Does Penders actually think his art is good?
Or is he that confident his writing will compensate for any vomit inducing image?
This
, could be the reason, make them so distinct there is no way they can sue him.
>Misses the part where 25 years later is the introduction to the book, reprinted
Kill it with fire.
Silver's girlfriend got ugly
>All your father and I want is what's best for you.
So how's he gonna get around her father being a character he doesn't have the rights to? Just never mention his name no matter how awkward it sounds in dialogue?
Just use a modified version. Apparently.
Dear God this looks like dogshit. Take it out back and put this project outta it’s misery already.
Get lost Penders
Jesus how can someone make such deviantart tier slop and be ok with it?
Ken Penders I swear has the exact same mentality as Chris Chan. It’s this unique Southern hick raised-by-your-grandparents sexuality and style, where your idea of a woman comes from your grandmother, you were stuck too long watching soap operas on her behalf, and you project this onto Sonic characters you claim to own and love sexually
When I first saw official Lara-Su artwork, I honestly thought these shitty pics was created by an anon to mock Penders. Like I had no idea his work is this bad. Looks like shit created by a mental patient.
Holy fricking shit how can you be such an artlet
>random lighting
>shading with the airbrush like an amateur
>unclear values
>faded and strange colours
>horrific faces and bodies
You can use these as jumpscare material. There's nothing sexual about it but it immediately gives the same feeling as deviantart latex fetish art. Even Sonichu is unironicallt nicer to look at, at least that can be seen as a charming children's doodle
No words will ever describe how unacceptable this is.
Remember anons… and I should remember this too. Perhaps we may suck at drawing. But we must never give up. Afterall, we are not as bad as Ken. Even stick figures are better than this.
We should redraw this crap and send it to him. Not only to btfo him artistically but also for copyright seethe
Maybe we should open a thread later with that assignment
I'd contribute
Bad news, been trying to open a draw thread, jannie is deleting it. I've opened one for the third time now.
I'm not even being warned or banned or anything either so I think the dude is just fricking with me, lol
Aaaand it got deleted again, welp. I tried anons.
I am legitimately way better than Ken Penders
ew
Why the frick does most of Archie draws their characters with hair on top of their quills/fur, it just looks cringy and uncanny either removing or making it the same color of their fur/similar shapes of their quills would make them look a lot better. And hobestly that some shit that annoys me when people draw anthros. STOP PUTTING HUMAN HAIR ON CARTOONY ANTHRO CHARACTERS.
my homie, where have you been all my life
Penders never understood that those were suppose to be quills and literally treated then like Echidna had thick fleshy tentacles on their heads.
Don't worry, bros. Penders has been brewing this story since 2011 (technically more counting his Archie Sonic stuff). A story 13 years in the making has got to be kino.
Ken Penders will single-handedly save the comic book industry.
>he laughed
Its out ?
"This summer". He sad he's selling it at Comic Con.
Can someone spray water in his face like with tom preston?
Don't do this kind of shit. There's so many better ways to humiliate dumb people from the internet than this gradeschool tier stuff.
Agreed, I’d rather make a draw thread so that we could redraw Ken’s art to him to make him seethe… if the Jannies would let me.
There's just something super off about how Ken Penders and people like him draw. Both him and Chris Chan draw that thousand yard stare on everyone and none of the shapes make any sense. Sonic has such a simple character design, how does an adult artist frick him up so badly?
Took him long enough.
How long has it been 10 years?
Talk about striking when the iron is stone cold.
It's both STILL not out and yet STILL going to come out? How long does it take to draw something this bad? Is it not going to be a traditional ongoing, floppy-sized comic with multiple issues? Is he going to release like an epic sized graphic novel all at once?
Technically, what he's promising to sell soon is his reprint/remake of the Archie comic's 20 Years Later story.
The actual Lara-Su Chronicles are still with no ETA.
Genuinely what the frick happened to his art? It was never particularly good, but this is like the autism took hold of him, and burrowed in his brain, making a Chris Chan monster.
If Sega sues him, there is a God.
