When I got the survey last year with a rough version of the trailer I literally told them that and that the fart joke was stupid. The only reason I can think of why they kept it is because it probably tested well with kids. I still find it abysmal though

For me it is a matter of standards. Has that been Shrek or Minions, I wouldn't have cared at all. But, kung fu Panda managed to deliver 3 movies without falling into that kind of joke, I don't even remember it in any of the specials or the few episodes of the different shows I've seen.
I don't like using this term, but it was literally the final red flag regarding the quality of writing. Even the lazy, gluttonous Panda village managed to go by without resorting to it.

There is sorta one in Secret of the Scrolls. It's not accompanied by any fart sound effect so it's kinda hard to tell. But the main movies never really had one.

Huh, pretty sure anyone can easily explain why Phantom Menace is boring - political talks and council meetings mostly devoid of emotion that will bore anyone that isn't able to full geek about the setting's lore, and with a large chunk of the plot being about stuck on the shithole of Tatooine because engine problems.
