she's popular among cosplayers. cosplayers don't usually read comics good for them
>milkshake controversy
QRD?
Heather Antos and her friends at Marvel went out for milkshakes and posted it on social media. Comicsgate chuds got triggered by so many diverse women working on Marvel and started hateposting about Heather Antos.
A bunch of major comics writers released statements condemining comicsgate and supporting heather antos
I hate cis white men with a passion. All they do is cry. Heather is the queen of Cinemaphile and I’ll fight anyone who has anything bad to say about female writers like myself.
I’m a bit confused. Why are you LARPing as a radfem, and why is it a response to my comment?
I’m not larping as shit, I genuinely hate white male comic fans, they started the sexist comicgate bullshit and can’t stand women who actually are good at shit. I just fricking hate them.
this isn't really as interesting or shocking as you think it is
Leftists haven't been edgy or anti-establishment in 10 years
Your problem there is thinking anyone treats "being anti-establishment" as a good personality trait. Did you ever watch that episode of Family Guy where Brian because a Rush Limbaugh dickrider just because Obama and the Dems got in power and he needed to be a contrarian?
This seems like a skitzo thing, and I genially don't care.
/co/mblr has it right enough. Keep in mind that Antos was getting triggered by shitposting about her editing work. I'd put her in the same bucket as Zack as far as easy to rectally ravage. This is the same era that got mockingbird whining over bullshit harassment complaints an eisner nomination.
Note that her career has taken her to IDW now, which I think suits her. Politically and professionally.
Don't sweat the shitposting or the ironic shitposting. Cinemaphile is love and these frickers glow in the dark. Just report the shit if it gets out of hand.
Antos and all the other editors went out for milk shakes. Marvel has really shitty editors, so a lot of the comments were directed at how bad they are at their job, but it was spun into sexism.
It's just another "Nerds being butthole psychopath and wonder why they being seen as outcast" again
butthole? Yes. Psychopath? LOL. Frick no. If you believe that, you're as easily triggered as Zack is.
Not caring is an appropriate thing. For her part, I think her editing tightened up after the incident.
Gotta be real what the frick does a comic book editor even do?
At Marvel? Nothing.
A comic book editor gets the writer's script and sends it back with all kinds of changes that need to be made. They should, in theory, be catching typos, telling the writer to delete useless scenes, and catching continuity errors.
In practice, some editors really help make the comics better and some are useless and some are actively harmful, but unless you actually work at Marvel you can't distinguish between "mediocre comic that was a disaster until the editor salvaged it" and "mediocre comic that was good until an overzealous editor fricked it up"
Women can't take criticism.
It was pretty popular in Cinemaphile a few years ago; I read some of her and it was pretty interesting. Then her ongoing died and I hear whatever came next wasn't as good so I never checked back.
No idea about this shit; I give 0 shits about "controversies"
>is she popular
In a cliche way, a lot of her early success seems to be the original swelling marvels push which was shitty but had a decent og run mixed in.
Honestly not sure if her popularity stuck after that though.
She's only every been popular with waifugays and bawd cosplayers
I’ve heard of Gwenpool once and but have not read it since I can’t be bothered to care about derivative capeshit anymore. I thought that the concept of her power seemed interesting, but I wish they had just let it be it’s own thing instead of using the name and costume to imply it’s just female Deadpool.
Also I know nothing about the “milkshake controversy.” Is it just chronically online Twitter users making a big deal about nothing? Because that’s what it sounds like.
It's mostly just comicsgate having a hateboner for Heather Antos (yai boi Zack called her a diversity hire and cum dumpster).
A bunch of senior Marvel people release statements condemning comicsgate and supporting Antos.
Heather is the queen of Cinemaphile, I’ll defend her always. I met her once and she inspired me as a writer who’s both female and POC. I know every person on Cinemaphile loves her too. (Since most of us aren’t cis white guys here and are all feminist)
The Hastings run is really, really good and, for the most part, has a definitive ending. It's widely considered one of the best runs of a new character in years and gave the character a huge boost of popularity.
Now is she "actually popular" enough where subsequent runs sold worth a shit? No. But that first run was VERY good and endeared her to a shitload of people.
Cute.
Why were assburgers in knots over the top pic?
It’s just women in their 20s taking a group selfie at work. Women around the world do this sort of thing everyday.
Casualgate was JUST getting off the ground after like 3 years of false starts, and Antos and her colored hair was the exact fuel Based Boys needed to point their fury at the ~~*wokies*~~ fricking up their capeshit.
If they don’t want wokies fricking up their capes hit then maybe they should make their own comics and show everyone how its done.
