He can't physically do shit to you, it's like a little Chihuahua barking madly at you
Id casually stroll around him, and be like "yeah wake me up for chow" lmao
If a drill instructor got in my face I'd just laugh

What are they going to do, beat you?
no, but you would get court marshaled and dishonorably discharged, which is basically the same as having a felony in your background
This literally doesn't happen. They just process you out eventually but and its the same as if you never enlisted. The process can take up to a year however so its basically a prison sentence
>and its the same as if you never enlisted.
>so it says here on your background check that you were dishonorably discharged from the military?
>NEXT
Doesn't happen that way retard
Yes it does. I served. I saw many pissants come and go with a DD or BCD
Why lie
No, the background chack will return with a "uncharacterized discharge".
No employer gives a shit about military service record except individuals with a military background themselves. Did you not attend history class, anon? Despite all that patriotic nonsense that gets shilled by presidential candidates, the U.S. professionally does not give a flying fuck about military service. This apathy was a major revelation of the Vietnam War, even though it wasn't exactly a new concept.
>No employer gives a shit about military service record
practically any employer would care about this because they know you have to be a real retard to manage a dishonorable. Probably means you're a thief/addict
>Probably means you're a thief/addict
You actually believe in addiction? LOL
LMFAO even
A dishonorable discharge is almost as bad as having a felony. It shows you are a fuckup and possible a thief and even the military, which has abysmal standards, wanted you gone
Holy shit youre stupid.
>that doesn't happen
Kek. Physically assault a DI or his assistants and they'll beat the shit out of you and when they're done the MPs will arrest you and send you to the brig. You will be court martial and possibly given prison time along with a dishonorable discharge.
A guy in my basic literally punched drill sergeant. He just got kicked out. Definitely treated like absolute dogshit obviously but just a normal discharge lmao why are you lying
>drill sergeant
That's army, I said DI, those are marines and I actually saw it first hand while in boot camp
>can't read
>responds anyway
>retard believes one but not the other despite both being anecdotes
>Physically assault a DI or his assistants
What does that have to do with anything? Of course assaulting somebody will give you troubles with the law, that's common sense. We are talking about acting like a clown like Pyle did.
Oh that, then yeah, they'll send you to PCP for failure to adapt and send you home
Pyle was just an idiot who couldn't get it together until the end. Purposefully being insubordinate will get you arrested.
What you describe only happens if you commit a crime at boot camp, and acting like a retard like Pyle did is not a crime. Almost all entry-level discharges get a "uncharacterized discharge".
Failure to obey a lawful order
General
There's 2 I remember from the UCMJ which can be applied to anyone
If you get kicked out within the first 180 days of service, it's just a general discharge. It's treated like you never even enlisted. The only exception is if you actually break laws or something
Are general discharges common? Are honorable discharges less common than a general? Do you have to go above and beyond to get an honorable, or is it pretty much the de facto discharge as long as you aren't a complete fuck up?
General usually is for when you didn't really do anything wrong buy you also sucked big time at the job and they don't want you there.
The reason I'm asking is because years ago I was in the Navy for four years, and got an honorable. I never really thought about "other than honorable" or "general" because I've never heard of anyone getting one. Looking through this thread made me start reading about different types of discharges, and they make it seem like General is more commong than Honorable. I've seen a few people get bounced out with the Big Chicken Dinner or Medical. I just did my job and got out with no issues and got an Honorable. You must have to be a real shitbag to get a General Discharge lmao.
>You must have to be a real shitbag to get a General Discharge lmao.
Its easy to piss off the wrong people. People end up getting the green dick for all sorts of reasons
You don't have to be a wartime hero to get honourable discharge, just doing your job adequately and not getting into any troubles will do it.
That's what I figured. I think I was a pretty decent sailor. Did my job, didn't start shit, didn't get into trouble, I fit in with everyone. I wasn't Joe fucking Navy that who had my coveralls starched and ironed everyday to go work in the plant and had my nose up someone's ass by getting every possible qualification.
