Is it worth watching? I’m very wary of Asian movies because they tend to be very over-acted and full of cliches.

No. It's Rick and Morty Interdimentional Cable, but a movie.
It's shit.
It's unironically a Rick and Morty fan fiction written by a reddit moderator that ended up becoming its own stand alone story.
I had the impression this movie was a critique of Rick and Morty (Reddit) mentality. I felt it refuted the “nothing matters I’m smarter than everyone” mentality of Rick and Morty and the fan base.
what
It was an interesting idea for a film that was brought waaaay down by the fact that it was directed by two guys with exactly the sensibilities you would expect them to have when you look at their IMDB photos. Other than the parts that were direct homages to other works (Wong Kar Wai tributes) it wasn't that compellingly directed and the movie is in love with a really tired and played out form of quirkiness that really brought it down for me. I know its a cliche at this point but the best way of putting it is that it's a potentially compelling story that is smothered with industrial grade reddit.
Its frustrating, because there are aspects of it that I find creative, audacious, interesting etc. and I want to commend a movie with that DIY sensibility (five person FX team) getting so much traction but the movie did not do for me what it did for so many others.
>I find creative, audacious, interesting etc.
>reddit speak
Go back, Black person.
>common adjectives=reddit
nah
homosexuals like this guy become hack video essayists on youtube
Its the best movie of the year. Chuds are triggered by it on principle.
>they tend to be very over-acted and full of cliches.
>t. bigbrain
Only if you want to see Shortround from Temple of Doom acting again. Otherwise it’s a hard pass. It should have been called, “Something Something my daughter’s a Lesbo”
Watch it.
It's very overacted and full of cliches. First half is trash, but it comes around and ends up being a half decent movie. Watch it with some friends for a decent night of laughs.
Asians are actually a majority of the planet.
Watch it for Shortround he's phenomenal in it. Unfortunately the movie's hampered by the flat relationship between the mother and the daughter
it's good, and it's not an asian movie
funny how it filters Cinemaphileners aka incels
I thought the same thing it’s like an optical illusion for people who lack empathy for others
I think i made it about half way before falling asleep. Not bad at all but kinda overhyped imo. John dies at the end was way better
The Wave also better
it's a marvel movie for people who brag about not watching marvel movies
It shit on strange being a better "multi verse" movie than that
a turd is better than diarrhea, color me fricking surprised.
At the end of the movie I just wanted to give a punch in the face of everybody involved in the creation of that piece of crap.
Anyone who can stand to watch past the first three minutes (where you are introduced to the chinese immigrant main characters and their kitsch sentimental chinese-canadian home) you are not fully human.
I knew the movie was going to be garbage after the first scene with the mirror shot. LE VISUAL STORYTELLING is such a reddit thing.
>Anyone who can stand to watch past the first three minutes (where you are introduced to the chinese immigrant main characters and their kitsch sentimental chinese-canadian home) you are not fully human.
It was a great film that shit on nihilism so it's good in my book
It’s an American movie
It's pretty good, i'd say its worth a watch at least once, it got near universal praise on almost every platform and critics loved it so by obligation Cinemaphile has to dislike it for no good reason. I'm not even sure why it gets compared to Rick and Morty so much because its a movie that teaches you that believing in "le depression man who thinks nothing matters" wont get you anywhere, whereas Rick and Morty likes to go on circles with that trope to pull off tearjerks from the audience.
It's a pretty creative movie, even if you don't end up liking i think you can still enjoy some things from it
>it got near universal praise
So did the hunger games, but i had already seen battle royale because im a nerdy homosexual. Cope Black person
You're like one of those redditors who posts in reddit criticizing the "average redditor" and get 124000k upvotes and don't see the irony on it.
What makes this movie Reddit? How do you do a multi-verse movie without making it surreal, do you feel like your worldview was challenged by this movie?