Men are pathetic crybabies, they aren’t like women. They won’t. Women are literally the reason modern marvel is readable, lmfao
That's the best part, a lot of them did try, and they all failed horribly. One of the bigger ones made the classic noob mistake of kickstarting a comic without thinking about the fact that it costs money to mail things. There was a point where he was shipping each individual floppy comic in its own personal fricking box, something no one who had ever paid even casual attention to a success comics kickstarter would've done, but they were all morons who didn't know anything
They've tried with mixed results. It's not suprising that a bunch of noobs would struggle. What's also suprising is exactly how hard the anti types went after them, trying to prevent them from being published by literal nobodies, as we saw with that debacle with Waid and Antarctic.
Still got some mediocre comics, and some storytimes of pain out of it.
She's been more off than on. Had a stint in that marvel direct to web infinite comic...that didn't go too great.
You can tell by track record. Some creatives actually do better with a strong editor to keep them running smoothly. During this time there were some blatantly obvious flubs in the star wars books antos was working on.
Antos spends a LOT of fricking time getting into stupid, petty political battles. Possibly too much for even Marvel.
"muh diversity hires with colored hair" basically.
Ya boi zack called her a bawd and c*m dumpster so there's a bit of incel hate in it too.
Pathetic.
Someone tell them to instead put their energy into getting laid than acting like middle schoolers and harassing girls taking pics online.
Men shouldn’t be allowed on the internet or anywhere near comics unless they’re feminist, that’s why
nice revisionism thread
>Schizo who hallucinates existing in the Marvel Universe
It's an interesting concept. Like a dumber version of St. Elsewhere. So I can definitely see why it would have a fairly wide appeal.
Kill all male comic book fans and let us Cinemaphileyuties handle it! Anyone agree? Men should be banned from reading/writing anything. Cinemaphileyuties stick our booties in the face of anti feminist incels and fart.
Gwenpool is nothing but a gimmick character created out of some gwen Stacy variant cover arts. She had one decent comic and a good design and now she’ll fade away into irrelevancy with the exception of cosplayers and fan artists
She was good only with Hastings writing so far. All others who tried her were bad.
She is just like Deadpool, only handful of writers can do justice. All others wants to write but don't have talent to make it funny and compelling.
I thought her comic was pretty good and this is coming from a Marvel-hating DC fanboy. The only Marvel stuff I like is Spider-Man related. I actually only read Gwenpool because I saw an out-of-context panel of Deadpool beating her up (based) and he tells her that most people think she’s an alternate version of Gwen Stacy, which caught my interest, as I did think she was an alternate version of Gwen Stacy and didn’t care until I found out she wasn’t.
Gwenpool was never popular, she had a small but dedicated following from people who were fans of the her when Chris Hasting was writing her. That series was too meta to ever have mass appeal, and nobdy since has written her well at all.
Niche character that happend to crossover with the cosplay community.
Explain Superboy Prime's popularity then.
Not that Anon but Superboy Prime is a manifestation of the writers’ and fans’ frustration at DC’s messy continuity of the time; he retained his popularity because he’s just a cool character
Unbelievable Gwenpool was great, I have no idea who those terminally online bawds are but from the brief description ITT I can tell they have no talent.
The original run with guri's art is amazing, the rest is hit or miss
Does anyone care about her now that Ghost-Spider exists?
What do you mean now, Gwen (male) happened before Poole. Either way, she's a shit character and even if you're in it just for the porn, it all sucks. It's as if her blandness resonated so strongly it even affected creative output on smut, I call it Overwatch syndrome.
Hastings run was great but that's because Hastings is a good writer. Ever other comic with her in it misses the mark so hard that any hope of her as a character is kinda gone.
What about Gage?
The "Milkshake Controversy" was six fat balding youtubers screeching about women existing, no normie ever even heard of it. And even if they HAD been plugged into Casualgate enough to hear about it, Gwenpool has nothing to do with any of the people involved, it was written by Ryan North.
>six fat balding youtubers screeching about women existing
Which one wasn't balding? There's 7 of them in the image.
YWNBAW
I really enjoy gwenpool, she reminds me of the best parts of 80s she-hulk and is a fun look into the marvel universe. I was always a sucker for the she-hulk character that became a villain just so she and her husband could stay relevent and not die. That being gwenpools entire character is an interesting take, her constant evolution isn't just new writers its her adapting to survive. The problem is i think she got fricked over by appearing at the same time as spider-gwen and she also got the "this is just lady deadpool" treatment despite being her own individual interesting character. Its one of the few series I still/would get physically.