You can even get into trouble, just don't let it be something retarded like a felony
>are general discharges common
Yes. Usually it's people who realize they don't want to be in the service and intentionally fuck up as badly as possible, and you really need to be a fuckup of massive proportions because otherwise they'll tell you that you're fucked and you'll either do your time or get a dishonorable discharge
Was that true in the middle of the Vietnam war/draft?
war crimes galore
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%E1%BB%B9_Lai_massacre
No, there is a wartime exception clause
Jesus anon just realize when your done
>realize when you're done
When people talk about shit that's not true, they get corrected. Sorry if that hurts you.
>gets blown out by a dozen different anons
You're definitely done lmao
Your mom's pussy has been blown out by a dozen different anons.
>court marshaled and dishonorably discharged
lmao no. You'd probably just get a BCD. Bad Conduct Discharge, at the worst. Most likely just an Other Than Honorable Discharge. Fucking Dishonorable Discharge is shit like rape and murder tier. You'll be doing some serious jail time along with that.
>DD
>basic training
No, but like others have said, any retard that voluntarily shows up to basic training and then refuses to follow instructions will be administratively separated, which is called an Entry Level Separation. Once that process starts, the failure of a candidate will have to sit around on base and work menial maintenance duties on base while they wait months to be administratively processed out of the military. Those will be very long months, where you will watch your classmates graduate and new classes cycle in. If you refuse to work, you will face legal punishment and potentially end up with a Bad Conduct discharge, which reflects quite poorly on you.
The reason that you follow instructions from a DS/DI/RDC is because you chose to show up and knew what you were getting into. If you can't play this little game, then how can you be expected to behave yourself when your actions have actual consequences?
>how can you be expected to behave yourself when your actions have actual consequences?
I can't. Now what does this have to do with them not letting me go and instead torturing me for months like it's Korea?
The military is recouping the cost of transporting your retarded ass to one of their training facilities. Even if you are a fuckup who has been pulled from training, you are still a member of the military until the military decides you are not. They could legally keep you for the duration of the contract you signed, which would mean 3-4 years for the average enlistee. Being allowed to fuck up and leave within the span of months is an act of mercy.
This. You think getting to boot camp was free?
So if I pay the bus fee everything's fine?
Or wait, that's not an option because the military is such an insulated world everyone in it has gone insane and they're actually pretending I do forced labor against my will?
It seems like you have a point to make but you're taking a very long time to just make it. Spit it out already.
I asked you a question.
Ask it again without the edginess and maybe it'll come out clearly that time.
Why can't I pay the bus fee?
Because it's more than a bus fee.
Okay, I'll pay that too. I've been there less than 24 hours and the military get 300 trillion dollars every year.
>pay the bus fee
lol yeah tell SATO that you'll send them payment in advance just in case you punch the DI in the face.
Nothing you are doing is against your will because you signed the contract and you agreed to join the military and all that it entails. This concept clearly doesn't make sense to you, but your legal signature binds you to any agreement stated above it. The best part is that you can still choose to just hold up your end of the bargain and walk away with experience, training, benefits, and a solid network... or you can just be a self-sabotaging buttfucker with nobody else to possibly blame.
>Nothing you are doing is against your will
I refuse to work. It's against my will. You tell me I've already cost them money. I tell you I will pay it back. You have no good reason why that's not an option other than the military getting off on torturing people without consequences because it's so insulated.
And if you refuse to work, there are legal consequences that can be levied against you because YOU signed the contract. You don't just get to buy your freedom because that was not stipulated in the contract.
>You don't just get to buy your freedom
Do you realize the unhinged shit you're typing? You can't "sign a contract" to do away with your human rights.
I can't? So what did I sign? You're being dramatic about it, but as a servicemember you do cede some of your rights as a citizen for the duration of the contract. That's just how it is, whether you can believe it or not.