>multiverse movie idea
>every multiverse i travel to has a gay version of me
>spend the entire film going thru the multiverse picking up gay versions of me and kissing them
Sounds kino, I’m assuming it’s like an Eddie Murphy movie where you play every part
nutting professor 3: cooming my pants
The family drama aspect didn’t land perfectly for me, but goddamn if it isn’t the most fun and creative martial arts movie I’ve seen since kung fu hustle.
acting is bad but movie is decent, solid 6/10
if you go in expecting kino you will be disappointed but it's not like you'll waste your time
that cage movie that came out around the same time is much, much better
>asking tv to tell you what to think about a great film
>just farming culture war homosexualry, not even giving a shit about films themselves
>film isn't even in theaters anymore, so this mutt white millenial homosexual will watch it at 2x speed while jerking off to tiktok in his phone
have a nice day
It has dildos and butt plugs
It's just about her not wanting to be like her father and just fully accept her gay daughter. Don't fricking bother, watch the one, Dr strange or Rick and Morty instead.
I loved it
It's really not that good. idk what zoomers are seeing, it feels like this shit movie is being gaslit to hell. It's just 2 hrs of them doing random shit to get powers and fight each other. The humor is really miss unless you think random slapstick shit is funny. It's something that a toddler would find funny. I was personally bored the entire time. The lesson was really shallow too - basically acceptance your dyke daughter's dyke lifestyle. Pretty typical and derivative for modern movies.
You’re so triggered by the fact there was a lesbian in the movie that you are missing the actual lesson. The wife viewed the husband as weak when really she was too cowardly to be grateful for her simple life, it’s not naive to see the good things in a shitty situation
>he said dyke that means he was triggered
Black person where do you think you are?
The gay part of the movie could have easily been swapped with an interracial relationship and nothing would have changed it was a very minimal part of the movie definitely not the lesson
You managed to miss the point of my 90 character long post and you're trying to explain to me a movie?
It's not really asian movie, it's asian american movie, there is big difference.
It's american you twit. And watch more asian movies
>Asian movies
that's not an asian movie you fricking moron
the grandpa and Data are the only thing redeemable about it
it's not good.
Last chink flick I’ll ever watch
Completely soulless insectoids
Unironically great movie, don't listen to Cinemaphile on this one. Was pleasantly surprised
I was really hyped for this movie, but it kind of fell flat. I was expecting cool fight scenes mixed with sci-fi shit, but half the good fight scenes are In the trailer so its less of a surprise. The other fight scenes are fine, decently funny. The relationship between the mom and daughter is hardly compelling, but its the main focus.
My biggest issue is the writers dont know when the joke is over. Like the hotdog fingers, I thought it was kind of a funny one off joke, but they kept spending a LOT of time in the hotdog finger universe. They think that hotdog finger shit is so fricking funny, but its fine. A lot of the jokes should of only been references once or twice.
The only two parts of the movie that actually elicited a response from me was when the husband was explaining how he fights and how the wife fell in love with him again across universes.
Its worth watching once on a streaming service, but wasn't worth going to the movies for.
Very reasonable critique, I went in with zero expectations and knew little about the movie
The hotdog finger world got REALLY fricking old, but the payoff was immense. Introducing it as Evelyn failing utterly as a shitty joke universe, driving the joke into the ground over the course of the movie, then revealing that hotdogfinger people are incredibly skilled with their feet was so fricking stupid but on point that it retroactively redeemed every minute of the hotdogverse for me.
They took the joke to far when they had the fingers squirting out ketchup or some shit, yuck. The payoff wasn't worth it to sit through those scenes.
I also didn't realize how large a role yogurt woman had in the movie. Her character was gross to look at and hard to listen to.
Yeah, I think I got too hyped for this movie. Best to watch it blind.
Also, I think this is the type of movie that is best if you go in blind. All I knew was that
>women fight
>it has a strong beginning, a middle that's dragged out, and a showstopping final act
>it ends with a parent apologizing to their child for their parenting mistakes
and I was constantly surprised by what the movie was doing. It blew me away.
It's the Matrix mixed with Uncut Gems mixed with FLCL
>Is it worth watching?
No.
I sat through it because of my gf.
