He is definitely a pedophile, but everyone famous is
To me it always looked like this is a borderline mean-spirited impersonation of the guy's science teacher from high school. But the show is mostly good, except for the terrible episode about the Who song.
You should unironically seek help if this is your takeaway from the show. Second guessing everything is a sign of schizophrenia.

But you don't get it he wasn't portraying white men as super alpha gods. He should have been fricking babes in bikinis and lifting weights and owning the liberals and praising trump dude! Anything less is anti white genocide!

There certainly isn't anything genuine about it. It's all a "post-ironic", sarcastic parody. It's fakeness masquerading as sincerity. Horrible shit for midwit gays.

>Second guessing everything is a sign of schizophrenia.
You should unironically go the frick back to plebbit if you are naive enough to think Joe Pera is a genuine guy.
I’d tattoo nazi and KKK shit all over him and leave him stranded naked in Detroit
>You should unironically go the frick back to plebbit if you are naive enough to think Joe Pera is a genuine guy.
Can you believe simple small town chuds finally got a show for them and they just complain about it?
>Can you believe simple small town chuds finally got a show for them and they just complain about it?
It's a sarcastic, ironic act. If you aren't smart enough to understand that, I can't help you.
It's not sarcastic at all. Your brain is literally too melted from layers of irony and years of post-ironic detachment to even recognize a straightforward, wholesome exercise.
Well, I just disagree with that. Pera does post-ironic "comedy". It's fake. The whole thing is fetishistic and gross. I'll double down and even call it satanic. It's no surprise that he is friends with the Townsends homosexual. The "orange fool is just a drink and not a political statement" guy. Another pseudo-le wholesome pos.
>It's fake.
It's fake in the sense that he's playing a character, obviously, but genuine in the sense that he's not making fun of people who act like that. It's Mr. Rogers for millennial adults who are tired of irony. >I'll double down and even call it satanic.
Okay, I appreciate you telegraphing that you're mentally ill and there's probably nothing left to be gained by typing at you.
Mr. Rogers wasn't ironic. Pera is. The entire concept is. You're more on a level with Reddit. I can understand if you're having difficulty coping with how you like some demented, fetishistic gay show.
>. It's no surprise that he is friends with the Townsends homosexual. The "orange fool is just a drink and not a political statement" guy.
Except it was just a drink and you're overreacting. You Trump Black folk are an absolute pox on the right wing btw, frick you and your McDonalds nationalism
I'd prefer if you took a rifle and shot about 90% of Congress yourself , and the fact that Trump included John Bolton into his cabinet is proof enough he is never going to be a vehicle for change in the US right wing

Well, I find your message and digits quite something.
Yea, but you aren't white so you can't appreciate subtle culture. You "live" in Ohio, but you are not from or assimilated to Ohio. You brought the 3rd world with you to Ohio. You see? That is why we hate you =]
I've discussed this on here before and I think I've come to the conclusion that he was probably mostly sincere but that he carries a hint of irony with him, which is something inherent in his generation. If his intent was to create some sort of cynical, satirically ironic portrait of simple Midwestern life then I think he failed because I myself and others have derived a sense of coziness and sincerity from the show.
I don't agree with that statement at all; however, I didn't say he attempted to be sincere. I said that I think he was sincere but that he cannot escape the ironical tone inherent in his generation.
You want sincere Midwestern comfy nerd guy sharing his interest: do that. Don't have some comedian from New York give his modern day Larry the Cable Guy act. We're POC that deserve fair representation on the screen.
The fact that he's playing a character is irrelevant as long as the intent of the show is not to make fun of the character or the type of person that he represents. The depiction is done with love, not mockery, that's really all that matters.

I sincerely do not see a problem with it. I think it's preferable to the sort of "ironic" vitriol that gets thrown around here on a daily basis.
I disagree. If someone makes an attempt to appear sincere it often comes from a place of sincerity anyway. The key element is intent. Consciousness of your own presentation does not preclude sincere feelings.
You don't get it. If you have to try to be sincere, you aren't.

I don't agree. I think we've become accustomed to irony. I think it's even become habit. I think it's gotten to the point that we've begun to mask our sincere feelings with irony as a defensive mechanism. We wish to avoid insults and taunts from others so we hide our sincere beliefs behind a veil of irony. It can be hard to break this habit. I often have a knee jerk reaction to express myself with irony though my feelings are sincere. I'm giving Joe the benefit of the doubt that he is the same way.

The show takes a stereotype of what sincerity is and makes a parody out of it. It's dishonesty on display as honesty.

Could be. That's what this whole argument has been about and it's probably impossible to know for sure. I think the show is pretty cozy but I find it most appealing when the characters aren't the focus.

Okay bro sure, I'm certain Cinemaphile are experts on sincerity, please go back to posting about troony sneed bane tiktok dancing bimbo frick china biden.
i always thought it was a character being played but in an endearing and non-mean spirited way. if that's not the case I'd definitely like it less, the frick would be the point of making a whole show to dunk on some harmless high school teacher personality?
I think he's a frickin nonce mate
these
you mean a guy playing a character is different from the character? are you sure about that

That's not a very wholesome thing to say, my guy. No updoots for you!
It's just a truthful thing to say.
He definitely rapes young boys
Pera is wholesome. He's made me laugh many times but also put me to sleep/relaxed me as well.

It is insincere to "attempt" sincerity.
I don't agree with that statement at all; however, I didn't say he attempted to be sincere. I said that I think he was sincere but that he cannot escape the ironical tone inherent in his generation.
The show itself is a purposeful attempt at sincerity. And if you are attempting to appear sincere, you aren't being sincere.
You want sincere Midwestern comfy nerd guy sharing his interest: do that. Don't have some comedian from New York give his modern day Larry the Cable Guy act. We're POC that deserve fair representation on the screen.