Well no Knuckles so he'll probably dodge that bullet.
Reprinted pages from 25 Years later that include Knuckles are in it.
He's on the fricking cover.
No that's Red Sonic
Man imagine fighting tooth and nail for your life's work and said life's work is THIS. Like think of all the stuff far better creators got screwed out of. And then look at this.
that's hat knuckles, diferent characterand essentially goku.
That's not Knuckles, that's his own original character, Bluckles!
I'm losing my shit at the random black guy on the right among these alien freaks.
Y-you dont consider them human do you anon, you know they primeapes right?
Srsly the frick is with the rando black dude
>Rememba' me?
Top right it's der coomer
>random black guy astronaut
I recall that he isn't some random black guy.
He is some athlete or actor that Pender just copy pasted into the fish bowl helmet.
His audience told him that he was playing with fire stealing someone's image without permission.
Wait this is a real person..... I know Penders is moronic but...
Yeah, it's Anthony Mackie. Ken's response to this image was 'what's the big deal, everyone uses references.'
Followed by 'What do you mean I have to pay to use his likeness? He can just play the character in the movie.
I think he'd look a bit less out-of-place if he was drawn looking younger. A grown man hanging out with all these furry weirdos just looks like an episode of Sesame Street
Is it known what's that character's role or purpose, yet?
I think hes some kind of explorer?
Is "Michael Taylor" a real person?
>DA FUQ IS DIS?!
Wait, is that Nate Morgan? Wasn't he created for the show?
Nate was made for the show, but thats not him. One of Ken's OCs. Probably from The Lost Ones.
Why is there a coomer in the background?
It seems that, on an eventual lawsuit, Penders is betting all his chips on the supposed fact that Sega has never taken legal actions against him for selling Archie Sonic-related merchandise.
I'm not an expert, but it literally sounds as if his plea would be:
>"I stole from their IP for 10 years, and only NOW they care! How am not I the victim?"
Similar to his posture regarding Shade. On the DidYouKnowGaming video he practically admitted to have no right over her, and he just keep saying he does so when the lawsuits come, he can claim:
>"For years I lied about she being my character... only NOW they come after me! How am I not the victim?"
Penders seems to live on the "Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth" premise... wonder if any lawgays present could redpill us on how could things proceed.
He still gets reamed in court if they actually pursue it. There isn't some squatter's rights bs for IPs, and if he actually included the shit he said he did it's still Sonic characters, just aged up a bit and interacting with his shit OCs. He won't be able to do shit, although it probably isn't worth the time or money to take him to court for Sega unless they could garnish his wages in perpetuity like Nintendo did to Gary Bowser.
>He owns the stories he wrote for Archie
>He owns the characters he wrote for Archie
WHY DOES HE STILL DRAW THEM LIKE FRICKING SONIC THE HEDGEHOG CHARACTERS?! THEM BEING FRICKING ECHIDNAS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PLOT. HE COULD LITERALLY REDRAW THE ENTIRETY OF HIS STORY WITH HUMANS AND NOT CHANGE A THING ABOUT THE PLOT.
do you want to see page after page of humans drawn like that?
I kinda do. give us some new unprecedented autism art.
Has he even sold a single issue of this abortion? Sega might not even be able to sue him for literally stealing Knuckles and Echidnas if he doesn't even try to make a profit off of this thing.
He hasn't. A lot of people are pretty sure he KNOWS he's fricked if he tries to release it for money.
Because he knows that the only reason why people remember him as the "Archie Sonic" guy. No one cares about his story; they care about lore involving Sonic characters.
Wasn't the actual ruling along the lines of
>You don't own jack shit
>But since we at Archie are moronic, we are obliged to look the other way whenever you make a buck off those things.
No. The ruling was
>Upon further review, Archie cannot provide proof of work for hire contracts, and so does not own ANY of thier pre2000 characters.
Archiegays tear into Penders, often rightly; but they overlock Archie's gross incompetence.
No, the real, real ruling was:
>there was no ruling, in reality they settled the whole deal out of court
Archie actually managed to prove the work for hire contracts existed at some point, with Penders unable to deny it (the court records that have surfaced show this).
