What's wrong with gumbo?
Gumbo is a soupy mixture poured over white rice whereas with jambalaya has the rice all seasoned in it directly. Jambalaya is better than Gumbo tbqh
I prefer gumbo because it doesn't have tomatoes and I can just have it as a soup
yeah it does have a deeper flavor in the rice but gumbo you can freeze in batches since its a sauce/stew and when you thaw it out and have with fresh rice its like its straight off the stove
with jambalaya you cant freeze it because rice gets weird when you freeze it

I make Jambalaya without the shrimp as I make a huge pot and it throws off the leftovers. Recipe is as follows. Family sized box of Zatarans Jambalaya rice browned in butter, then boiled in a mix of chicken broth and spicy V8 instead of water. I add garlic smoked sausage cut into rounds and the meat of a whole chicken to that. I also add two medium yellow onions, two handfulls of quartered mushrooms, equal amount of halfed cherry tomatoes and sweet corn to it. Boil for hours, and add more spicy V8 as I like a bit of broth to dip cornbread in. This is better than the slop you shovel in your stupid mouth.
