Only saw the first episode so far, production quality and casting looks pretty mediocre or bad. Looks like almost every scene was directed by second unit directors, just kind of amateurish. Goggins is good, but he is always kino. Muadib is okay so far but looking forward to seeing him more. The rest of the cast are iffy, so far at least. it's enjoyable if you ignore how badly it shits on everything from the Interplay/Black Isle era. I might have even liked the show if they just stuck with the East coast or picked a brand new location altogether.

It’s a good show, you just have to accept that Fallout has been fricked lore wise since 3, and there’s no point getting mad at a film or show adaptation over lore inconsistency. Same for the Halo show. Look at it in a vacuum separate from the rest of the media and see if it stands on its own. The Fallout show certainly manages to stand on its own.

Specifically Emil whatever his name is, who wrote the slip for 3. Only complaint I have is that they had too many pre-war characters surviving into the far flung future. The flame lady raider chick could have been born in the wasteland and nothing from the story would have been lost. Trying to tie everyone to “the big event” (the bombs dropping in this case) seemed a little lazy. But other than that I had zero complaints. The writing is fine.

no i haven't played any total conversions yet, but thanks to the show it's revived my interest in replaying the games from nv and prior, so i will be looking into that sort of thing. i did use some of the standalone mods they made from project brazil though, shit was cash.
You can play through project Brazil and (depending on the ending you get) continue playing into New Vegas proper, with a chance to meet characters from the mod and catch up with them, see what they’ve been up to over the years since PB. It’s fricking great, definitely worth keeping on your radar

maximus is definitely in his early to mid twenties and has a few years on lucy, who is probably closer to 19 or 21 at best. he's at least 7 or 8 in the flashback which would put lucy at closer to 4 when she was in shady sands. new vegas is in 2281 and the show is 2296, which means the nuking of shady sands realistically happened in 2282 at the earliest. new vegas is fully canon and season 2 will explore either the yes man or house endings, though my guess is they'll go for house since they had him in the flashback scene.

If you do the math then the show having a 2296 and assume that the nuke dropped in 2277 then that is a 19 year gap. The minimum required to not infringe on the NV time line is the bomb dropping in 2282 which is 14 years. If Maximum and Lucy were 6 years old at the time the bomb dropped then either range is acceptable. Upping Maximus's age and adding a lag between Lucy being returned to the vault and the nuke going off can easily account for any issues. Supposing they are careful.
If the "Fall of Shady Sands" is actually linked to the First Battle of Hoover Dam which occured in 2277 then the bomb drops in 2282-3 then that keeps the timeline intact without having to require a Mea Culpa.
Everything right now requires that they mess things up in season 2. The fall of the NCR and the renuking of the wasteland was always a potential plotline from the actually good fallout writers. Look up B.O.M.B. and the potential ending of Van Buren.

Only saw the first episode so far, production quality and casting looks pretty mediocre or bad. Looks like almost every scene was directed by second unit directors, just kind of amateurish. Goggins is good, but he is always kino. Muadib is okay so far but looking forward to seeing him more. The rest of the cast are iffy, so far at least. The direction is so anemic that could be the problem.

It’s a good show, you just have to accept that Fallout has been fricked lore wise since 3, and there’s no point getting mad at a film or show adaptation over lore inconsistency. Same for the Halo show. Look at it in a vacuum separate from the rest of the media and see if it stands on its own. The Fallout show certainly manages to stand on its own.

I liked the show… but it isn’t faithful at all… though that’s entirely Bethesda’s fault for shitting up the lore so much since they took over. Specifically Emil whatever his name is, who wrote the slip for 3. The show is kinda faithful to the aesthetics, at least to those from Fallout 4, but beyond that it’s not even consistent with Bethesda’s own games, let alone the Interplay and Obsidian ones

Only complaint I have is that they had too many pre-war characters surviving into the far flung future. The flame lady raider chick could have been born in the wasteland and nothing from the story would have been lost. Trying to tie everyone to “the big event” (the bombs dropping in this case) seemed a little lazy. But other than that I had zero complaints. The writing is fine.

If you do the math then the show having a 2296 and assume that the nuke dropped in 2277 then that is a 19 year gap. The minimum required to not infringe on the NV time line is the bomb dropping in 2282 which is 14 years. If Maximum and Lucy were 6 years old at the time the bomb dropped then either range is acceptable. Upping Maximus's age and adding a lag between Lucy being returned to the vault and the nuke going off can easily account for any issues. Supposing they are careful.
If the "Fall of Shady Sands" is actually linked to the First Battle of Hoover Dam which occured in 2277 then the bomb drops in 2282-3 then that keeps the timeline intact without having to require a Mea Culpa.
