You can't blame Viggo for this. It was a reshoot many months after. He had lost his perfect accent and had no time to get it back.
Why did they need to reshoot it? That would be like if Justice League had a scene where Ben Affleck said "Can you at least point me to Atlantis?" and he became noticeably fatter from one second to the next.
That scene itself wasn't reshot, it was a totally new addition done during the reshoots.
Probably something to do with PJ walking back from making Aragorn fight Sauron in person. He later got replaced by a generic troll with CGI pasted over the already shot scene.
That would have been incredibly stupid if Aragorn had fought Sauron so that increases my respect for Jackson for having the sense to walk it back.
that did happen
>morally black and white christcuck medieval shit
how do people not fall asleep from boredom watching this slop?
Hating the LOTR trilogy is peak contrarianism. You're not cool or special.
I don’t in theory. I hate christians mostly, and tolkien basically repackaged pagan stories with his hideous israelite morality.
Some Pagan moralities are israelite too like humility and charity, ape.
>humility and charity
>israeli
>how do people not fall asleep from boredom watching this slop?
>slop
Slop is something generic and bland made whitout love, care or passion with the sole purpose of making money with the least amount of effort possible.
Even if you fundamentally opose everything that Tolkien and LoTR represent, you can't say with a straight face that Tolkien didn't pour his soul into those books, you are free to not like them, but can't say they weren't made with passion, they are the complete opposite of slop
Brown person detected.

???????
t. eastern european
Eastern Europeans love Tolkien.
The ones that hate him are mostly fedora homosexuals and shitskins
Can confirm.
have you read Perumov's fanfic? i remember liking book 1 and parts of book 2, but book 3 is completely bonkers
At some point in adolescence I perhaps would, but after comparing GRRM's slop and Tolkien stuff, especially Children of Húrin, I find this what if "Sauron was le good" retelling distasteful and primitive.
i liked the idea of gathering Nazgul rings and Boromir's son vs Cirdan, that and the ridiculous dragon fanfic in book 3 are the only parts i remember
Yeah, I remember those parts, but that was too much of a teenage rebellion take on LotR, but first book about them just adventuring to find out what is happening is fairly good.
Another Eastern Euro here, yeah, I have those books. First one was kind of ok.
When you get older you will understand.
Found the roastie.
Why was this scene cut
Because Viggo sucked in it
Wouldn't be surprised if he asked for them to cut it
It showed the heroes committing a war crime
Mordor had already violated the geneva convention by catapulting enemy soldier heads into the city
>releasing prisoners is a war crime
Two wrongs don't make a right. What are you, twelve?
Like in Oppenheimer?
I'm genuinely curious if Oppenheimer is a lot of people's first exposure to the concept that a protagonist doesn't necessarily have to be heroic.
>a protagonist doesn't necessarily have to be heroic.
I agree
But that makes who the good or bad guy is entirely a matter of subjectivity
>dude Hitler was le good
Baby's first edgy post. Frick off.
>no I can't dispute your point in itself, have some seethe at the pic you chose to make it with instead
I accept your admission of defeat
Could have used fricking Genghis Khan or Vlad the Impailer but clearly from the (You) Hiltler was the right choice
Seethe harder, goblin
The truth of your kind is getting out
Hitler was either a genocidal authoritarian butthole who killed millions of people throughout Europ, or he was the guy who got millions of Germans killed by declaring war on basically everyone he could reach and brought Germany to it's knees.
Subjective opinion
People only pretend to give a shit about war deaths depending on "who's killed"
Pretty much, yeah. The same thing happened in WW1. The Allied propaganda told us Kaiser Wilhelm wanted to “rule the world” and made up atrocity stories about the “Rape of Belgium.”
Then the war ends, the governments shut down their wartime propaganda, and people learn that WW1 was a lot more complicated, and mostly based on lies. Suddenly the citizens of the Allied powers are anti-war and anti-government. Big problem when they try to start WW2.
So after the Allies manage to start and eventually win WW2, they don’t make the same mistake about shutting down the wartime propaganda departments. So that’s why in 2023 kids in school are still reading propaganda from 1940 about how Hitler wanted to “rule the world” and made-up atrocity stories about the “Holocaust.” Because they learned that once you put the propaganda out there you can’t back down, or the people become harder to control.
hitler was a gud boi
Hitler and the Nazi party have stated hundreds of times including in filmed speeches that their express goal is to rule the world. moronic /misc/ shizos are becoming more delusional by the day
>citation needed
Can you show us even a few instances of this? Maybe one of those filmed speeches.