Problem is there's no real justification for it. They don't get anything out of forcing me to stay for months doing nothing if they already know I won't do anything. It's practically childish stubornness.
They get manual labor out of you, so you aren't doing nothing... unless you choose to do nothing and instead end up imprisoned. I should have added that even if you fuck up and end up on the chopping block, as long as you work while your separation is processed you will still be paid based upon the rank you entered training with. So you aren't a slave, which I wanted to make clear in case you assumed
>unless you choose to do nothing and instead end up imprisoned
Why can't I pay back what I cost? What difference does it make to the military? At the end of the day I'll be gone either way.
There needs to be punishment for insubordination. It's a cornerstone of military discipline. It's not about money
You still signed a contract. Childish or not, you gotta deal with it one way or another.
>yo, I know I said I'd voluntarily sign up to do work but now I want to renege on that
>Nah man, I'll totally pay you back, I promise
>just like that promise I made on the contract I reneged on, yeah.
>I promise
What "promise" are you talking about retard? Why can't I do a bank transfer?
You signed a legally binding contract. The federal government owns you until it feels like not dealing with you anymore. Simple as.
Americans really are cattle holy shit lmao
Every military is like that. Don't fool yourself.
It's sad the propaganda they feed you make you think this is normal. Hope you can afford to move to a first world country some day
Ah, so "first world" is when your military has no discipline or rules and people can do whatever they feel like
I see, definitely a clear sign of advancement and civilization
>FIRST WORLD IS WHEN THE GOVERNMENT OWNS YOU
american education
So if some "uncivilized" country tried to invade yours and your military just refused to follow orders because of "their rights" you'd be cool with that right?
"FREEDUMB" is definitely more important than having a functional military, according to you, right? It's funny how you sound like a parody of a retarded American because usually non-Americans get that this is a ridiculous concept.
Also look up the origin of the term first world, you delusional gay.
Name one military that allows you to leave whenever you want
I fucking swear, people with zero life experience have no clue how serious a legally-binding agreement is.
You can't pay back what you cost them in exchange for your freedom because that option is not in the contract. You gave them your word that you would hold up your end of the bargain, which is to train for your job and then perform your job. In exchange, you receive pay, benefits, and further training.
I am going to bed now. Please don't ever attempt to join the military. Do not become somebody else's problem. If a draft ever happens, just shit your pants in front of everybody and talk about how you buttchug heroin or something.
>Please don't ever attempt to join the military. Do not become somebody else's problem.
Retard, the VERY reason I want to join is to make garden gnomes waste money and time on me instead of killing and invading poorer countries. I'm basically Ghandi.
Yep, of course this guy is an anti-semite. What a fucking shocker.
Only one of those posts is mine you retard
You're one in the same in my eyes if you agree with the same retarded position. All anti-semites look the same to me. If you don't want to be confused with that retard, don't act like him.
It's okay, everyone was new once. Just lurk moar and learn how the site works to avoid embarrassing yourself like this again
Does the US military not work for Israel? Is that reality antisemitic?
You can't sign away your rights in a contract, brainlet
>I'm leaving the thread now
Yeah I would too if I made such a retarded post
What rights are you giving away in a military contract?
>bus fee
Odds are they also paid for you to fly out to where you were training unless you happened to be a resident of that state. Then there's food, the uniforms, the accomodations...
The other anon already spelled it out though, you signed a legally binding co tract so the military owns you until they deem fit to be rid of you.
You pay for food, accommodations snd your uniforms out of your paycheck in the military.
>torturing
If you consider boredom torture, I guess.
You dont know what youre talking about.
