There's a bunch of letterbox reviews of people who supposedly watched it early, but there's a lot of conflicting info >some say Po is weakened while others say he's too OP >some say Tai Lung is wasted while others say he's great in the movie >some say Chameleon is a complex villain while others say she's weak and has no backstory
The only thing everyone agrees on is that Po has two gay dads. That's the most common review on letterboxd
There's only 1 actual trailer and a bunch of TV Spots that keep reusing the same clips. The marketing for the film is terrible and they've kept hidden multiple parts for no good reason.
>"The only thing everyone agrees on is that Po has two gay dads" >co-parenting between men equals gay marriage/cohabitation
Did I miss something in between the years after kung fu Panda 3 was released?
>there's a lot of conflicting info
I suspect the info you are listing as conflicted is being affected by the the side of the political spectrum the people claiming it belong to.
(i.e. if the movie supports what I like, I will defend it even if it is shit. If the movie supports what I dislike, I will shit on it even it is great)
>Long ago, in ancient China, the peawieners ruled over Gongmen City. They brought great joy and prosperity to the city, for they had invented fireworks. But their son, Lord Shen, saw darker power in the fireworks. What had brought color and joy could also bring darkness and destruction. Shen's troubled parents consulted a soothsayer. She foretold that if Shen continued down this dark path, he would be defeated by a warrior of black and white. The young lord set out to change his fate, but what he did next only sealed it. Shen returned to his parents full of pride, but in their faces, he only saw horror. He was banished from the city forever. But Shen swore revenge. Someday, he would return, and all of China would bow at his feet.
>Young Shen was in line to rule Gongmen City, but he wanted more. I foretold that someone would stand in his way. A panda. But i never could have foretold what came next.
2 is still just as lame today as it was in 2011.
The whole thing just looks tired and bad. The commercials feel like they are for some low budget talking animal animated movie and not Kung Fu Panda. Have had no faith so far.
I like how KFP2 doesn't have the words "DreamWorks Animation presents" at the start like KFP1 does. Almost as if DreamWorks was aware that they made an average sequel that isn't worth bragging about.
Bull SHIT. They ditched the 5 (they will only appear as non-speaking cameos in cutaway scenes showing them on other missions during this movie) because of the massive paychecks they had to cut for people that barely had any lines. Now they can get back to a SANE budget for this movie. Jack Black's probably ok working for less as long as it prolongs his fame, and I'm pretty sure Nora's getting MAYbe only 1 mill, IF that. She's worth about 8 mill, and I'm pretty sure like 80% of that came from Crazy Rich Asians and Shang Chi.
Their direction for the movie was this >Po goes to a new city away from everything and faces a villain who can shapeshift into old villains
This implies a whole new cast of characters voiced by celebs. By that point you don’t have enough budget to get the other very expensive actors
Definitely gonna be the movie with the least amount of Furious Five characters, but maybe the reception will convince Dreamworks to do more with them....in the next KFP series. Like Megamind, they'll learn the lesson and apply it on the weirdest unwanted ways.
Funnily enough I think they're more relevant in 2 and 3 than in 1. In 1 they bully Po (barely), then befriend him, job against Tai Lung and frick off. 2 and 3 at least had them be part of the adventure.
I'd love one but would be considered highly experimental to the suits. At best, we could get a short film but I don't think they have KFP side projects planned unless the 4th installment makes money. I personally want to see Po and Tigress have a serious fight with Tigress winning but at least showcases how Po has grown as a fighter.
I would say so but maaaaaybe puss in boots success could get dreamworks a little more hot for spinoff films
Probably not since puss is a much bigger draw than them but who knows

This is basically your "I'm not a furry... BUT" moment. It's okay, anon.

You cannot wait to see a movie and see what she does and how she's written, gotta provide reactions for the Reaction Farm.
According to people who claim to have seen the movie, Tai Lung doesn't seem very strong in this movie (I guess it makes sense? he got effortlessly defeated by Po in the first movie so he's completely outclassed by everyone now) and his only role is being Po's cheerleader, then once the battle is over he just fricks off back to the afterlife.

