their departure made no difference, and the critic is now forgotton

Overrated. The Critic had great premise but resorted to gags and simplistic jokes. The characters became 1 dimensional within 2 seasons faster than any cartoon show.

Its a great show but it failed because it was too smart.

      >too smart.

Then why did they resort to gags?

        Gags can be smart.

          They weren't in The Critic.

I have no problem with gags and parodies in The Critic. They worked well during the Coming Attraction because they mocked the movie industry and movies in general. When the gags became part of the whole show it went downhill fast.

It was good enough that Seth MacFarlane ripped off the cut-away gag format for Family Guy

Why did Jay show up in pinky and the brain?

Is he in any other crossovers besides the simpsons one?

ehhhh. doesn't focus enough on the critic aspect. honestly feels like it's just as much about jay being a fatass. I do like it when it actually parodies movies and the industry.

Described by the creators as ~~*a love letter to New York*~~ and it really shows. You can find all episodes on YT.
They REALLY hated Ross Perot for some reason.
The show itself was mostly boring and uninspired.

arnold Schwarzenegger also gets made fun of often in the show but I guess that's more understandable
