Just got out of pic related.
Glad this movie didn't go under my radar. What a spectacular fall from grace and commentary on self-image.
Didn't expect one of my favourite video game series of all time to be the punchline of the entire file, either.

>Have you ever played or conducted Bach?
>Honestly, as a BIPOC pangender person, I would say Bach's misogynistic life makes it kind of impossible for me to take his music seriously.
Who was in the wrong here, Cinemaphile?
Honestly, they're both sides of the same coin. One clutching to tradition for the sake of tradition, and the other rejecting it for the sake of rejection. Arguably, both parties' opinions do not consider the talent or works of the composer in question, but rather just follow what others told them to do.
Oh frick you. Wait, is this a copypasta?
Why frick me, though? It's just a thought I had anon, sorry if I offended you
>Honestly, they're both sides of the same coin. One clutching to tradition for the sake of tradition
have a nice day, pseudhomosexual millennial
You tell me she really gave a shit about Bach lol
Kid ain't in the right either, however.
I'm telling you you're a millennial that was born to stack shelves in a warehouse
Yeah, anon, you're not too off the mark. You call it when you see it
The movie is not telling you that she is wrong for challenging some idiot's perspective on why listening to white artists from the past is bad. In hindsight you realize that she's bad because she's also making an argument for why you shouldn't give a shit about the artist's actions because their work transcends the person. She doesn't reach the status of the greats so her legacy is just that of a stinky dyke version of Harvey Weinstein who does vidya OST's.
I really pity people who have to view everyone and everything as either being great or terrible
Except the student is a moron who is literally only dismissing them because they're white. He has no problem respecting the tradition of black artists, and she points out that they weren't saints either.
>think anon is having a laugh
>look up subtitles
>it's real
Come on, man. No way...
Yeah. It's real. For those who saw it, is it played as comedy?
The whole film plays against that mentality, it's not exactly comedy but just a ridiculous moment the protagonist is confronted with
The student. He was just a shitter trying to weasel his way out of getting exposed.
Who the frick speaks like this irl?
Educated people living in the Western first world. Something you'll never encounter so don't worry about it.
Do you really need to ask, homosexual?
Obviously the idiot jogger. It astounds me how people are so skeptical of this scene and that she was meant to look bad when her argument is never refuted.
>student expresses an opinion
>OH WOW DID YOU GET THAT FROM LE SOCIAL MEDIA?? XD
She deserved to be cancelled. No fricking clue as to how students should be approached.
He was quoting current year twitter politics and has no voice of his own. She called him a robot because he is one.
that's not really the point
young people should be allowed to be moronic without being abused for it, especially when they're paying to be there.
She was right but then she bullied him over it.
When someone so obviously shows they're getting anxious (leg twitching) you shouldn't keep piling into them, especially not in a school.
>it's fricking real
Some of the clips going around show her being based and talking shit against CRT and woke ideology. But then again, people are also saying she is the villain in the film.
She definitely has traits that may appear antagonistic or aggressor-like, but ultimately she is just obsessed with herself and uses big words to appear greater than she is, very flawed person.
You gradually learn that she is a bad person as the film goes on. But this argument is never refuted or painted as bad by itself.
Fun fact: when she is running in the woods and hears screaming in the distance, it's actual audio of Heather screaming at the end of the Blair Witch Project
That totally flew over my head. Also, that scene in particular had no resolution whatsoever.
Best American film of the year. Possibly best in general.
What was the videogame and punchline?
Monster Hunter, don't know the punchline
Monster hunter. She is the greatest living conductor who got cancelled and and now has to conduct promotional events in asia.
Near the end of the film, the main character (an accomplished NYC based music composer/conductor), amidst many a controversy ranging from anything to driving a potential pupil to suicide and sexual abuse allegations against students, is advised to start over and fly low somewhere. The day before the biggest symphony of her career, she "exiles" herself to southeast asia to play a Monster Hunter concert, a mere caricature of what she worked so hard towards, as intricate cosplayers look on intently
The ending was fricking amazing. I couldn't believe it.
She said some bullshit in the beginning about how she can influence time as a conductor. However by the Monster Hunter concert in Manila, she’s handed headphones with a click track/preset tempo, implying she lost the one thing she could put her spin on as a conductor and became the “robot” in the end.
My issue was it meandered too much and didn’t explicitly focus on her downfall.
She went from being the center of attention to being the composer in a medium that doesn't really give a shit about the music at all, just the brand.
This movie was excellent. I loved how the regression happened.
I wish I could bet on Oscar awards too because there's no way she isn't going to win best actress. What has even come close yet aside from maybe Michelle Yeoh?
>Michelle Yeoh
Imagine liking everything reddit everywhere reddit all at reddit.
You're a bald homosexual mutt in his 30s bc you take after your male ancestors that allowed homosexuals to take over, pipe down.
Bro, I'm not even American. I live in a comfy country that is still an ethnostate. Your reddit movie was garbage.
>a woman conductor
lol
lmao
kind of sad they had to make one up
I thought it was based on a real person for a moment
I think Mark Strong was based off a real guy.
Mark Strong should have had a bigger role. I always wish that whenever he is on screen. So likeable guy.
That whole segment where she visits her mom's house gave me some heavy feels
>movie about cancel culture
>it's actually kino
amazing things can happen when you try to explore topics artistically instead of trying to lecture the audience like 90% of movies and TV shows today
>that last shot of her conducting a fricking Monster Hunter OST track
What a ride.
Armond already buried this gutter trash. Show's over, you can all go home now
Armond White trashed it, so I'm gonna pass on this self-indulgent drivel.
Kill all ESLs
Does anyone have the webm of her naked in her apartment?