To be fair, fan bias aside, Tai Lung suddenly becoming the dragon warrior and staying around (while every other master has to go back to the spirit realm) does sound more fanfic and less of a solid story. Like fan wish fulfillment.
Tailung was/is THE VILLAIN. Your fanfics are not canon, he had too much pride and anger anger in him. If someone else was in Tailung's place, he would get unset and sad about not living up to his teacher/father's expectation, but NOT go batshit insane and start breaking homes and killing people.
[...]
Tai Lung fans should be happy he's back at all and showing his true humanity
But giving Po an "attaboy," jobbing, and fricking off forever is pretty lame. They could've at least had him disappear over the rooftops so they could do something with him in a comic tie-in or some shit.
>They could've at least had him disappear over the rooftops so they could do something with him in a comic tie-in or some shit.
They can still do a tie-in with him on the other world, especially since KFP3 confirms it's a place where many things can happen, not just hell/heaven. Having him get away and be free while every other villain goes back to the other world would also be weird. We haven't seen the film yet so it may be a case where "you either go back or disappear due to magic bs"
She rarely gets backlash even when she is awful. The seagull "song" scene in the mermaid one was intentionally designed to be obnoxious which managed to get through the masses' heads to even consider Awkwafina being annoying as a possibility.
Her singing in the background in Kiss the Girl took me off guard because she actually sounded good as long as she sang quietly. Then she started to Awkwafina it and it went to shit.
The fundamental premise of Po having to give up his Dragon Warrior status is purely asinine. The first three movies has Po go through a character arc of discovering his true potential until the final battle with Kai the Soul Stealer where he finally BECOMES the Dragon Warrior and effectively fulfills his destiny. So why the frick does he ALREADY have to give up his position as Dragon Warrior to some fricking vagabond? This sounds like a passing of the torch trope fit for a FINALE. We're not supposed to end it here, we are promised a 5th and 6th film, why does this sound like they're gonna make this a rushed ending à la John Wick 4?
Tailung was/is THE VILLAIN. Your fanfics are not canon, he had too much pride and anger anger in him. If someone else was in Tailung's place, he would get unset and sad about not living up to his teacher/father's expectation, but NOT go batshit insane and start breaking homes and killing people.

Po left the Spirit Realm in KFP3 and he didn't have to go back.
>He's not Dragon Warrior material but he's no slouch.
This. I actually like it how they didn't go with most shonen anime's basic powerscaling system where once the hero proves themselves, their teammates or villains can't match them unless they're literally on the hero's level.
>Po left the Spirit Realm in KFP3 and he didn't have to go back.
That was specifically an end of the world situation and he became the master of Chi by that point, not the same. Who knows what the Chameleon's magic does to them.
I didn't even know KFP4 was coming out, but they should have called it Kung Fu Panther and had Tai Lung becoming the hero he was always meant to be instead of focusing on Po.
Hope that Mike Mitchell manages to recapture the entertaining and rewatchable quality of 1. Something that Jennifer Yuh Nelson failed to do with 2 and 3.
>no furious 5 until the credits.
No Tigress, no watch.
Why don't they make a furious 5 movie? Don't tell me they're waiting for KFP5 for the pun.
Furious Five fans should've already known it was over when they included Po's stupid dad on the poster
>villain sucks
>awkafina
Why?
There's a bunch of letterbox reviews of people who supposedly watched it early, but there's a lot of conflicting info
>some say Po is weakened while others say he's too OP

The only thing everyone agrees on is that Po has two gay dads. That's the most common review on letterboxd
one is his adopted father
the other is his real father that abandoned him
The reviews basically confirm they continue to co-parent jokes that were in the last movie.
How come those jokes weren't in the trailers?
There's only 1 actual trailer and a bunch of TV Spots that keep reusing the same clips. The marketing for the film is terrible and they've kept hidden multiple parts for no good reason.
I'm certainly not paying to watch two gay dads.
You payed for KFP3
Do they live together like in paws of destiny
Fairly sure they do. i remember the press document revealing he moved to the village to live with Po
Letterboxed users will think otherwise because they are all porn addicted weirdos with not a single original thought in their bodies.
more than likely the movie makes them seem like a couple. Also you're confusing Letterboxd with Twitter.
Gay couple jokes have been a thing since a while, though it’d be a big change for DW if they confirmed it for real in the movie
>Also you're confusing Letterboxd with Twitter
Letterboxd is literally just Xitter for film.
>abandoned
he thought his wife and son were dead motherfricker

