>This guy made a post online saying that a company is better than another company, he must have no personality!
Do you realize someone could just as easily say that you use cartoon memes as a replacement for a personality?
Dreamworks is all over the place in quality and constantly see-saws from being super high quality that absolutely mogs Disney and Pixar (Shrek 2, HTTYD, The Last Wish) to absolute dogshit that's barely watchable (Shark Tale, Over the Hedge, the Croods, Abominable).
Illumination is just always kinda meh, nothing to write home about. Their only real stinker is that awful live action hybrid Hop (pic related).
Disney and Pixar on the other hand tend to average toward higher quality which is why when they release absolute dogshit like Chicken Little or Cars (2) it's so shocking.
Dreamworks is a 50/50 when it comes to movie quality. Sometimes they're putting out instant classics, sometimes it's Illumination-tier bullshit only of interest to toddlers. It's weird.
Disney low-key copied them >Spanish characters >wishing star >characters from other stories >villain who wants all the power >one was in production way longer than the other
The Last Wish is no shit the best animated movie released since circa 2015 and I will die on that hill, its actually good unlike other shit people jerk off over like Spiderverse
They even fricking copied the 2.5D/animation in 3rds, oh my god. It's so fricking transparent.
>what if we made The Last Wish into a bad musical with a tumblr-tier type cast with an afro-hispanic girl and an evil dilf, and all of her friends are conveniently of different races and wear different colored outfits >and also, all males are either stupid, mean, incompetent, or evil
It's ironic that the queen mogs Asha as a protag right at the end, with a better motivation to stop her husband, only for them to of course conveniently make it so only Asha can save the day.
I'm so tired of Disney's brown girl isekai era. I'm not shocked at all that they're stealing ideas to try to stay afloat and still flopping anyways lol.

I'm still laughing at the whole magnifico advertising >LOOK AT US! WE MADE AN UNAPOLOGETIC VILLAIN!
meanwhile not only TLW didn't advertise Jack and barely made Death a thing in the trailers, it made it sound like it's just a chase film
I just don't get how a studio that was actually finding their footing with Tangled, Zootopia, Wreck It Ralph, and Big Hero 6 ended up dropping the ball so fricking hard with their next batch of movies. Like, the flaws in BH6 fricking pale in comparison to the flaws in Strange World or Wish. At least BH6 has fricking heart to it and I actually give a shit about Hiro and Baymax, even if it does have bloated cast issues.
>Antz >Shrek >Tusker (cancelled film about elephants on southest Asia) >Shrek 2 >Shark Tale >Madagascar
Their early computer generated film projects are something else.
Christ, I remember having no fricking faith in this movie. It was the first animated movie I felt like I was being dragged to see just because my little brother wanted to go and my parents weren't home. Holy Shit, I loved it so much it was the first movie I saw multiple times in theaters.
The Road to El Dorado could've been better. For a film announced in mid 1996 and released in early 2000, you'd expect a stronger storyline and characters with more layers.
>cannon, powder, artillery, projectile, fuse, army, country, revolutionary
Those are words that you'd expect to be said in KFP2, yet they are never said. Also, the word "firework" is only said twice in the whole film for some reason.
always have

I like both because I'm not gay
>Welcome to Duloc
>An inclusive town
>Here we've made a movie
>Bout a girl who's brown!
More like Illumination completely humillates Disney AND Dreamworks.

I'm looking forward to their redemption arc
Kung Fu Panda 2 is a load of unfun shit.
You're not the real sharktaleanon

I didn't like the movie, and manchldren jerk it off way too much... BUT HOLY SHIT I CAN'T BLAME THEM WHEN EVERYTHING ELSE IS SO SHIT.
The Last Wish is no shit the best animated movie released since circa 2015 and I will die on that hill, its actually good unlike other shit people jerk off over like Spiderverse
The movie is unironically good. It's one of those films that the more I think about, the more I like it.
They even fricking copied the 2.5D/animation in 3rds, oh my god. It's so fricking transparent.

Because even if it was bad BH6 still tried to have somewhat of an identity
Is it because Lasseter is gone?
DreamWorks has really strong highs but also abysmal lows
Neither studio really won this year given how badly both Wish and Ruby Gillman blew it
Where the frick is my kung fu Panda 4 Trailer DreamWorks?
DreamWorks mogs Disney
Sony mogs Disney
Netflix mogs Disney
Even fricking ZAG Toon mogs Disney, they can at least write decent music
Movies just need to be more general again, not hyper specific stories from the directors past and resonate only with themselves
>Antz

Their only film directed by John Stevenson. Shame.

Nah, the "Good Disney" is on another level.
The Road to El Dorado could've been better. For a film announced in mid 1996 and released in early 2000, you'd expect a stronger storyline and characters with more layers.
It's very frustrating how Kung Fu Panda 2 is an average film, because it had the potential of being one of the studio's best.
