no one considers sever samurai a masterpiece. youre thinking of ran, harakiri, or maybe rashamon. seven is just considered one of the best "samurai" movies. like japans version of westerns
Harakiri is so good even my 50 year old dad who doesn't watch foreign shit loves it. I tried to show him Ran afterwards, but he didn't care for that one.

>bicycle thieves is also still fricking amazing.
it's really good, but unlike 7s it is definitely too simple, predictable and straightforward to give me masterpiece vibes. Ozu is overrated as well.
I think it's an absolutely fantastic movie and think it counts as masterpiece in the sense of how it was crafted (the village set design is phenomenal ) and for me I was gripped the entire time, but I think it lacks a bit of depth to truly be considered Kurosawa's best
the entire "Japanese Golden Age" is a film school hipster meme, just like "Italian Neorealism" and "French New Wave"

Would you rather have what they’re making now?
>including pedotoons on the left
nice try
If it's art, it's art.
A pretty nice film
Cool, I've wanted to see it for years. The clips I've seen look awesome.
Harakiri, Yojimbo and Ran mog it.
Kurosawa didn't direct Harakiri
Yes, but it still mogs Seven Samurai.

>Seven angry men 🙁
>Seven angry men, Japan 🙂
a masterpiece on uncoordinated battle scenes
Yes. The chaos of it all is well done.
It's pretty good but not even Kurosawa's best. Not even his best Samurai movie.

I just ordered this on blue ray. What am I in for?
Best Macbeth adaptation to date.
It's a great movie but Yojimbo and Ran are better.
It's a flick. Toppest tier flick, but still flick.
its a masterpiece. not a meme. bbc was right about the top 3. bicycle thieves is also still fricking amazing. i really liked it.

>bicycle thieves is also still fricking amazing. i really liked it.
Frick that movie, I am still sad
>harakiri not even on the list
i dont think it actually needs to be said, but no, the bbc is not right. that is a universal sentence and can be used in regards to any topic at all

i've seen more remakes of seven samurai than seven samurai, because i've never seen seven samurai.
If you can't conclude your movie in 2 hours at the absolute maximum then it's worthless garbage.
why tho
because 2 hours is the maximum his brain can allot him to not have to pee, vape or scroll through tiktok
if you have to ask, it's just a meme
Its pretty excellent but some other samurai films are better

I felt the ending was very poignant though.
>just watched this last night
>Cinemaphile has a thread on it
this is why you guys are alright.
