I still find it hard to believe that Hey Arnold takes place in Washington. With a school named PS-118, you’d think it’s set somewhere in NYC

That's perfect.
Pitch a West Virginia cartoon (or any of the other blanks)
Transformers: Prime was set in Nevada.
The Pig War was an actual historical event

Everybody knows that thanks to Oversimplified History on youtube.
Springfield isn't in Oregon.
Yes it is. Matt Groening finally admitted it some years ago.
It takes place in the fictional state of North Takoma.
Takoma is in Washington.
Yes and a fictional state of Takoma could be anywhere
He said that he based Springfield on his hometown of Eugene, Oregon, not that Springfield is canonically set in Oregon.
Springfield and Eugene are next to each other. I can 100% confirm the comic book guy was patterned after this miserable fat frick that used to work at Emerald Comics in Eugene.
Springfield is in northern Kentucky according to Behind the Laughter.
There were two versions of that episode as I recall. I think the other one said Southern Missouri.
Always thought hey arnold and sitbc were in nyc for some reason
Me too, everybody had their own business, a lot of european immigrants, old buildings, a quite active orthodox israeli community with a Rabbi that actually spend his time teaching kids and mentoring them if they break any law.
Do rabbis even do that much? Like the guy was a priest, a teacher and conselour for kids, that's a lot of work.
Hey Arnold is set in Brooklyn, WA.
This is like trying to claim Bob's Burgers for San Francisco
Putting Simpsons in any state is just wrong.
He also got it wrong watch behind the laughter season 11 episode 20 they say Northern Kentucky family 20 minutes and fifty ish seconds into the episode aka right before the end of it.
Simpsons is in Vermont and this loser couldn't even finish the list
Forgot Chattanooga cats but put random baby shows
The Simpsons can be claimed by like 4 states honestly, hell it’s skyline is literally Springfield Massachusetts skyline
>that one off gag where a map of the greater Spingfield area is literally just Texas with a small town tacked onto the panhandle
This.
While Groening said that aspects of his hometown in Portland Oregon made their way into the show, (evergreen terrace was a neighborhood he was familiar with, and some characters are named after streets like the lovejoys)
It's purpposely kept ambiguous to both be a joke and to help the writers fit whatever they want into Springfield's geography.
Take it from the writers, Springfield is in any state you're not in
I think emplemon put it perfectly
“Springfield isn’t in America as much as it is America”
They named the town Springfield specifically because it was the most common name for municipalities in the US. The intent is that it feels like it could be anywhere, including (you)r hometown. In terms of design, it's mostly based on a generic Midwestern town from a state like Illinois or Ohio, with elements of Groening's home state of Oregon.
>Simpsons is in Vermont
too many black characters for that
Sorry anon, $NEED crashed on black Tuesday
This image is bullshit. some of these even take place n fictional states you moron. some of them don't have any states at all.
What here is wrong, exactly?
Doesn't Phineas & Ferb qualify for Utah? They mention in the show that the setting took place at a tri-state area.
I've lived in Utah since I was a teenager and never heard it referred to as that. We're part of the 'Four corners' states but that's about it.
Tri-state is used to describe more midwestern and new england metropolises where state lines and major cities border close to each other.
The Tri-state Area is a fairly well known term for the greater metropolitan area of NYC that stretches into New Jersey and Connecticut.
If you’ve never been to Washington and only know NYC as the big city in pop culture I can see that, but HA is definitely inspired by Seattle
I'm confused once some of those cartoons like one season and isn't the Simpsons supposed to vary in what state it's supposed to be in like the size of the town?
Crazy that Fairly OddParents isn't on here.
Yeah I would've figured FOP ran longer then TTGo
did sniz and fondue actually get a full series free from kablam?
No
Although I wish it did.
>ace ventura cartoon
Grim.
why is the harper house up there when recess lasted longer?
I guss you could count Saving Me as taking place in Utah.
Or Invincible since the Guardians of the Globe Headquarters are in the Utah Rocky Mountains IIRC.
I hate that I know this, but Steven Universe is based on Delaware, not Maryland.
Did Twelve Forever really get that many episodes? It can't have more episodes than Ghost and Molly McGee. That one is also set in Iowa.
Twelve Forever died after only one season, but was confirmed in universe to be set in Iowa. Molly McGee is longer and Brighton is clearly based on Davenport, but I don't think it was ever stated in universe that they're in Iowa.
Delaware is labelled as SU in the OP image, Boco. Maryland is labelled as Craig of the Creek.
IIRC there's an episode of molly mcgee where brighton's visible on a map and you can see lake michigan. it's in southern illinois
What in the frick is "Hoops"?
o rick and morty/family guy clone about basketball
Oh just shoot me. I hope UK is not involved officially with that. Or U of L.
A woke Netflix cartoon show aim for high schoolers
>woke

