It wasn't until like an hour after watching Madagascar 3 that it dawned on me that the real reason Alex wants to leave Africa because his parents have passed away and he no longer feels any connection to the savannah. That's actually really sad.
(Also RIP Bernie Mac/)
The deeper themes at play in Madagascar 3 often go overlooked until the afterthought and consideration. Welcome to the club, anon
Madagascar didn't need to be a franchise. It should have stopped after the first film.
Madagascar 3 was OK by me.
1>3>ending climax of 1>liar revealed plot of 3>>>>>>>>>>>>>2
just like kung fu Panda
the 2nd one was a amazing, but a little melodramatic. 3rd Kung Fu Panda was just pointless.
i thought Panda 2 was bad. The jokes aren't funny, the drama is cliched, the dialogue is awkward, Po is more annoying than endearing, and the pacing is rushed. Awful cliffhanger ending too
I believe 2 to be worth it purely because it introduced me to Copacabana and Barry Manilow
Nah. 2 and 3 were really good. So are the penguins and king julien spin offs.
>the penguins
What about the huge flop Penguins movie?
What about it?
They had to use a throwaway recording of Bernie Mac at the end of the movie because they couldn't record the actual lines in the script. Because the dude died.
Gloria needed to be fatter.
You needed to have a nice day, but here you are.
>You needed to have a nice day
After (You)
That is so rude, bro. Not cool.
>Gloria and Ogre Fiona will never sit on you
;___;
Honestly the return to NY really hits different if you grew up watching the series
I like the Madagascar series despite it's admitted flaws
IDK I was like... 11 when the first one came out. I wasn't too impressed. I only watched the others because I was a cartoon junkie and they got better and better.
but I don't really have a sentimental attachment to them.
11 is too old to get sentimentally attached to this kind of movie.
Alex should've been gay, it's so obvious the cheetah chick was just a beard.
anon, you wanting to frick the lion doesn't make him gay.
bruh, alex is the gayest motherfricker alive personality wise
>The jokes aren't funny, the drama is cliched, the dialogue is awkward, Po is more annoying than endearing, and the pacing is rushed.
What changed from the first to the second movie? I mean I don't see how the 2nd one is less funny.
the comedy in 2 is MUCH worse than in 1
i think Panda 2 is one of the lowest points in Dreamworks' history. If an 81 mins film feels much longer, there's something wrong with it
>Panda 1 : 83 mins without credits
>Panda 2 : 81 mins without credits
definition of a rushed sequel
>Seethes over 2 minute difference
KFP2 haters are gays
that's the least of its problems. It's a mess of a film. Jennifer Yuh Nelson never directed a film before, and it shows in everything regarding story, tone, comedy and pacing
>shows in everything
Considering the only person that hates it is a crying, nitpicking little b***h, I'd say she did a damn fine job.
Like Domee before Domee, albeit on a much smaller scale.
i think she made one of Dreamworks' worst. They should've chosen someone experienced
>i think she made one of Dreamworks' worst
We know she made one of Dreamworks's best films, damn good for a newbie.
literally one of my least favorite CG films ever. 81 mins of unfunny jokes, thin storytelling, repetitive action and stale drama. Also, that peawiener was neither sympathetic or charismatic
>Causes a annoying gay to ape out and make shit up about it
Man, I love this film more and more. A modern Classic.
>or charismatic
wrong
he was a prick
>They should've chosen someone experienced
she was head of story for the first movie
so what? Heading a group of storyboarders isn't the same as being the sole director of a movie
Yeah, it's a bigger role, one she did exceedingly well at.
we watched different movies. This pointless conversation is over
>This pointless conversation is over
Pussy ass little b***h.
NO BALLS
>Shrek
>directors : Andrew Adamson, Vicky Jenson
>producer : Aron Warner
>Shark Tale
>directors : Bibo Bergeron, Vicky Jenson, Rob Letterman
>producer : Bill Damaschke
>Madagascar
>directors : Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath
>producer : Mireille Soria
such good movies. Perfect mix of edge and charm
Will you watch Skydance's Spellbound based on the fact that Jensen's directing it?
you bet. She is great
Jenson deserves credit for Shrek and Shark Tale, but so do Adamson and Bergeron. They were just as important
Sharktalegay is here...
i know the storyboarders of Madagascar 1 didn't return for 2 and 3, hence the different writing style. Storyboarders are the real writers of these films and most Dreamworks films
>1998 : Antz, The Prince of Egypt
>2000 : The Road to El Dorado
>2001 : Shrek
>2002 : Spirit
>2003 : Shrek 4-D, Sinbad
>2004 : Shrek 2, Shark Tale
>2005 : Madagascar, The Madagascar Penguins in a Christmas Caper
>2006 : First Flight, Over the Hedge, Flushed Away, Hammy's Boomerang Adventure
>2007 : Shrek the Third, Bee Movie, Shrek the Halls
>2008 : Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar Escape 2 Africa
>2009 : Monsters vs Aliens, MvA Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space, BOB's Big Break, Merry Madagascar
>2010 : How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek Forever After, Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon, Scared Shrekless, Megamind, Kung Fu Panda Holiday
Dreamworks went insane after becoming a publicly traded studio in late 2004 and partnering with Paramount in 2005
Chicken Run and W&G film don't count because they were made by Aardman at UK. Dreamworks only distributed them
and as for that 2000 Joseph direct to video film, it was totally outsourced to a bunch of cheap studios rather than being made by Dreamworks in-house like the other 2D films
Bernie Mac was taken from us far too soon.
It was just a throwaway role for him back in 2007 for the Transformers movie but the Bumblebee teaser gave it so much meaning.
damn
