Want proof that manchildren are writing movies now? I thought of this exact same concept when I was 12 and getting into horror movies. I look back the idea with cringe.
There's this spirit that possesses people and forces them to commit suicide in front of others so he can jump to the witness's body and the only way to stop it is to kill someone as horribly as possible with no witnesses or something. I don't know, I spaced out at some point. Also the main character fights the spirit pretending to be her dead junkie mother at the end and thinks she's defeated it and goes back to her simp but it turns out to be an illusion. The spirit rips her mouth open and enters her, then she sets herself on fire in front of her simp, meaning the curse has not been broken and you watched the movie for nothing. It ends with a cheerful song because muh tonal dissonance
Wouldn’t a better ending be to set it up so that the movie watcher witnesses the last suicide so that it implies that they’re now possessed by the spirit and must kill themselves?
There's probably general populace health concerns regarding endings which suggest the viewer has to commit suicide, considering this generation does everything they see repeated on TikTok, that's not unthinkable, a social media fad of suicide with smiles kicking up.
The first time i saw the trailer it had a really unsettling vibe and i thought it was about some sort of plague that was spreading where if you saw someone with the maniacal smile that you would get it too and it would slowly spread across the world infecting people like zombies. As dumb as that sounds that would have been way more interesting than this turd plot.
Only briefly, and she's looking so old, it was sad to see

>the only way to stop it is to kill someone as horribly as possible with no witnesses or something. I don't know, I spaced out at some point
It's kill someone WITH a witness, as it then passes to the witness because they're traumatised from seeing the death.
But it comes out tomorrow. What is you some kinda time traveler
My elderly father sent me the link to the trailer, I'm almost 50 and I thought it looked good. So you might have it backwards. The target audience is the aged.
>it's like their smiling at me but its.....not like a friendly smile
Imagine how sick and deranged in the head you've to be watch something this twisted.
I just remembered there's a scene in the movie where the MC takes out this huge kitchen knife from her sleeve and it sounds like she unsheathes a god damn sword.
>If it just sounded like a dull leather woosh
Its shouldn't make any sound, knifes don't make sounds. Its like when people pick up guns in movies and you hear the clicks and clacks guns don't do that. Why would a gun make a sound from just picking it up? I was watching Punisher Warzone and this annoyed the frick out of me.
I have a sword and a sheath. It makes a sound when i pull it out

The director deserves to be punched in the neck for all the fake jump scares and horrible use of sound. Tone down that screeching, Jesus Christ, didn't help that my theatre turns up the volume like everyone's 90% deaf.
i worked on this movie.
She's a normal woman who gets asked to smile a few too many times from men so she "snaps" and starts killing, she is caught at the end but not shot or anything by a female police officer "I get it lets get you the help you need" last shot of the movie is police officer putting blanket around her and then she does the iconic smile, cut to black
>First scare of the trailer is a person freaking out at something we can't see at all >Hmm, kind of interesting could be scary played right >Next shot is just her doing a stupidass smile trying to be "SPOOKY"
Ya blew it.
Those fricking upside down shots man. Also the psychologist lady in white is Calamity Jane from Deadwood, I kept wondering for half the movie why she looked so familiar.
The girl who keeps getting featured in the trailer only shows up for about five minutes in the beginning, she's the one who passes the curse to the protagonist, quite literally all the other smiles are her delusions. The black guy in prison is the only one who survived the curse because he killed someone, she tracks him down and learns about the smiley spirit.
I haven't seen anything but the posters and they've told me this is another one of those shitty horror films that copies the basic The Ring layout or It Follows, but with a much lamer gimmick.