Repetition is redundant.
Seeing teen titans go having an episode about Stockton was trippy..
What no they didn't
yes they did
https://teen-titans-go.fandom.com/wiki/Stockton,_CA!
>Napoleon Dynamite cartoon was only 6 episodes
IDAHO BROS, OUR RESPONSE???
You mean to tell me all this damn incest on this board and there's NEVER been a show set in Alabama?
Most animation studios are in California and they absolutely despise the South. They refuse to even acknowledge the existence of the Dixie states unless they absolutely have to. Squidbillies exists because Williams St studios is in Atlanta, and Huckleberry Hound was made by people who grew up before WW2.
Weird. You'd think with the recent black representation push they'd be all over setting stories in the niggest states.
Because the black culture they're after is the one that was fetishised for 40 years: Harlem Revival and wesr coast G-Soul. Southern black culture has existed in a blind spot to them.
I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't at least partially out of spite; a feeling that southern blacks aren't "as good as" northern/west coast blacks because they didn't join their 'brothers' in the mass exodus from the South that occurred in the 1960s.
What about Motown?
A quick check tells me that Montana had Wildfire, a hannah barbera cartoon that lasted 13 episodes.
In what state does Danny Phantom and my Fairly OddParents take place ?
The latter is in California.
Gravity Falls should be Oregon the Simpsons is set in the midwest
Springfield is on the ocean.
>Gravity Falls should be Oregon the Simpsons is set in the midwest
gay who grew up in the midwest, Springfield is obviously a coastal State, it's doesn't have that "stuck in the middle of nowhere" feeling most midwest towns do (Ogdenville is absolutely meant to be a midwest town though). All shit aside it always felt to me like a West coast state specifically. Washington or Oregon work best.
>Huckleberry Hound
The show was never set in any specific area, sometimes he'd be in completely different countries or time periods.
>Longest Running
Shouldn't ATHF take it for NJ over Bob's Burgers? Longest implies longest stretch of time, not most episodes.
if we ignore the 8 year gap between S11 and 12 of ATHF then bob's burgers will be older in just 2 years..... though ATHF is still older for now.
Courage the Cowardly Dog is set in "the middle of nowhere", but Kansas is acceptable.
Courage the Fly confirmed it is Kansas
I wish this were the timeline where pic related was the longest running Jersey toon
The only thing I know about this show is there is a comic where the girl lets the two guys frick her butt in exchange for doing hero stuff.
How based in the series? Worth watching?
It was pretty fun for what it was, basically a sendup of the giant robot anime premise, but instead of a plucky young teen who gets thrust into an intergalactic conflict, it's a 20-something fatso who could barely give half a damn about saving the universe but does it since he enjoys being able to smash things with the giant robot he modified. Sadly, the show is in a nearly inescapable limbo due to being written off for tax purposes, meaning a lot of shit would have to change if it were ever brought back.
We bare bears for California, courage the cowardly dog for New Mexico and Nevada, squidbillies for Dixie states. King of the hill should have Montana.
‘KOTH’ is Texas.
>Washington
>Hey Arnold
I didn't realize that Washington has a city that was copying the Bronx down to the fricking Italians
Why are there so few cartoons set in the deep south? Actually, I can think of one reason
Damn, old Samurai Jack was so good.
I can't believe Cartoon Network let them do entire episodes with little to no voice acting multiply times.
As a non-burger it does strike me as odd, I've always seen the south as a really atmospheric setting with the bayous and forest and old architecture and southern gothic shit but perhaps it's creator/exec bias, they all seem to be from either New York or California.
There have been multiple jokes over the course of the show that place it several different (impossible) locations. Springfield can't be in Kentucky because it's by the sea and has a port and Kentucky is landlocked. It doesn't, and shouldn't, have a definite location.
>he doesn't know
See
And before you say "KotH", Arlen is a suburb of Dallas which is the 'Midwest' part of the state. Houston is the 'Southern' part. Bunnicula is set in New Orleans, which is considered a 'black cultural centre' and so gets a pass.
The only good thing about the South is the food. Imagine all of your negative stereotypes about Americans and hicks and double them. Anyone with a career in cartooning leaves and never comes back. The casual anti intellectualism and broad mass conformity wears you down. Really any small conformist community is like this but the South can almost fetishize it at times. Let me out. Texas is hell. Almost as hot too.
Arthur took place in PA? I guess eventually SOMETHING good has to happen here.
Who's the frickhead that made this? Hey Arnold is most definitely set in New York.
Op did and so is their Redditard homosexual opinions in this thread.
Simpson is older than aqua teen
I'm strictly talking about Bob's because it was the one centered in New Jersey.
No it is not, the fictional city of Hillwood is a mash-up of pre-gentrification Brooklyn and Seattle but is canonically located in Washington.
If I can interject.... and I'm surprised no one pointed this out yet.....
Aqua Teen lasted longer than Bob's Burgers
I thought the joke with like half these shows is that they were intentionally vague or contradictory so they could take place anywhere or nowhere.
I love that Assy Mcgee is on here
No way the Mormons haven't made a cartoon set in Utah yet.
>The Legend of Calamity Jane
>only aired 3 episodes
Damn.
You know, I think NJ should be Aqua Teen.
