That's a reasonable amount of seasons for a cartoon AND a Star Trek show. Don't fricking dangle the "seven season" standard over my head; You know damn well that TNG dragged near the end and DS9 was loaded with one-off filler near the end. Yeah, THE SHOW ABOUT A GALACTIC WAR.

To be fair, TNG was running at a 26 ep/season rate, LD had been less than half that. And half length episodes besides.

And it's a cartoon. Do you want it to end on a high note or become Sponge Bob's Burgers?

Not when each seasons is only 10 episodes.

To be fair, TNG was running at a 26 ep/season rate, LD had been less than half that. And half length episodes besides.

      >To be fair, TNG was running at a 26 ep/season rate
And also had 40 minute length when LD only has 20.

My consolation is that this hopefully means it will end well, and not as a steaming pile of shit when some ‘geniuses’ get a hold of it down the line.
It’s a good run. And an honorable end.

      True on all counts.

Why do people cry when their shitshows last more seasons than anyone would have expected in the first place? This shit had 5 fricking seasons.

It’s a catch 22. People want more of the thing they like, but don’t realize it’s a monkey’s paw. The longer a show runs the more likely it gets ruined.
Endings are a blessing, not a curse.

Lol, look at all the losers here proudly declaring they never watched it, like its a badge of honor. 5 seasons is a great run, keep seething.

That's even more seasons than what Drawn Together got, so it's more than welcome.

I liked it because it was the closest thing to TNG since TNG. Episode of the week, stuff solved without killing/blowing stuff up, issues that aren't 'big monster' and characters have flaws and personal growth.

I mean many people lost in the desert drank their piss to survive, or slit their own wrists to drink their blood. So, yeah it kinda is. I mean I don't talk about the show or encourage people to see it, it's just decent Star Trek content.

Genuinely funny with actual great action and good call-back to other show that aren't just "remember this".

It's objectively good and only someone who hate star trek as a concept would hate that show.

The episode title "We'll Always Have Tom Paris," the title is one of those jokes. It is literally "remember that?"

Naming your episode after a terrible TNG episode but adding "Tom" because he appears in the episode is "just a joke." That is, counter to your "not just a," line.

The title means nothing with the content of the episode, except for the fact that Tom Paris appears in the episode.

Or do you not recall the terrible first season TNG episode, butchered by the 1988 writer's strike, and only understand the title "We'll Always Have Tom Paris" as a direct reference to Tom Paris and nothing else?

                Anonymous

Lower Decks is genuinely the best Trek going now. Picard 3 was good fan service and Discovery may have figured things out but too late. SNW is pretty good but is losing me with the Xenomorph Gorn. Hopefully everyone gets a wrap to their stories and/or there's a movie to finish things off.

                >Naming your episode after a terrible TNG episode
If you think "We'll always have Paris" is a STNG reference, your opinion is even more worthless than we thought.

NTA, but this isn’t wokeshit. It’s much more in the spirit of old school Trek. Some of that, obviously, is what we’d call progressive but Gene made the setting that way.

If they had balls back then that alien would have been played by a man like Frakes wanted them to be without changing the actual plot. That would have been edgy for the time, hell it would be controversial today!

Many such cases. I get the hyper vigilance though since the corporate tokenism is pretty rife.
I’m convinced Lower Decks being a quirky cartoon side thing is part of why it had the room to be good and so genuinely Trek. Less meddling I bet.