>'It is prohibited to kill, injure or capture an adversary by resort to perfidy. Acts inviting the confidence of an adversary to lead him to believe that he is entitled to, or is obliged to accord, protection under the rules of international law applicable in armed conflict, with intent to betray that confidence, shall constitute perfidy' (Article 37(1) of the Protocol Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, and Relating to the Protection of Victims of International Armed Conflicts (Protocol I), of 8 June 1977)
Aragorn bros, what's our response?
Definitions of war crimes that didn't exist at that time or even in that fictional reality aren't relevant
So you'd have been OK with the films depicting the protagonists raping Orc women and killing Orc children just because it isn't technically illegal in Tolkein's (racist) fictional world? Yikes.
>you'd have been OK with the films depicting it
Edgelordy where Tolkien wasn't at all so it would be off, he barely hinted at that kind of shit instead of spelling it out
Missing the point entirely.
I know it was bait but I'm bored.
It wasn't. I only claim he's a war criminal because I want to know where people draw the line when it comes to protagonists' behaviour. I'm still waiting for a satisfactory explanation for why killing an unarmed messenger is acceptable behaviour from a supposed hero while, say, him killing Orc women and children is not.
NTA but I would contend that's entirely why they removed this scene from the film, they filmed it and then when they were editing the film they realized it didn't make any sense for Aragorn to do something so dishonorable so they took it out.
Probably the most straightfoward and convincing answer I've yet come across. It's amazing how people will tie themselves in knots to defend the indefensible sometimes. Thank you, anon.
>Kino orc child murder
>Bad somehow
Neither Gondor or any of it's dependencies, neither the Dunedain of the North nor any of the other free peoples of Middle Earth were signatories to the Geneva convention.
Nor was Nazi Germany. Does that mean we shouldn't view their actions as morally wrong? If a world leader today repudiated the conventions, invaded a neighbouring country, and began systematically exterminating every man, woman, and child in that country, would you shrug your shoulders and say, 'Well he hasn't broken any law'? What a morally bankrupt standard.
I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic but that is legitimately happening right now and this site is like the number one place to find people who will not only shrug their shoulders but will in fact actively cheer it on. The fact that it's backfiring on the invading country and they're actually losing is one of the few good things that has happened on this planet in the last few years. Makes me think, maybe humanity's not so fricked after all, it can actually still happen that a world leader does something morally reprehensible and is punished for it.
You've completely ignored the substance of my argument. If Russia—which is what I assume you're referring to—officially repudiated the Geneva Conventions, would its actions in Ukraine cease to be evil and become morally neutral? Would you argue, 'Well Russia hasn't technically broken the law' or would you recognize that as a morally bankrupt position? Now apply the same logic to Rohan.
My response is you're gay and the geneva convention is wrong.
>geneva convention is wrong.
This is the response of an imbecile.
More like geneva suggestion amiright lads?
You don't bring along low value prisoners on a covert op or on a small column.
Any c**t that looks wrong at the doc, pulls out his mobile phone or just better safe than sorry anyway.
Also don't google any deployment of the Gurkha, funny buggers them
>Aragorn bros, what's our response?
Ok, go to website.
And in this case , website means Shelob's lair, where one would meet a grisly death at the hands , or more likely claws , of a giant , web crafting spider
If you kill your enemies, they win. Gondor NEEDS immigration from Mordor to survive.
sauron never officially declared war, he just attacked so all bets are off
because its clumsy and rushed
the scene was done so much unbelievably better in the book
also the movie is already 3 hrs long, they needed to cut unnecessary shit and the scene with the mouth doesn't accomplish anything plot wise
Too kino for theaters
it makes Aragorn look like a bloodthirsty murderous butthole
Do teeth naturally come out that way or is that aggressive filing?
Lart us gart thrart thar Mines of Moria
Imbecile.
what's your problem man?
Your low resolution meddling.
I'm gonna keep posting it because it bothers you
One day you’re going to walk by me with it pulled up on your phone and I’m going to rupture your gallbladder with my wiener.
This isn't a natural reaction to low res images, you may already have been gay and already a rapist, fyi
Irrelevant
Just making sure you're aware, happy raping frendo
That would have to be a pretty long wiener.
>trying to fake like you're freezing while wearing tons of makeup you're allergic to and like 60 pounds of costume on a set that's over 100 degrees while covered in artificial snow that's sticky and burning the frick out of your eyes that's also blowing everywhere
Ngl they all did decently in that scene considering
Reminder that the extended editions suck and contain no valuable additions
Reminder that the extended editions suck and frick (formerly feed and seed)
how long would aragorn have lasted in the Skarch
THAMUSH!
LET JOOSTICE BE DUN UPON 'IM!
