Reminder that the modern insistence on portraying autism as nothing more than a cute quirky girl, is a way by the same women who bullied real autists 10 years ago to now feel better about themselves by reclaiming the label and subsequently taking it away from actual autists, justifying their mistreatment of them and helping them sleep better at night
They're not doing it for (you) or for other autists, they're doing it for the sake of their own moral conscience
The issue with this line isn't that it's unrealistic
Trust me, autists can and will talk like this
The issue is that it's portrayed as some kinda BRAVE and STUNNING #TRUTH YASS QUEEN SPEAK IT moment, as opposed to what it really is- cringy and lame- and that feels jarring
Also this
You hate this line coming out of this character, despite it not at all sounding unreasonable for an autist to say, because you subconsciously feel how disingenuous it is
Esther's looking at June contemplating whether or not to beat her afterwards, I don't think this character is exactly a role model for autistic children
Yeah there’s a reason they only started doing this once autistic people came out and talked about how shitty that was like I along with basically any other autist 10 years ago would much rather just have been called moronic rather than deal with that
It's not that they can't or don't understand the concept. It's just more of a conscious effort on their part to exercise it whereas it comes naturally for normies.
>It's just more of a conscious effort on their part to Pretend to have it* it whereas it comes naturally for normies.
Normalgays are some of the less empathetic and worst people you'll meet
At least most autists are genuine in their expression, they can be nice or they can be buttholes like most people, but whichever it is, you'll notice
Normies hide their true nature like snakes
>Normies hide their true nature like snakes
and recently that snake has been wearing the skin of autists
normies realize they dont wanna be normies anymore, now they wanna be autists but without the stigma or "unattractive" symptoms, they commercialized autism and want actual autists out
This, a ton of people are claiming to be autistic nowadays just cause they're kind of socially awkward or weird, it gives them leeway to get away with shitty behavior and oppression points due to their supposed autism. Autism and ADHD are a fad now.
Yup, you can see it all over the place on TikTok and Twitter.

>I feel a little unproductive guys. >Have you been checked for ADHD? >My phone is distracting me. How do I fix this >Have you been checked for ADHD?
This shit goes on and on forever there
Autistic people really do act that way. It's because they're inherently selfish and don't understand empathy as a concept.
Empathy is useless without sympathy. Besides, people with autism are annoyingly strict with morals. If anything, they hold everyone, including themselves, to high standards.
Autism can be two ended - You can have zero empathy, or you can have hyperempathy. Autists exist on rules. those rules tend to be consistent, but kind of alien to those around them.
Your brain isn't wired the same way mine is. You think I get empathy from 'neurotypicals'? Frick no. If I act differently, it's because I'm 'moronic' or 'a creep'. But suddenly if I say I'm autistic everyone suddenly starts getting sympathetic and understanding.
I literally wrack my brain every day to try and act the way you c**ts seem to want society to run and all I get is fired. Frick off.
If I don't act empathetic, it's because I haven't seen empathy enough to initiate it.
I thought they were setting up her whole family to do more. They've kinda just been there in the background.
Untrue

Maybe true. I always felt like I cared more about others than other people when I was kid (I've changed since then, though). I was always compulsively polite and dreaded making other people upset.
No, I can shut down during overwhelming situations and be unable to speak though, it’s just temporary
Me too. Sometimes if I'm in a bad mood I have trouble speaking full sentences.
You don't want one, you just think you want one
When I'm alone I'm very messy and sloppy. But anytime I've had a roommate I've kept things pretty neat. I'd probably just clean up after her.
Libby is just sheltered and has anxiety, she's not a sperg
SO HECKING BRAVE
I BET SHES SELF DIAGNOSED
I once heard someone justify self-diagnosis by pointing out how expensive it is to get tested/diagnosed, especially without insurance (which I can vouch for as somebody without insurance who was diagnosed earlier this year)
That's like justifying pulling your own teeth because dentists are expensive.
A good amount of autistic girls are like this and the other 70% are either troon or fakers who took the label the second most of us got into high school and college and made it known how much the Obama era babying autist “bestie” trend was absolute bastard behavior
basically if you weren't showing symptoms in school or before the 2010s, you're not autistic in my eyes
end of
that shit isn't sudden onset, you don't get it at 20 when it's suddenly popular to have it because you like playing with squeeze toys
Yep, i got diagnosed with asperger's way back whan i was 14, i'm 33 now. My mother actually was a big help in me learning how to be truthful without being as blunt as a brick.
Basically her second line is saying “I’m autistic and not every can handle my unbridled truth” plus she’s like every other autistic person in media basically just being some awkward nerdy c**t
>have autistic gf, not too severe, the most worrying thing is she turns non-verbal in high stress situations >she doesn't want any kids because she fears she might pass down the 'tism our kids
Is that even a thing with autism?
There's not a lot of research into autism being hereditary. As an autist myself i don't want kids either. But it's more (for me at least) kids being terrifying for me. They're loud and unpredictable, which are things that just set me up to 20 in terms of stress.
are fem-autismos good girlfriend material?
No better or worse than NTs, it's all about the person.

This makes me think. Does a neurotypical person even have the ability to write an autistic person and vice versa? The differences seem too significant and both seem incapable of fully understanding the other.
you can write autistic people, you can even write real autistic people, but having your character being a non-verbal shrieking mess isn't something most people would probably wanna see
also imagine the outcry not cutesying up your mental moronations for your audience
Typically, if medicated correctly it gets rid of the depression that leads to bad hygiene. With some level of motivation we’ll take to it like a fixation, and yeah it’ll probably consume our life but we do it well it just depends on what we’re motivated to do.

