I've been going through all the awards darlings of last year. I absolutely loved EEAAO, Banshees, Triangle of Sadness, but this was a masterpiece. I have never identified with a character on screen more than I have with Callum. An absolute tragic masterpiece.
I cried really hard
No reason for the daughter to grow up to be a dyke though
Agreed re: Aftersun. I honestly have never been so affected by a movie as I was during the last five minutes of that. It's weird bc it really sneaks up on you.
I had a feeling he was going to kill himself, but the way they tell you without telling you it's masterful. When the camera pans around and he walks through that door the tears were instant. The spicy was absolutely beautiful as well

Sorry for phoneposting
Shit better let my girlfriend (girl) know I'm gay for crying at a movie about male depression and suicide
>girlfriend
take your meds schizo
keep crying, homo
00s nostalgia bait genre film, oddly anachronistic. well done i guess
My local was playing a bunch of Oscar films last week and I went to see Tar, Aftersun, EEAAO and Elvis, and Aftersun has really stuck with me since then. The whole time I had a niggling sense of dread but it wasn't until Under Pressure started playing that I realised why and started tearing up, a couple of other people in the theater did too. It's an incredible movie, especially considering it's an indie film. I knew Paul Mescal wasn't going to win Best Actor and I hope he's happy just to be nominated, his performance was incredible. Honestly Frankie Corio deserved a supporting actress nomination too.
emotionless zoomer garbage
You certainly are
>emotionless
you're confusing the emotional quality of the movie with your own autism
I cried too and I'm a jaded arthouse gay, it's a good film especially for a debut
was this meant to be an example of it being good?
bro his knees where liderally shaking please understand
atleast watch the film before you shout your capeshit stuff if you want to vent
>everybody who doesn't like my mediocre drama film is...le capeshit lover
i finally understand the intelligence of the Aftersun audience
so what's a film that's like Aftersun but better?
beg for it
Not only a pussy afraid of offering any real opinion lest he be judged, but openly posting his frequently used troonyboxd account
Post a torrent link to watch it for free then
20 minutes i thought it was going to be one of those slow movies where nothing happens that people find it to be a perfect movie. But i continue watching it distracted, when it ended i started tearing up. That's rough, on par with You Were Never Really Here, which plays similar themes in somewhat similar manner.
>You Were Never Really Here
Very cool movie, I saw a trailer for it on a blu ray for (I think) The Commuter and figured it would be a similar action thriller so I bought it and gave it a go, boy was I wrong about that.
What was the point of the gay kissing scene though?
look at this thread
it was obviously to appeal to phone posting redditor that have an emotional breakdown at the slighest hint of artificial romanced sadness
What was the point of the gay agenda in the Asian Rick & Morty oscarbait?

>No reason for the daughter to grow up to be a dyke though
What was even the point of that? Does it change anything at all story wise?
Isn’t the writer a dyke?

So why did he hate himself? was he a diddler?
the movie only implies it
>was he a diddler?
No
>So why did he hate himself?
We don't know and Sophie didn't either, she was watching the tapes trying to work out why he did it
He couldn't get a handle on anything because he had untreated attention deficit disorder