>Refuse the draft and you go to jail
>Go to boot camp and call the trainer a gay, they discharge you with no jail time
Kinda stupid
you retards never went to boot camp. (maybe I shouldn't call you retards, you shouldn't join the military, especially not now, but still. you're retarded for talking about things you haven't been through)
they do physically strike you. they aren't allowed to, but they still do it. they beat recruits. everybody looks the other way. everybody knows it's going on, but nobody stops it.
this guy is also retarded. you get a failure to adapt and they let you leave after a shitton of paperwork and time
Is D'nafrio the most underrated air in history?
pyle did nothing wrong
it was a little rude not to bring enough doughnuts for the whole class tbh
He literally slaps and chokes Pyle in the first lineup scene. Did you even watch the movie?
That's only because Pyle doesn't care to retaliate or even defend himself. Being abused physically and verbally by the platoon is nothing compared to his home life.
He would literally have you executed, you fucking retard
uh, that would be illegal.
If you actually want to/have to make it through basic training, then pissing off your sergeant is an easy way to guarantee your life will be absolute hell. They control every aspect of your life, and every aspect of the lives of everyone you live and train with. When the lights go out your bunkmates will beat the shit out of you for a packet of cigarettes
>He can't physically do shit to you
That wasn't the case in the 70s
Or in the 60s, when the movie took place
>He can't do shit to me or I'll sue!!!!
>Anon spends the next week scrapping shit from the floor with a toothpick
>he can't physically do shit to you
He doesn't need to touch you to make you miserable
I’m a stoic. A student of Marcus Aurelius. There’s literally nothing he could do.
Always funny to see people talk about their traits as if it makes them indomitable in a particular situation. Immaterial tell you something, there's quiet types in the military as well and DIs are very adept at making them just as miserable as anyone else. You dont know misery, you've never struggled in your life, you presume to know what your response will be in hypothetical situations because you imagine yourself to be an exceptional human who will defy the odds. I tell you this, the DI smiles when he sees people like you
>gunny punishes everybody because you have an attitude and don't follow orders
You do know what's going to happen next, right? Marcus Aurelius is going to shield you from a dozen of angry guys that want to beat up your stoic ass
>Marcus Aurelius is going to shield you from a dozen of angry guys that want to beat up your stoic ass
Based Marcus
>I'm a stoic
Let's see how stoic you are when you go a week with only 2 hours of sleep
a stoic would just walk away from that horrible situation anon, fuck that shit
You don't get to walk away. That's the point.
>I’m a stoic. A student of Marcus Aurelius.
Damn dude, you must be really old. What was Marcus like?
He was pretty neat. He even made me his bussy manservant, very cool!
Based.
Jesus m8 you should have just used the Navy Seal pasta.
The MPs come get you and beat your ass when no one is looking.
>He can't physically do shit to you
you'll get court martialed
>physically
He'll make you scrub each other's assholes and shout at rocks instead
well yeah, theyll just make you run a fuck ton or do 500 push ups
I spent the first three weeks in the Army laughing my arse off at this kind of shit, (or trying not to). Really was entertaining and a lot like the movies.
You could tell the actor was trying not to laugh at R Lees sick adlibbed bantz. I wonder how much of that scene was unscripted, especially the "wipe that look off your face/choke yourself part."
I would have loved to have a few drinks with him and swap stories. I'm sure the man's a fucking riot
I live in his hometown. I leave shit at his memorial bench every now and then.
Iirc, almost everything Emery did was adlibed and the actors just went along with it
that probably makes this the most kino scene in the movie then, especially if it was all ad libbed. I like the edit from over his shoulder in the middle of it because he might have been losing his shit.
Disrespecting an NCO is a field grade article 15.
What I laughed because you were really funny Sir honest.
what if you just say you hate garden gnomes and the ZOG etc..
can they just kick you out of the Army for that?
Can't be racist once enlisted because muttmerican army is just mexicans and blacks and they would beat the shit of you so maybe the garden gnome take could be enough...
TL:DR fuck the draft
Why not just be a cop? Nearly everyone who's a cop today is also a member of the proud Boys or some other white Nationalist movement.