Effexor and Abilify, and skipping them makes me physically i’ll

To be fair that does sound like something an autist might say. It's way more realistic than shows that turn autism into a superpower that makes you a genius.
By the time she dropped out of college my girlfiend was living pretty much like this in her dorm room. I took her in and "reprogrammed" into being a dutiful housewife, it's been good for her all things considered.
My biggest fear is one day she'll relapse into this.
If they just changed the line to something like "sometimes I don't think about what I say" or "speak without thinking" it could have been played off smoother
>physically i’ll
meaning what?
any side effects? my girlfriend skips hers sometimes because she claims they make her put on weight and kill her sex drive
They do both of those things to me too, but skipping a day or so won’t change it since the medications have half lives.
I usually get sick to my stomach or throw up
No, I can shut down during overwhelming situations and be unable to speak though, it’s just temporary
My shuts down in unfamiliar situations or surroundings, big crowds are big no no for her. To the point where she'll signal for me to get her out of there and take her home, she always gets really bummed out when it happens, like she let me down personally.
When it's just the two of us she's a chatterbox.
Her libido is very high and she stays in shape, to the point where she rationalizes she doesn't really NEED the meds.
Sounds like your average autist
>Stuck with a c**t, an "autism superpower" c**t, or a weird big baby afraid of a random thing.
I don't like representation one bit.
No, not at all.
Hi black anon
Why are the only pleasing designs in this show the Ghosts, the MC’s dad and her israeli friend?
Everyone else is a fat, monstrous blob of mystery meat with vaguely Asian features.
June is cute
I think you're just racist, specifically towards asians.
"Representation" directives should be complied with maliciously.
So most autistic girls?

sounds about right. it's all fake and a repeated rendition of what happened with "nerd culture".

Empathy is useless without sympathy. Besides, people with autism are annoyingly strict with morals. If anything, they hold everyone, including themselves, to high standards.
no, 'normies' make the effort because they're good people. Robots forget because they're self-centered donkey-brained buttholes.

This was me when I was ten so it's not too far from the truth. I now look back on it with embarrassment.
t. actual high-functioning autist
Not everyone can handle June's unbridled truths
Honestly i think that lines almost worse than that gay ghost line like god damn it
gay ghost line?

basically amounts to the same thing
A good amount of autistic girls are like this and the other 70% are either troon or fakers who took the label the second most of us got into high school and college and made it known how much the Obama era babying autist “bestie” trend was absolute bastard behavior
there is a difference to being a c**t and being blunt, anon
basically if you weren't showing symptoms in school or before the 2010s, you're not autistic in my eyes

So the problem is inaccurate representation then?

This makes me think. Does a neurotypical person even have the ability to write an autistic person and vice versa? The differences seem too significant and both seem incapable of fully understanding the other.
you can write autistic people, you can even write real autistic people, but having your character being a non-verbal shrieking mess isn't something most people would probably wanna see

You act as if they're different species and not just the creations of modern psychiatry
Every time I see this, I think she's about to explain how there is no God, or how 13 do 50.
isn't this what all the autismos do on Cinemaphile?
are fem-autismos good girlfriend material?
It depends.
on?
Same anon as before.
It depends on if she’s medicated.
Source: I’m medicated
what changes?

I will consoom the SH2 remake so hard, thanks for reminding me to look forward to that.
was it autism?
That is "suspension bridge effect" where the adrenaline of near death is confused with love.
That’s just a Japanese meme
>hold up a mirror to autists
>"REEEEEEEEEEEE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THAT'S NOT MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! *hsssssssssssssssssssssssss*
Haha, classic Cinemaphile.
To be fair that does sound like something an autist might say. It's way more realistic than shows that turn autism into a superpower that makes you a genius.
The funny thing is that this is basically her only scene
How to get autist gf?
You don't want one, you just think you want one
at the height of my ADHD i lived like that
i have no clue how i ever thought to myself that thats even fine to a minimalistic degree
>recording yourself
Only the mentally ill and serial killers record themselves.
By the time she dropped out of college my girlfiend was living pretty much like this in her dorm room. I took her in and "reprogrammed" into being a dutiful housewife, it's been good for her all things considered.
My biggest fear is one day she'll relapse into this.
I'm a guy and my room looks cleaner than hers
The only realistic autist I've ever seen in a cartoon was Rocket's son in Young Justice S04, a total sperg who literally REEEEs.
If they just changed the line to something like "sometimes I don't think about what I say" or "speak without thinking" it could have been played off smoother
**ill, sorry
I’m not at my computer but I wanted to respond
>physically i’ll
meaning what?
any side effects?
my girlfriend skips hers sometimes because she claims they make her put on weight and kill her sex drive
They do both of those things to me too, but skipping a day or so won’t change it since the medications have half lives.
I usually get sick to my stomach or throw up
Never seen my girl do that.
How bad is your autism?
I don’t think it’s that bad, but people can tell even on my meds
you non-verbal?
No, I can shut down during overwhelming situations and be unable to speak though, it’s just temporary
My shuts down in unfamiliar situations or surroundings, big crowds are big no no for her. To the point where she'll signal for me to get her out of there and take her home, she always gets really bummed out when it happens, like she let me down personally.
