IT'S GOOD BECAUSE THE MOBSTER HAS PROBLEMS LIKE MINE
IT'S GOOD BECAUSE SCARY MOBSTERS HAVE ABSURD, EVEN CHILDISH NICKNAMES
it's good because Nancy Marchand broke with a lifetime of playing morally pure, high society matrons
It's not good. Boomers like the show because they have shit taste and love dumb power fantasy shows, and their children like it because they look up to their boomer parents and are afraid to have different opinions. Similarly the goodfather films, scorcese slop, apocalypse now... awful films that boomers love but have no style, no substance, are only good for curing insomnia.
Now ask the average sopranos fan a question: what's your favourite episode? "uh i guess it's the one where they are lost in the woods..." Why? "idk man it's funny..." What season was that? Why were they in the woods anyway? "I don't remember..." You dont remember? Tell me what happened in each season, describe the themes of the show, artistic choices, the narrative? "uh man idk it a mafia show tony is funny" Right...
The show has no memorable episodes, nothing to write home about. It's shit. Now ask a Breaking Bad fan about his favourite episode and the themes of the show and they'll give a well thought answer. Why? Because Breaking Bad is the superior show and the viewers actually like it.

Here's some standard operating procedure.
Stay the frick out of Sopranos threads. Shut the frick up, and listen. It's over. Capice? Over and done. You post, or lurk anywhere near these threads, and they'll be scraping your nipples off this fine blue board. And here's the point to remember, My post is the last one you'll see, not Tony's.
but it's Second Opinion and I like it because some racket for the israelites man shows Carmela is a hypocrite and the only thing that helps her get over it is a large cash amount for something or other.
I thought this was supposed to be a dark, fricked up show as a kid. I never watched it until I was in my late 20's and was legitimately laughing at it. Weird how the things you hear in the other room painted a different picture in your imagination then what it actually was.
The way critics talked about it I thought it was a prolonged indepth super serious TV series resembling the godfather. It's actually a hilarious comedy with some drama sometimes
The fact it's primarily comedy makes you care about the characters even though they're buttholes. It also serves to make the serious drama elements more effective when it does cone up.
I've never watched it cos I get the impression it's one of those shows that uses that shit head concept of, "the main character is a total bad ass, he'll kill anyone" yet he kills no one and whenever he's about to, some weird thing comes up that prevents it. Like peaky blinders. The guys meant to be a gangster but everytime he has to ice someone and be a real man he ends up talking his way out of it and "outwitting" his enemy. Gay.
Tony Soprano kills several people with his own bare hands including his highest earning cappo and his beloved nephew.
He also murders rats like Matthew Belevaqua and the butthole rat in main, and curb stomps Coco's teeth out for insulting his daughter. He also calls out gays and queers as the degenerates that they are. Breaking Bad is reddit tier baby shit compared to the Sopanoes.
the first season is incredible, cogent, and fresh. everything after that is at best standard soap opera water cooler talk fodder and at worst DUDE GABAGOOL LMAO. i recommend anyone watching this show stop after season 1, you won't miss anything and the s1 finale serves as a more concise ending than the series finale anyway
Humor is both the lowest and highest form of communication.
Of course midwits go for "drama".

I remember being an edgy high school contrarian.

Because of AJ I started saying "that's so deck", ironically and then last night I said it unironically when playing video games

Nice counter arguments. You just realized that you don't actually like the show?
Did you literally just say Breaking Bad is the superior show? Opinion discarded. Which by the way isn’t the same experience as a rewatch.

It's a show about people in denial about going to hell, Jesus
Its about a wiseguy with a big heart, and bigger dreams. Ben Kingsley passed.
Alright, but you gotta get over it

I don't think it's meant to be funny.

You couldn't be more wrong, homosexual.