However, Archie, rather than incompetent, was stupid and coward. Penders wanted Sega to get involved (why he thought that was a good idea, no one knows), but Archie didn't because they feared Sega would not renew the license (that was about to expire) due to them being dragged into a legal mess that they started (remember, it was Archie who sued Penders). So, Archie decided to settle out of court, the details remain unknown.
This last bit we know it due to Penders' statement seen in the DYKG video (of course, we should take them with a grain of salt, as Penders is a compulsive liar)
?si=U-pLUIxebgicV-rp
TL;DR: There was no ruling. Archie and Penders settled out of court due to Archie's cowardice to push forward because they were afraid Sega would be mad at them.
if this is true then penders actually pulled a 300IQ move on archie, and knew they wouldn't want sega to get involved.
I think that's giving Penders too much credit. In his delusions, he probably thought Sega would side with him, seeing him as the pivotal man behind Sonic's success in the West.
I believe Penders wanted Sega involved as an opening to sue them (and Bioware, maybe) for Sonic Chronicles. Remember, this entire thing started with people pointing out to Ken that the stuff in Chronicles was similar to his Archie concepts.
Penders also seems to believe Bioware wanted to directly adapt his work for Chronicles.
He has not said it as such, but he always mentions the one time in a 2007-2008 Con when "Bioware people wanted to talk with me, but I wasn't in my booth, so they only greeted my wife and son".
It seems he thinks that a clear undeniable evidence that Bioware wanted to:
>Adapt his work
>Work with him on the game
But everything they went to do could have been to say hello and thank him for the ideas they got from his work on the comic.
My biggest gripe regarding Penders and Chronicles, is that the game came out BEFORE he started copyrighting his shit.
Thus, he has no right to say they were ripping him off, because even if Bioware indeed took "his" ideas and adapted them for a game, due to his WFH all of them belonged to Sega at the moment, therefore they didn't owe me neither money nor a mention in the credits.
Honestly, how fricked up the legal system must be for the judge to not throwing out the case due to that, rather than because of the statute of limitations as it was the case?
>therefore they didn't owe him neither money nor a mention in the credits*
kek, me an idiot
Yes, Ken doesn’t really own them, but Archie doesn’t really either, since they fricked up by having no original contracts.
Sega was supposed to show up in court and claim ownership, which would have brought a court decision to Archie’s favor, but Sega refused.
And so Archie had to settle out of court.
Archie didn't want Sega in the courtroom, but at the same time, Sega didn't want to go either.
Who gives a shit? It's not like he's "ruining" anything here. Sonic sucks, even as a game, ans specially as a comic.
But anon, these aren’t echidnas. They’re an alien race called the Echyd'nya.
Yes, really.
Because the only audience he has are insane Archie fanboys.
This.
He got everything he wanted, but it's almost as if he studied every deviantArt image of autistic Sonic fetishes ever assembled in he last 10 years and found his true calling.
Why are they so fricking creepy?
this artist is based.
I made a piece of art like five years ago that he said he was going to put in this book.
Said piece of art was making fun of the fact that the book still wasn't out.
I don't think he ever realized.
I'm looking forward to this autistic narcissist getting a dose of reality when barely anyone buys his decade in the making Archie Sonic fanfiction book that looks like total ass. Like honestly why does he think anyone cares about Mobius 25 Years Later? It's one of the worst storylines in the preboot.
Penders lives in a narcissistic delusion. Even if he only sold a single copy, he will consider it a huge success and a "victory for the small creator".
Honestly, I'm kinda sickeningly curious if someone could buy a copy and scan it so it can be storytimed on The Ride or something.
I'm confident at least one extreme Archiegay will buy one copy to then burn it, record himself doing so, and then post it on Xitter while tagging Penders.
Hopefully, that Archiegay is kind enough to scan it and storytime it before the deal.
