The men aren't cowards and weaklings so that Mulan can shine in comparison; the villain isn't a pushover, but a genuine threat and a challenge for Mulan (and the others) to overcome.
In woke media, badly written, unlikeable and visibly unathletic girlbosses are artificially propped up by making the men around them even more pathetic. The women's power is borrowed, not earned.