Deluisonal post. Cops are the ultimate zogbots
he can beat the shit out of you. at least in the marines they can
if he has to resort to violence that means he lost
if you fuck up in the marines they drag you into sand pits and beat your ass. violence is the best teacher pussy. they don't kill you they just give you a beating. every man should be beat at some point
>every man should be beat at some point
I'm sorry you had to live through whatever fucked experience got you to this point
it was nothing bro I was a state champion wrestler prior. I need the strife
They have to test out pussies cuz they are sent to the frontline and crying for a bobo is unacceptable and a liability for your whole platoon
The second this guy got in my face like that, I'd roll my eyes and say "look dude, I pay my taxes. You work for me. Quit barking like a fucking dickhead and just show me how to fight a war or I'll report you to my local representative and your ass is going bye-bye."
Change his fucking tune real quick, I bet you.
>I pay my taxes. You work for me.
>LISTEN TO ME SCUM! I'M GOING TO TORTURE YOU MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY SO YOU CAN GO FIGHT MUSLIM TEENAGERS TO KEEP OIL EXPENSIVE! IF YOU'RE LUCKY YOU'LL ONLY LOSE 3 LIMBS AND RETIRE TO BECOME AN ALCOHOLIC MONSTER!
The true American dream
>He can't physically do shit to you
he can make you stand guard duty or make your life hell on basic with other bullshit asignments
>He can't physically do shit to you
Yes he can and he will. They get very creative about it. In the 60s during the Vietnam war they'd have your drafted ass executed for being a commie bastard if you forgot your place.
What if you ask him to punch you in the mouth? Like
>SIR, IM TRYING, SIR! SIR, CAN YOU PLEASE PUNCH ME IN THE MOUTH, SIR? SIR, IM NOT BEING SARCASTIC, SIR, I BELIEVE I WONT STOP SMILING IF YOU PUNCH ME IN THE FACE, SIR
So what happens?
If you don't play their game, they just kick you out. If you punch them, you will get dog piled by other instructors and boots, spend time in the brig and get a dishonorable discharge.
>former boot camp instructor
There would just be a "friendly fire" accident and his parents would be informed that he "died in the line of duty". And not a single person would have seen a thing. That's how we've been doing things for a very long time now.
They beat the shit out of you back in the Vietnam era
I bet with recruiting goals as they are, you could trash talk him/her/xir all day long. Worst punishment allowed is probably like 2 pushups or saying "Black lives matter" 10 times.
lol na nothing like that. I enjoyed my time. the marines were a blessing.
Drill sergeant was a skinnyfat gay too anyone in that room could've kicked his ass
>too old and too many injuries to get drafted
Feels good man
I find it weird how half this thread is literally about people imagining themselves in situations they don't want to be in.
Like, just don't enlist in your fantasy, guy. Walk away from the ChiMo recruiter.
Internet tough guys are a strange breed
Is it weird that I wanted to cry during the scenes Pyle was being bullied and seen he shot himself. I'm going to watch this tomorrow
He should just shot the gay military cuck, that's what I would do.
>if you get drafted you can just fuck around and get kicked out of the army no issue
If you didn't say you were an objector you'd see jail time for being a shit
it actually is pretty funny when drill sergeants get in your face lol. the moment I arrived in reception on the bus at night was insanely surreal. watching the silhouette of the drill sergeant walk out the building and getting closer, it's like meeting a celebrity cause you've seen so many movies with drill sergeants and shit like that. the reality is that most drills do not want to be there, they waste a lot of time bitching and telling stories, fucking around on their phones and chatting with each other in front of you. It was very disappointing tbh
I heard a story from a guy who claimed the drill instructors went into the bathrooms and pissed all over the floor and then made 2 fuckups clean it up on their hands and knees. This was my cousin's friend and I am not sure if he was bullshitting.
He also claimed someone had to put their bed outside and sleep in the rain one night for hitting on a senior woman.
I would simply beat my drill instructor to death, whats the worst they could do?