>I bid thee welcome
Yeah but how much did he bid? That always bothered me
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this line was delivered in a somewhat funny way.
His whole Theoden like speech amping them up in attack Mordor too, struggling to get back into character
Exact same thing with karl urban’s pre battle speech in return of the king. He somehow changes accents several times
I didn't even know Karl Urban was in Lord of the Rings. Did Nicole know about this?
Why would Aragorn declare war on peaceful Mordor just because a few criminal orcs robbed some peasants in Gondor? Whole thing reeks of a falseflag operation tbh. Anyone know anything about Mordors oil deposits?
The Afghanistan comparison doesn't even work here because it was the Saudis that did 9/11. Whereas in LotR there were no orcs outside of Mordor.
Sauron is literally evil incarnate lol. Everything he touches turns innately evil. Killing orcs or corrupted men like the mouth is a morally good act in universe. Enough with the sophistry about muh war crimes against fricking lucifer.
Actually he's a lackey of evil incarnate
He's not incarnate in the movie
Ever read Paradise Lost? There is no such thing as absolute good or absolute evil. Life is more complicated than that.
>dehumanizing your enemy to justify killing him
You sound like a Nazi.
It's not that bad.
No, but the sequels were.
>tfw we will never get the weird Del Toro version with 2 films where Smaug looks like an axe
Anyone else feel like it would have been badass to see Gandalf do some proper magic like a dungeons and dragons character. We never see him go to town on a whole army of Orcs with lightning or anything, all he ever does is talk, talk and more talk. Laaaaame!
Have I got a treat for you.
11 year old me could never get past the fricking Dwimorberg level.
I remember getting stuck on that for a long time myself, it was unusually difficult for how early it was in the game. I think I ended up going through the other two storylines first before returning to Aragorn's and then by that point I was skilled enough to beat it. Worth it too, the levels afterwards were way better.
I loved this game but the coop forced me to babysit my then kid brother through the game, heavy handicap as if the game wasn't hard enough at some points.
Play the LOTR RTS from the 2000s, I still remember getting Gandalf right in the middle of a horde of enemies and using that ring off light spell to wipe them all out.
Can't mention the RTS without linking this
“Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow,
Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow.
None has ever caught him yet, for Tom, he is the Master:
His songs are stronger songs, and his feet are faster.
Sauron btfo, ty anon I'd never seen this before
>You wouldnt part an old man from his walking stick
homie you just took a huge fire demon to suplex city
It's like pro athletes who get arthritis. Joints wear out, anon.
>older than my dad you say?

Ok, understood.
That's traditional male rohanian garb in the books
Same artist.
This is not traditional male 'rohanian' garb in the books, anon.
Anon, that is, quite literally, a man
IDGAF I'll cook. Miranda can swing my sword. If you know what I mean.
she likes em young
Yikes, that age gap is problematic
Shut the frick up homosexual, you deserve the rope if you think a 6 thousand years old can hook up with a 90 year old. Hope you get into a list.
Realistically speaking how tight can a 6k yo pussy be?
One hand? Two? Clapping?
he was supposedly speaking with a old form of speech that Sauron was more familiar with
worst scene of the entire trilogy
I have a token I was bidden to show thee
OHH YOU TOUCH MY TA LA LA
listen to how he says this
#t=4m6s
Keep in mind that Viggo Mortensen is American and Americans cannot do British accents.
His British accent is passable for the majority of the film tbh, the other Americans in the cast do a decent job as well.
I actually don't think I've ever seen any of the extended editions aside from Fellowship, but I've seen so many of the scenes from the extended edition that I feel like I have. But I think whenever they show these movies on TV and stuff they use the theatrical cut.
THE BLARCK LARND WAS ONE THING ARARGORN BUT YOU WON'T LAST A DAY IN THE SKARCH
i fricking loved skarch posting. it was stupid as hell and had barely any legs but just saying skarch makes me lol
I do enjoy that there was a period of time where people would watch anything with Aiden Gillen in it and meme the hell out of his scenes. Problem is he mainly does a bunch of artsy independent films that would bore Cinemaphile so they lost interest fast. Skarch probably only happened because it was an action movie for kids.
Why are "muh gray morality" so fixated on orc killing? There are entire human nations working for Sauron, and Tolkien does humanize them.
Like, in the aftermath of the siege of Helm's Deep Rohan spares Dunlending captives instead of slaughtering them. Or when Frodo and Sam encounter the Haradrim and they contemplate what drove them to this fate. Gray morality fricks completely ignore them and lump together with literal demonic creatures.
Ok, whos mentally disturbed mind came up with this thing?
The star wars series was dear to thee, I see!
>If you have shitposts, now is the time.
