>American Rubber Soul
Oh yeah I really fricking want the version without Drive My Car on it. Plus it's an American pressing so they're sure to have fricked with the mixing to make it sound like shit. An original UK mono copy would be fricking cool but that US copy's worthless
Yeah it caused a whole backlash in the US (not helped by the fact that its the album that came out right after John said the Beatles were bigger than Jesus lmao) and they ended up sticking another cover on it. Literally. As in they plastered a different cover on top of the original cover since they'd already printed so many copies and couldn't be bothered actually doing a recall
I would pick some of the US releases I never imported because its expensive these days. I would mention the shitty color grading in private because it would be rude to shit on them in the video and they wouldnt publish it anyway.
i would start stuffing all the movies into a trash bag, then when the shelf was empty, pull out a copy of Transformers the movie and pop it on to the shelf. It wouldnt even have the correct disc inside
any reasonable, normal person just wants the un-fricked-with, highest-quality transfers
if I want the colors fricked with I can do that myself
who could possibly prefer the yellow-green piss-filter version of In the Mood for Love?
oh yes
Memories of Murder and Thief are notorious ones, but there are dozens
there are also ones that aren't fricked with in color terms but have inexplicable cuts; Miller's Crossing has something like ~2m47s cut out of it
The Coens intentionally cut out various lines considered the funniest in the entire movie. Criterion released it as “director-approved” but failed to mention they removed iconic lines instead of adding
I still haven't seen any proof that the Coens actually had a hand in making the cuts
I'm always leery of Criterion's 'director-approved' claim; 'director-approved' doesn't at all imply the same thing as 'the director(s) elected to make these changes, and we had no influence on their decisions'
Yeah you just need to research it on a case by case basis
This is pretty frequent with any publisher doing a remaster though, not just criterion. Criterion probably is the worst offender

I wouldn't actually show any films, I'd just have a sign on the door saying 'kino zone' and then spend an hour saying 'kino' over and over and interjecting Cinemaphile memes
I'd just say the colour grading sucks on all if them and set fire to the closet
No you wouldn't, pussy.
just select B&W films only and say that you don't agree with how they've vandalized recent color releases
I could only afford one, the life aquatic.
Royal Tennenbaums is usually even cheaper.
Wait, that's a photo of me.
And a better film.

At least we got Yesterday & Today, I like the false starts of the Rubber Soul tracks on that one
I prefer to have a version of Revolver with ALL the tracks on it but you do you
>Yesterday & Today
Genuinely what the frick were they thinking with that cover?
wtf

this guy has one of the most punchable faces in hollywood
a israelite
>Ayo, I loves me this Yiyi ass movie.
Why'd he say it like that though?
>Ayo can a loc come in yo criterion closet?

I would turn down the invitation and request instead that I visit the Arrow Attic, the Blue Underground Boudoir or the Vinegar Syndrome Vivarium
Severin Cellar is what you're actually looking for
Classic
How many movies am I allowed to pick in this hypothetical scenario?
Classic Dano
literally me
I would only talk about Mishima and then I'd call them homosexuals for putting out Wall E
angry fatty
Ive only ever met one person who owned criterion releases and he was accused of rape and fled the country. Physical media homies are a weird bunch.
Set fire to the entire closet and yell at the camera IF YOU WANT SOME ACTUAL GOOD FRICKING RELEASES AND TRANSFERS GO BUY ARROW DISCS
Ahem
Alright chud, name 20 good movies published by Arrow.
>Dune (1984)
i would start stuffing all the movies into a trash bag, then when the shelf was empty, pull out a copy of Transformers the movie and pop it on to the shelf. It wouldnt even have the correct disc inside
Why does everyone ITT hate Criterion so much?
It's for midwits and psueds. People who know what good films are doesn't need some company to tell them.
They have released some good films before though
>not watching for the commentaries
filtered
ive liked the 3~4 movies ive seen that are part of the CC. but its easier to find these stupid closet videos than the actual movies, so frick them
Because they often frick up the colours in their 'remasters'
are there other titles affected by this?
oh yes
Memories of Murder and Thief are notorious ones, but there are dozens

WKW's to blame for that, every transfer of his movies from the late 00s onward has had the color timing redone.
I don't hate Criterion but the overpriced, "you have to buy it during the flash sales" model creates a sense of artificial hype.

Classic Paul Dano.
>i can't wait to.. go home..
Yi Yi is one of the greatest movies of all time, based Dano.
none of my favorite movies are in the criterion collection
I wouldn't actually show any films, I'd just have a sign on the door saying 'kino zone' and then spend an hour saying 'kino' over and over and interjecting Cinemaphile memes
>Godzilla 2000
>RoboCop
>Tropic Thunder
>Patlabor 2
>For a Few Dollars More
>Silver Linings Playbook
Just off the top of my head
No thanks.
For me, it's Kino Lorber.
LOL
These morons wastes of spunk never get it. Almost everything is compromised by wokeness.
As far as I know Eureka! was the only major blu ray label that didnt bend the knee to BLM shit when American cities ware burning.
Hi, glavset!
Have any of them picked Thin Red Line? That's the only reason I check new ones and read the comments for a list of their picks.
For me? Robocop. Short Circuit 2. Independence Day. That's all.
99% of the threads here are trash, but every now and then there's a classic...
