I was watching DUNC with my mom who's approaching 80 and doesn't like SF but she was quite interested in the movie (I rarely watch SF with her - obviously not her favourite - she has no problem telling me if she wasn't invested in a film)
I showed this guy who I thought was a film buff some old Clintkino and he was fricking yawning. I never talked to him after that and actively avoided his company.
Maybe he was tired? I was watching one of the greatest westerns I've ever seen but I was running on like 3 hours of sleep. I realized I wasn't fully enjoying it in my current state and decided to go to sleep and come back to it the next day. And I enjoyed it even more.
Whats worse is when they go to the restroom and you pause it and they tell you its okay
I take the opportunity to go to the bathroom myself. Usually I have to but didn't want to be the one to interrupt the movie.

Yes - young people should have friends, because I had friends when I was young. I don't have friends anymore, nor do I really want them. Friends are just something that happen because you're forced to be around people and you like some of them.
Yeah but I keep the movie playing despite the signals to switch it or do something else entirely. It's my household so frick off if you don't want to watch it, it's staying on.
Staying with my boomer inlaws for xmas, it drives me nuts their relationship with TV. They spend atleast 4 hours EVERY DAY "watching" TV, but they are constantly either asleep half the time or having a conversation and not paying attention at all. Like, why even bother at that point, just turn the damn thing off.

friends of mine who're a long term couple brought them to me cuz they were worried that I haven't had a gf in a long time.
I had a friend who took me to see the VVitch when it was in theaters. I remember noticing that he kept looking at me constantly, seconds before an impactful moment happened, wanting to see my reaction to it. As if he had watched the movie already and wanted to watch it again with me to see how I would respond to certain moments. I caught wind of him doing that halfway through and exaggerated my reactions to make him feel better then pretended to like the movie afterwards.
Feels like that would ruin the movie, there's a lot of stuff that happens out of nowhere like the baby vanishing or the goat killing everybody, so I imagine you'd feel his eyes on you and know something is about to happen.
Family turned off Whiplash because of the swearing. I was fuming