That's the thing that really burns my ass about Penders. Him positioning all of this as "a win for small creators" as though this was Don Rosa and Carl Banks winning royalty rights and bylines to everything they did in the Duck comics makes the whole argument for creator rights seem like it's supporting lazy entitled shitheads to thinks they don't own.
Does Ken Penders even have an audience?
Yes, they are rare, and their real numbers are muddied by double and triple fake shill accounts, and trolls who just love to trick him.
People who want to laugh at him and make memes out of his stuff, I guess.
Think we could've gotten a Collection or Omnibus of some of the Archie Sonics had Penders not gone maximum autism.
That's the worst and funniest synopsis I have ever seen in my life. He's such a narcissistic c**t that he doesn't even include a plot but a shitty rant.
Is this garbage actually available for purchase?
Yes, but only in Penders' super special exclusive wonderful site
is the implication here that the characters were children in the original and now have grown up, which is why now they look like anthro radiation survivors?
>Here is a compilation of a particular of Archie Sonic run, that is pivotal yet somehow completely unrelated to my 100% original story by me
Penders is such a disingenuous lazy frick. If his magnum opus is so important, the first thing he should have done is remake the whole M25YL from sctratch, using only 100% original stuff. Are Spaz and other who worked on the original even going to see some of the money?
I know, I know... deep down he knows he wouldn't sell jackshit if it wasn't for the Sonic brand, but still.
Something tells me that a lawyer didn't look over any of this.
Yes
So Penders is like the professional Chris-chan?
no, you need an actual job for that
No, the long-short of Pender's story is.
>Got work at Archie just writing little funny stories until he could get a gig with the big boys at Image
>His pitches never worked out
>Realized that everyone liked the Knuckles character and wanted him to have his own comic
>At the same time, the comics were finally starting to become darker like SatAm had been, so he could tell more serious stories
>Since Knuckles has no lore, he can pretty much write whatever he wants
>Essentially creates a whole mythos just for Knuckles using the old notes from the comic he pitched to Image so that people can finally read the comic he wanted to write
Knuckles was just a means to an end.
The whole "Knux" nickname was coined by him because he didn't want "his" MC to be named after a body part.
As anon said, Knuckles was a mean to an end. He admitted at first most of his ideas he pitched them for Sonic, but Archie and Sega never greenlit them. However, Knuckles was not policed that much and he took the echidna and turned him into his personal canvas.
>The whole "Knux" nickname was coined by him
Saying that was coined by him or even anyone for that matter is like saying someone invented calling Superman SUPES or Spider-man SPIDEY. Someone probably had to be the first, sure but people always gravitate towards nicknames
>Supes to Superman
>Spidey to Spider-Man
But the question is, how fast where those nicknames incorporated into the comic mainstream after their main widespread?
Even if Penders wasn't the one who made up "Knux" (whose "x" sound has always made me question how do you reach that nickname in a natural way, but let's leave that aside), he still was the one to incorporate into the comic, probably for the reasons mentioned before. Unless I missed a pre-Penders use of the nickname.
Has "Knux" ever been used outside of Archie Sonic?
I may be talking out of my ass... but I fail to remember another Sonic product (be it, game, tv show, comic, etc...) where he wasn't called just "Knuckles".
>Has "Knux" ever been used outside of Archie Sonic?
Sonic calls him Knux all the time in IDW.
>written by a bunch of former Archie employees
I mean, fair enough...
I do wonder how that is translated to Japanese, given Sonic IDW is translated to be sold there as well.
The dread i felt on my body after learning there's japanese people who knows about Archie Sonic and even draw fanart of the comic characters
I hope they also like Sonic Underground
Why dread?
They Japanese are terrifying creatures.
They must not be allowed to spread, hopefully sonic and friends can stop them.
>japanese people who knows about Archie Sonic and even draw fanart of the comic characters
Most are porn artists who got to know the Archie cast through Western fans' commissions.
Makes sense. I wonder how the few Japanese fans out there feel about Archie in general?
>Since Knuckles has no lore, he can pretty much write whatever he wants
Ironic considering in the games at the time, Knuckles was the character with the most lore... but you would have needed to play the games and pay attention to have known that, something he admitted to not have done.
