I usually hate the contrarianism around big studio movies, especially on here, but I genuinely, genuinely cannot understand why the entire world seems to like Dune 1 and 2. As in, it actually feels like bizarro world

If you have only played in puddles, a pool will feel as deep as an ocean.
no it won't. it's really easy to see and reach the bottom of a pool. they're totally different

samegayging won't save you
What the frick am I being "saved from"?
I usually hate troonys that change the image harsh on their boring pics to evade filters. Still do.
Game of Thrones ruined the political intrigue genre. It used to be good. Now it's gay. Watch San Guo (Three Kingdoms) 2010 for absolute kino
It's really not. Costumes both ahistorical and ugly, fight cinematography choppy and incoherent, actors hammy. It's good but not great. Really only worth watching for Cao Cao.
I liked it. I rarely go to see movies anymore. If being free of the onions means being like you, then I don't want to be cured.
Yeah I tried but it's fricking boring. I enjoy the aesthetics but it is fricking torture sitting through those movies.
Self-serious tone over the popcorn slop features. Tone is everything: once it feels smart, you're smart watch smart things no matter how dumb it gets.
It would help your homosexual post if you bothered to list why you don't' like it. But yes without a reason you are just being a contrarian gay.
Trust me I'm not a pseud. I even sorta liked the first Disney Star Wars movie so I can enjoy my sloppa and admit to it too
>It would help your homosexual post if you bothered to list why you don't' like it
Just felt like it had no substance. It treated itself way too seriously in parts that it shouldn't, then treated itself too unseriously in parts that it should have. The concept of a warrior prophet rising out of the desert sounds cool, but the little it showed of this was 80% delivered through quips from Stilgar (even if it was sorta funny). There weren't any real machinations, and even though I like him as an actor, he really wasn't believable as a charismatic messiah who unites an entire world. The gene refinement project thing that the women priests were running sounds interesting too but the movie barely touches on it in a meaningful way. Everything else just dragged along in a way too serious tone, and the one time it does something interesting in the first movie with the empire's elite troops planet, it fricks it right up again in the next scene when they get jobbed like any regular soldiers. I am just genuinely stumped that it seems so popular, even with normies
Lol yeah it was actually watching this video and the guy's praising the most basic shit that made me make the thread. Maybe you're right, and normies just don't want to say it was mediocre because they're afraid to look like they "didn't get it"
>Everything else just dragged along in a way too serious tone, and the one time it does something interesting in the first movie with the empire's elite troops planet, it fricks it right up again in the next scene when they get jobbed like any regular soldiers.
All the villains in Part 2 jobbed. It was very underwhelming to watch.

They are shit OP and today you were not a gay, characterless emo zoomer lead, visually monotonous, too long. Crap.Even the hans zimer score is weak. They make David lynches look a masterpiece They exist purely as a forced bot marketing campaign. They are terrible films.
why is their planet black and white
It's bots and npcs. Like I don't have any interest in the franchise
I like the set designs and score. And the cinematography. I’m easy to please when it comes to science fiction because all of the little futuristic devices and machines interest me. I consoom
I concur. Dunc is a series about medieval knights and familial rivalries in space and that is enough for me. The content of the films almost doesn't matter
Desperation for something good.
I don't get how could anyone like the boring harkonen planet part. Cool, eclipse sun all day, cool, gladiator match. But the ugly prostitute spending 20 good minutes seducing the edgy frick overstayed its welcome.
people like visuals
the books are too long and cringy btw. it's a joy not to have to hear all the gary stu details of everything inside paul's head
Nice story, decent direction, decent aesthetics, nice music. What's so wrong with it?
Dune 1 was ok, but Dune 2 kinda sucks, the score was not there and there are not memorable scenes in it.
>there are not memorable scenes in it.
the three worms flanking paul into battle is unironically on par with ride of the rohirrim
masterful bait
Dune 2 felt fresh to me because it's actually a movie. Character arcs, romantic interest, comic relief (but not quips). Then we have to consider that it's a big-budget sci-fi film that never pokes fun of itself, it's all played straight basically. Visually the film isn't as a beautiful as Villeneuve's previous works but it still maintains a high level of quality.
