a free 3d modelling program that someone made for editing character models for the first half-life game. It was for low poly stuff but you could do early skeletal animation (move the 'arm bone' instead of trying to select all the vertices that made up the arm) and if you animated with it you'd get the characteristic flattening/pinching of the elbow vertices as if the arm was a plastic tube.
Neo in Matrix 2 once he gets his stupid pole, is rendered with this level of early 3d bendy crapness

    >The Matrix
Great movie. An almost perfect synthesis of original storytelling and worldvuilding coupled with tight action scenes and new technology
    >The Matrix Reloaded
Okay...ish. Serviceable but not as fresh or awesome as the original. Too much time wasted on things that aren't awesome. Dumbass race scene that appeals to morons that aged like milk.
    >Matrix Revolutions (or whatever the frick it was called)
Absolute dogshit. Did you like Zion and things that aren't cool man doing karate and guns? Well that's most of the movie.

The second movie was good, but its value was contingent on the 3rd movie.. which was a letdown with a bunch of Zion shit and garbage.

Matrix Revolutions is badly underrated. Everything about it has this beautiful fin-de-siècle quality, this sense that everything's coming to an end: a definitive, final end, which just makes the fourth one even more redundant and pointless.

      Anonymous

the fourth one sort of misses the point, that the matrix is a bad thing. it is a direct result of troonys demanding conformity to a new system they rule over

      Anonymous

The grit and desperation in Revolutions was a good departure from the first two where everything's stylish without breaking a sweat. It has a bunch of problems but so do the rest of the sequels

I'm not sure. I got mine years ago from a mega link I think on a 35mm interest forum. That link is almost certainly gone now. The filename I have is "The.Matrix.1999.35mm.1080p.Cinema.DTS.v2.0.mkv" if you want to go digging around.

this 35mm scan has the same problem as the 4K remasters, missing the green tint. the agents have green fricking suits because green is the color scheme of the matrix. smith is meant to have a black suit when he separates from the mainframe. color was so vital to the films and the remasters literally fricked it up.

        Anonymous

If they never put the green tint in until later you can't really say it's "missing".

        Anonymous

        >missing the green tint. the agents have green fricking suits because green is the color scheme of the matrix
No. That was only added to the sequels then retconned on subsequent post sequel DVD releases. It's not present on the original film reels or the trailers. If the agents had tinted suits, all the other instances of black items would have fricked up tint due to blanket color correction when digitizing the theater reel scan. It's all consistent because the blacks were consistent. Not even the VHS release had the sickly green or teal tint that was later added, that had a tan cast.

Agreed. There were no green suits.

I watched it like 10 times in the theaters, too. It was my favorite movie by far, and still is today. Prior to the matrix, watching a movie more than once was very rare for me.

            >it's present in all 3 films you lying sack of shit
It is now. That's what I was trying to explain to you. All the movies have been regraded a half dozen times at this point. The original grade a theater goer in 1999 would have seen is very different to what ended up getting released in the trilogy box set in 2004. That's also how you know you're talking to someone who never saw the movie in theaters. Kind of like the millennials and zoomers who shit on moviegoers in the past for not "getting" bladerunner when it came out in 1982 not realizing that what they know as bladerunner post final cut is a far cry from the state it was in when it originally hit theaters.

Honestly enjoy reloaded just because it feels like it's mostly a payoff for the build up of Neo becoming "the one" in the first film. Plus the impending sense of doom with Smith, left enough tension in the plot that it was interesting to see a messiah embrace the role and then potentially still lose

That shot in particular has been criticized since the movie came out, I'm fairly certain. If they made it again today though I don't think they'd get it much better. CGI still looks like that.

The whole trilogy is good, and "only the first one is good" is a meme because people were too moronic to understand what was going on.

We got to see two directors, siblings, make a trilogy blockbuster with an original IP. Learn to appreciate a good thing.
Even if we entertain that the last 2 films were bad, that's the risk of letting creators do their thing and try new things. Sometimes they miss the mark. Don't complain about homogenized schlop if you put that expectation on films.
You get schlop because you want schlop. Chow down piggy.
