People have kids mostly to (subconsciously) mitigate death anxiety. Having offspring lets you believe that "a part of me will go on after I'm dead" which makes the years spent waiting to die feel a little less empty. That's it.
except humans have free will that they can use to completely go against their biological programming, even if we've been evolutionarily streamlined to make babies for thousands of years there are people who never have sex then kill themselves, how does that play into the big picture of things
Life is pointless, cruel and painful. It's an utter nightmare on all counts. The only good thing about it is fantasy and fiction. People just didn't have the means before but now they'd rather just spend their days in a bubble of fiction which gives them positive stimuli than live out in misery due to heckin' morals and le society and some fugazzi sense of obligation to others. Society is just one person roping in the other person into wasting away for nothing.
Sure but admitting to that is ultimately just as meaningless a gesture of vanity as any account society uses to justify its own existence. Camus was right, the only real philosophical question is, "Should I kill myself, or have a cup of coffee?" But in the end, one needs more courage to live than to kill himself.
The universe is indifferent and suicide is the easiest/most logical course of action. Choosing to live anyway IS an act of courage in light of those facts.

After reading Benatar I believe that negative ethical people are the only ones who deserve to live and are brave in doing so. The rest are cowardly b***hes who should commit suicide (I include myself among them)
Natures design is for every species to complete with one another for survival. The strong procreate to pass on their genes while the weak die off.
The goal is to create stronger generations that will evolve over a long period of time to adapt to their environment.
However, since people have made living easier with fewer things to kill us, we are allowing the weak to thrive to pass on their weak genes, creating weaker people.
There is no end, it's a process that propagates itself. You can either find meaning/enjoyment in the process itself or you can wail against it, but there's really no recourse other than to have a nice day.
Alright go back to coping how it’s a “choice” that you’ll never have kids. I’m happy to breed and spread my beliefs while your lineage dies out. Cheers!
>I’m happy to breed and spread my beliefs while your lineage dies out.
You can probably spread your genes effectively but religion is on the decline and communities with high TFR due to their belief systems (quiverfulls for example) have very low retention rates. Your genes may spread, but your beliefs realistically will not, at least past one generation.
>realistically
“Realistically” the decadent, collapsing system we inhabit is going to die before my beliefs. This thread is already a good enough demonstration of why yours won’t survive, people they aren’t life giving or creative. They encourage paralysis and extinction, ethnic replacement in ones homeland, and myopic hedonism that doesn’t look forward to a future beyond itself. That kind of shit doesn’t create any permanence and doesn’t last because it literally cannot. The state media will continue desperately shilling your beliefs for a time, only to realise the native inhabitants of its nation won’t find any reason to continue as they’re quickly replaced. The soviet union attempted to enforce atheism at state level and the country collapsed and had to backpedal on it. Once people, white people, get their shit together, they will drop atheism because it isn’t useful. That’s nature.

>Once people, white people, get their shit together, they will drop atheism because it isn’t useful.
That's exactly why that won't work. Religion is useful, absolutely, but that isn't why people believe in it. The belief systems of a religion and the useful behaviors it teaches are both just functions to improve its memetic fitness. Both are needed for the religion to survive at scale. It's the former function that's failing, not the latter.

You aren’t getting what i’m saying. Belief is use, infact it is biologically the foundation of belief, things that are of use to us. The only reason people ask questions about why we are here, where we are going etc is because ingrained in it all is the ego desire to find things of use for itself. I want to know why the universe began for what it means for me, this nonsense about knowledge for its own sake is pure theology and abstraction. What gives people a reason to live is what they believe in, because axiomatically that is how your brain works, it needs to fabricate some set of elemental rules in order to perform any operation in the world. Atheism has been a disaster for the white west, it statistically correlates with mass immigration, leftism, homosexual/ degenerate hedonism spread publicly. It is a biological suicide mechanism. When its adherents fade away, those left won’t be impartial or ambivalent to these questions, able to be “converted” to secularism, they will only exist because they rejected it. The problem is that you’re viewing atheism as some ultimate fundamental truth and the human brain as something which seeks fundamental truth, which are both ideas rooted in metaphysical platonism, assuming a telos for life and the universe. The actual “truth” is that atheism only corresponds to a current world feeling, a sense of disconnection between subject and object, isolation, a view of infinite space as some kind of offence and belittling to the self, it’s a construction of enlightenment myth and not some sort of apprehension of the truth of reality. Like anything else it disseminated and emerged through random ideas, images, and societal structures which will die out. People are sponges and their beliefs are reactions to what they see around them, and nothing more inherent than that. Atheism has undoubtedly failed in the west to anyone with even a shard of a crystal ball to look into, and that makes it dead.

i think this is why a lot of atheists on the modern right have become pagan larpers. basically appropriating religion because they’ve realised philosophically secularism is sort of a dead end. you end up in a position where you have to accede that all of human sensory information and reason is just imaginary nonsense construed by an organ randomly and aimlessly formed to make clones of itself. it doesn’t exactly inspire great art or works generations of people live and die to make. in the enlightenment there was the salvation myth of science that kept it going but that’s slowly becoming a joke
>spread muh genes
I like how the athiest cope for this never goes to it’s logical end point. If this were the case it’d lead to extreme eugenics to make better odds for your own genetic offspring, and eventually it’d lead to nothing as people realize the Earth is doomed. Scientism has no logical end point, which fits as it has no logical beginning either
One of two things: 1, you believe in God and a higher purpose and life beyond death. 2, you don’t and thus everything is basically meaningless in the end. Take your pick.
Transhumanism is a meme anyways. Not only is it never likely to happen, even if they somehow did get their utopia of living in a machine, those computers will themselves eventually grow old, get damaged, etc and they will ‘die’. In a sense. Everything has an expiration date, that’s one of the most basic facts of existence and it’s bizarre watching Athiests try to get around it.
what do you mean "the point"? it's supposed to be an evolutionary instinct, nothing more. if you don't procreate, your genetic lines end, so genetic lines that prioritize procreation have an advantage. that's it.
>genetic lines that prioritize procreation have an advantage
What advantage is that? People who have children just ensure there will be people to suffer after them. I think it's even simpler, and children exist because it's a result of humans having sex.
Let's have a look at this map. The least intelligent people are having the most children, meaning there's no thought involved at all.
"advantage" means that genetic line is more likely to propagate, nothing more. genes don't care if you're happy, if you have a big pay check, if you're smart, etc. all of those traits only matter if they make you more likely to procreate. a rich, smart guy who decides he doesn't want any children doesn't pass his genes on. a poor, stupid, trailer-trash guy with 15 illegitimate children has passed on his genes many times, so his traits have contributed more to the overall gene pool than the rich guy.

If there’s suddenly this claim that something came out of nothing, much less that everything came from nothing, then it breaks their own rules.