>this guy just like chris chan ?
I don't say this to sound like an butthole, but I always found it really interesting how people compare any random guy with Chris when Chris has had so much insane shit happen in his story that most other internet lolcows or real life failure stories will never reach the full extent of.
What I'm trying to say is that no, Ken isn't the professional Chris-chan and he never will be. Maybe only in relation to his insistence of owning "official" Sonic characters, but he will never commit incestuous rape either
> but he will never commit incestuous rape either
This happens in the timeline where he never got hired for Archie
Sonic is a cursed franchise.
Hideous
Thank you anons, I have now lost my appetite just by seeing these repulsive sketches
>these repulsive sketches
Anon... those are the repulsive final versions
... am I being punk'd?
It’s sexually offensive, is what it is. Like a combination of ‘I feel fantastic’ tier doll fetishism, chris chan tier grandma love, cancer crystals, unaware asexuality, and furrydom combined. Like really something you have a patient draw that helps you realize they have severe brain damage, or a much less stable and aware Henry Darger (wasn’t there a similar artist who was much more deranged than Darger? His name eludes me). I’m not saying this to exaggerate, it really is plain to see. This is really the work of someone you find out didn’t know people had genitals far late into his adult life. Like you ask them ‘draw a woman’ and they just confidently sit there unknowingly drawing a guy’s bony carcass in a wig
and Ken is, how would you say, unmarried?
He somehow has a wife, who is a lawyer, and she is the bread winner. And she is just as twisted as he is. She was the one who told him to sue to begin with.
Nope, it’s finished. All of his finished art nowadays looks like that.
Hmmm, maybe I should open a thread then, see what happens. Will need to wait for this thread to die though, there’s always that one Jannie that is allergic to multiple Sonic-related threads at once.
>She was the one who told him to sue to begin with.
To give more context, long after he left Archie, Penders learned the comics he worked on were going to be reprinted, thus he asked if he was going to get any revenues for the reprints (a fair question). He either got a negative or no response at all, which eventually led to him to ask for a copy of his original WFH contract (probably to double check if he could appeal).
Archie told him they didn't have his contract anymore. It was after this that Penders, under the advice (if not influence) of his wife, started his copyright stunt, which eventually led to the Archie lawsuit.
He always speaks about "his lawyers" or "his legal advisors", but many (me included) think it is only his wife.
Yep, this sums it all up.
>He always speaks about "his lawyers" or "his legal advisors", but many (me included) think it is only his wife.
Agreed. And this is a reminder that I can get at least some semblance of what I want in life if I continue to apply myself. If even someone like Ken can get a caring, bread-winning life and still have a nice house and car after everything, surely I can get what I want as well.
Wife*
That's the part that's always so funny to me.
I have a feeling that NO ONE at Archie gets residuals. I highly doubt DeCarlo was making gobs of money off of the infinite reprints of Archie comics. Yet Penders assumed he'd be getting some sort of kickback.
He is that important in his own mind
If this turns into a project to btfo kenders with artanons hmu on discord "sheepy6646", since I might miss the thread
i'll do the logo
Sounds good, will do!
ew
>Diva-isnous
what does that even mean?
Diva, combined with devious.
Diva means a popular singer of non-operatic music, and a person who demands attention.
Devious means a person is good at lying.
Deviousness means to wander.
So it's kind of like calling someone a prostitute, but in a really roundabout way.
Didn't Archie lose Pender's contract in a fire? I swear, Penders started that fire himself.
Some anon said that Penders used to get in trouble for smoking in the archive room. No idea if that’s true but it would be very interesting if it is.
Tamers12345> Chris Chan >>>Ken
Tamers is unironically good fun.
I concede
You mean "concur"?
You have to admit that the Knuckles comic is much more enjoyable than Sonichu
We give Kenny-boy much deserved shit, but "Knuckles slowly discovering the history of his people and dealing with the weight of 20 generations of his forebearers watching him fix their mistakes" is an unexpectedly cool premise for what it is.
Too bad Penders was a mediocre writer on his best days.
