Dark Crystal is pretty much the only show I can think of where they had a celebrity voice cast and everyone actually gave a great performance. Maybe it really does come down to shitty direction.
It’s because she’s in too much and never shows her A game in Hollywood movies. I hear she’s good in that one drama about a grandma dying but nobody teling her, but that’s a serious film not meant to be a marketable blockbuster. In every big movie she’s in she only acts sarcastic, aloof and dumb.
KFP is also sacred for a lot of people, so casting her for the new hero under Po is awkward. Had they gotten the Spider Gwen VA or someone else like that, nobody would have cared.

the character movements and textures feel movie level but I agree, something about this feels kind of tv quality for some reason. Maybe because the other KFP movies felt a lot grander
Not having the FF at all is very weird so I hope at least they have cameos in the beginning before going on some sort of journey to the other side of the world which will lead into KFP 5. Otherwise it will feel like they're only absent for budget reasons.

This is dumb. This is something Po already should know since he was LITERALLY a giant moron before he just happened to become the Dragon Warrior.
The story should instead be Po training some wiz kid martial arts genius who has no emotions and slowly training them on the things that they lack that only he can provide like not taking shit so seriously, the passion for kung fu etc. Instead I bet the fox voiced by Awkwafina is just going to be every character she plays which is le quirky girl, and that character type is basically just what Po was / is so I don't get the "off-couple" description.
I guess you could also do the "Po forgot where he came from" shtick and have him be super serious at the start and the fox helps him remember his roots. As long as it is acknowledged that Po himself was an unlikely hero.
