The Coens intentionally cut out various lines considered the funniest in the entire movie. Criterion released it as “director-approved” but failed to mention they removed iconic lines instead of adding

I'm always leery of Criterion's 'director-approved' claim; 'director-approved' doesn't at all imply the same thing as 'the director(s) elected to make these changes, and we had no influence on their decisions'