I have never read a sonic comic BUT was Ken that bad? he wrote the book for a long time so someone must have liked it
Penders was writing what might as well have been OC-centric AU sonic fanfiction before that sort of thing became widely available.
Of course kids liked it, but that doesn't mean it was good.
He was definitely one of the weakest writers on the team, but the comic's quality was already all over the place even without him. Hell if he wasn't such a litigious drama queen you'd probably see people unironically saying they liked his work just because it's what they grew up with.
He's hated because he's an egotistical jackass. Not just because he's a shit writer.
>Not just because he's a shit writer.
Nah, he was MOSTLY a shit writer. And I say mostly because the dude actually had a lot of great ideas but didn't know how to turn them into very interesting or good stories most of the time. He did manage to make some good stories despite this
His "great ideas" were all blatantly copied from sci-fi shows and movies he grew up with.
Literally Chris Chan
I mean you can argue for or against most anyone's work quality but being known as the guy who intentionally and willingly destroyed the series you loved for his own petty fame is just.... no.
>Hell if he wasn't such a litigious drama queen you'd probably see people unironically saying they liked his work just because it's what they grew up with.
Plenty of people did before the lawsuit, Ian Flynn among them.
He looks more like Mike Tyson here.
>those damn talking apes
It's actually a traced picture of actor Anthony Mackie.
funny how Penders seems to think this is a huge honor for the person whose image is being stolen.
STORYTIME OF PAIN, ON STANDBY. MY ERECTION IS READY.
What happened?
It's like an even worse version of what happened to the Penny Arcade artist.
>alzheimer's progression through art
This is what happens when you take a writer/artist and place them in a genre they know absolutely nothing about.
He's way too fixated on adding as much detail as possible to cartoon characters who don't need it.
It's not just that; Penders colors things digitally like he's trying to prove that you can't tell the difference between his art and 3D renders. The only problem is that the 3D renders he's pretending to copy are from the fricking 90s.
That or he's literally tracing 3D renders., which would explain
I think a big issue is the ugly airbrush he thinks is shading. It's a real amateur mistake first time digital artists make where they think it's an automatic shading tool. You can definitely make these stylized characters work and it's not very difficult, there's hundreds of junior artists in mobile game companies who pull this look off daily. He needs to learn about value buildup or shading with layer masks and also think about where the light is coming from
The shading on that sonic is slightly too realistic and it's off putting.
Another example how you can paint with values to make a character look 3D without loosing the cartoon appeal. This homie needs to look up some drawing tutorials on youtube
The fricked up thing is that penders probably doesn't even like or play video games. None of his work ever seems to have any references past the mid 90s sonic stuff that isn't just original material. At least most sonic autists actually like the games.
>probably
Kenders directly states that he got into sonic because his kid plays sonic, he himself does not give two shits about video games.
Does anyone else feel like Ken Penders is who Chris Chan would have grown up to be in an alternate timeline?
>Does anyone else feel like Ken Penders is who Chris Chan would have grown up to be in an alternate timeline?
No question about it.
we could classify all of these lolcows as alternative counterparts for chris, kidna like a autisticverse
It feels like Penders evolved into a Chris while Chris was born as one. Penders is married and held down a career and seemingly slowly mindbroke himself by overexposure to Knuckles over many years
This is why adults need to take the approach of "aww, it's a cute little video game and I'm going to make a cute little comic for the kids and maybe some adults will find it entertaining too" and not "I SEE POTENTIAL AND I AM GOING TO MAKE THE DEEPEST MOST SERIOUS LORE LIKE YOU WON'T BELIEVE!"
The fact that this thread is up for over a day is really depressing.
We’re gonna keep this going until 500 posts or more now
Why? This is part of the reason why you don't get nice things, because you focus your energies on shitty things.
Has anybody drawn the IDWs OCs in Pender's style yet?
Anon please… the world doesn’t need to suffer anymore than what it already is
His style is bad but funny, if there's a person who's capable at mimicking Pender's art enough I would pay them to re do that drawing I posted in his style.