Still haven't heard what's Chameleon's or Zhen fate
I notice not a single review so far has mentioned those damn bunnies that are in every TV ad
Hope it turns out better than 2 and 3
Most say its better than 3
2 was great.
I disagree. Mr. Ping scenes are heartwarming, but they can't save the film. The peawiener stuff isn't interesting.
Imminent failure, zero marketing, there will never be a fifth or sixth part.
It's over
Silly goose, Kung Fu Panda never dies
>dreamworks movie not having another sequel
The next one will be a 'reboot' like Puss in Boots with the Furious Five.
People would probably like to see that
It will be a repeat of TLW with 1 or 2 furgays telling everyone else to watch the movie cause it's really good or something
The Last Wish was their most profitable movie in years so that'd be good for the movie.
Why does the lizard have breasts?
Its an edit by the one Chameleon simp who's upset she's not sexier.
Since she ain't a dragon chick, then eh I'm not bothered by it.
I'm more worried by what would come of scenes like webrel though...
So I could suck the breasts out of them. Are you stupid?
Giant, shape-shifting lizard tiddies...
Flat, fat-assed mammal chicks...
Aargh! Right in the niches!
Never thought I'd see a day when a reptile female enemy was hotter than a mammal female good guy...but Zhen's design is lame and boring.

KFP2 schizo I will use you to bump the thread until relevant info comes out
I heard people online slobbering over that movie for referencing genocide. But I only saw 1. What's wrong with 2 and 3?
Nothing's wrong with them, anon is just a schizo

Beautiful film
It’s gonna be great
I'm scared bros... I don't want this to be shit...

Where did this b***h even come from, I never heard of her before The Bad Guys.
Akshually her first role was Sisu the dragon

No. It’s just that nobody cares.
That didn’t stop Ruby Gilman from being spoiled in its entirety
what happens in the credits?
A bunch of names show up
My guess is that the next movie will be called Kung Fu Panda: Furious 5, and will focus on them.
>implying there will be another movie if this one fails
Ah yes, let's make a full length feature film about the most boring characters in the franchise.
there are ways of making them interesing if they try
Give Jackie Chan more than 10 lines for once
Bull SHIT. They ditched the 5 (they will only appear as non-speaking cameos in cutaway scenes showing them on other missions during this movie) because of the massive paychecks they had to cut for people that barely had any lines. Possible, but unlikely.
We will never get a Tigress focused movie.
They only need to do this one thing...
You'll get it if Zootopia 2 doesn't bomb
I'd love one but would be considered highly experimental to the suits. At best, we could get a short film but I don't think they have KFP side projects planned unless the 4th installment makes money. She's perfect tsundere waifu material man... If 4 sucks at least she won't be in it much and not will they butcher her character.

Scailey female villains as well?
In this case, yes. Zhen is too generic. And I'm not a scaley.
I knew Chameleongays were gonna be fricking insufferable.
Silence, Zhenniger.
All reviews seem to say Awkwafina is not awful as Zhen
Awkwafina can do fine voice work, depending on the direction and character (see Ms. Tarantula).
The question is... is Zhen a good character in the story or not?
yeah I was really disappointed by her being in this but she's been fine from what I heard, a real surprise
No one will ever genuinely like this forced shit character and she'll be good for nothing beyond generic off model pinup coomershit.
Delusional, Zhen supremacy incoming
>she'll be good for nothing beyond generic off model pinup coomershit.
I give her a month before everyone goes back to drawing Tigress
As they should.
I like both. So truly, I am the winner here.
She rarely gets backlash even when she is awful. The seagull "song" scene in the mermaid one was intentionally designed to be obnoxious which managed to get through the masses' heads to even consider Awkwafina being annoying as a possibility.

I just wish they'd left Tai Lung alive, even if he wasn't the Dragon Warrior. Keep things open-ended at least.
He'll be doing fine in the spirit realm, chilling with Oogway
Yeah but that's not as much fun as assuming he's off on badass adventures.
No they shouldn't.
