Hopefully, this is the last convulsion of the celebrity being a voiceactor to get put on the billing of all the trailers. Because they include characters like this that ultimately have little to no personality or plot connection, banking on the guest stars voice-overs being about as good as a wet towel.
Sometimes it works out, and you get a Lucy Liu. But Cross, Rogen, and Jackie are just... Cross and Rogen just are terrible line readers, and there's a reason Jackie didn't voice himself in his own cartoon.
The problem is that it's like a Power Rangers movie that's only about the Red Ranger.
Like Lord of the Rings, but only about Frodo.
Like Sonic Adventure but with only one playable character.
Like The Lego Movie, but it doesn't give depth to the supporting cast.