my new steam avatar
I saw this yesterday and it was fricking moronic.
what's the twist

this sounds like a shitty version of It Follows
I've seen this comparison a lot but I honestly can't remember a thing about It Follows.
basically ghost aids tag
It also seems to have a 7 day component like The Ring. Truly original
Its basically fallen with smiley faces
Gay
That movie with Denzel and John Goodman? that movie was awesome.
>an evil spirit
>simp guy
>dead mother
>evil spirit still alive twist
Goddamn it's sooooooo generiiiiiic
Wouldn’t a better ending be to set it up so that the movie watcher witnesses the last suicide so that it implies that they’re now possessed by the spirit and must kill themselves?
That would actually be a great meta twist and it baffles me that the movie didn’t do something like this.
People wouldn't get it unless it's really blatant.
There's probably general populace health concerns regarding endings which suggest the viewer has to commit suicide, considering this generation does everything they see repeated on TikTok, that's not unthinkable, a social media fad of suicide with smiles kicking up.
That would be an excellent way to thin the herd
I thought it was about all the times women were raped when disgusting pig men told them they should smile more.

Yes.
>Carla from Scrubs is in it
Huh
Only briefly, and she's looking so old, it was sad to see
>the only way to stop it is to kill someone as horribly as possible with no witnesses or something. I don't know, I spaced out at some point
It's kill someone WITH a witness, as it then passes to the witness because they're traumatised from seeing the death.
It came out yesterday in the UK
>No refunds!
These spook me out a little after looking at them for a while
Well you might be the sort of wimp this film is aimed at.
Is that the b***h from Rules of Attraction?
Cuckman tried so hard not to call this movie shit it was funny to watch.
Why is this marketing department desperate enough to have their trailers on podcast ad breaks?
>waaaaa why do people advertise things!!! Waaaaa
Cuz you're a homosexual that's why
>scary people smiling ohhh so scary
This is what makes zoomers shit themselves

>it sounds like she unsheathes a god damn sword
>swords making loud sounds when unsheathed
When will this meme end?
When movies end.
If it just sounded like a dull leather woosh. audiences would hate it.
I'd like to see a film with realistic sound. For example plastic shopping bags and newspapers being extremely loud.
And wooden doors NOT being incredibly loud and creaky but only in a stock way.
guns that don't rattle and click like they were hollow and filled with loose washers and bolts?
>I'd like to see a film with realistic sound.
Guns would deafen the audience and give the protagonist tinnitus.
I have a sword and a sheath. It makes a sound when i pull it out
>If it just sounded like a dull leather woosh

Drawing it out of a scabbard, genius.
Why the frick would a knife be drawn from a scabbard? kek Also a sword being drawn doesn't make that SWIIING!! sound.
Sword, scabbard, dull leather woosh instead of the big metal schwing. Keep up.
schwing
>Once you see it, it's too late
A strong contender for the most unintentionally hilarious poster of all time
Didn't they already do this movie?
They already did this smile thing in Truth or Dare, which was a load of shite
What a terrible film
Anyone else think this was gonna be an adaptation of the classic smile dog creepypasta?
The director deserves to be punched in the neck for all the fake jump scares and horrible use of sound. Tone down that screeching, Jesus Christ, didn't help that my theatre turns up the volume like everyone's 90% deaf.
they made a horror movie about the app?
They never do that at me.
AHHHHHHHH

Anon people here have seen the movie, there's no point making up a fake one
Oh god is that a smile I'm going insaaaaaaaane!
YOU'RE GOING TO DIE
YOU'RE GOING TO DIE
YOU'RE GOING TO DIE
YOU'RE GOING TO DIE
YOU'RE GOING TO DIE
(REPEAT 30X)
Great trailer.
I haven't seen the trailer, but the guy who says this has a very minor role.
Oh you were serious
Top kek
>First scare of the trailer is a person freaking out at something we can't see at all

That trailer managed to get steadily and continuously worse as it went along. Perhaps they should play it in reverse.
I swear I've seen this sort of curse premise in like eight different films now
People having fake smiles with zero sincerity behind them??
Oh noOOO I'M GOING INSA-
Oh wait, it's the the USA.
I haven't seen anything but the posters and they've told me this is another one of those shitty horror films that copies the basic The Ring layout or It Follows, but with a much lamer gimmick.
Medical Masks really fricked people's psyches up huh?
>girl smiles at me
>immediately imagine starting a family and spending the rest of my life with her
>she then kills herself and you end up possessed
>did you were SMILE™
okay
I smile.
