I'll be happy with what I did.
