Movies About Liars

Anyone else like this genre? I love it when a movie is about a liar, either a scheming one or a pathological one.

This is a great one. A good one I saw a while ago was The Nest. Jude Law plays a guy who is constantly lying to his family about their finances and spending money they don't have.

Sounds like fun, I'll check it out. Like most of Cinemaphile I loved Nightcrawler. Matchstick Men is another one I was fond of.

Awkward or uncomfortable embarrassing scenes just trigger me and make me cringe and super anxious. I don't know why. I paused and skipped scenes a lot when I watch Frasier episodes sometimes entire episodes.

Here's the plot of one episode of Peep Show. Roommates Mark and Jez meet two women in a bar out in the country and get invited onto their canal boat. However when leaving the bar the accidentally run over the women's dog. They try to burn the body but it just gets kind of scorched. Later when they're on the canal boat Mark finds out Jez put the dead half roasted dog in his backpack so no one would find it. The women discover the dog and Jez tries to pretend it's actually roast turkey by taking a bite out of a leg and tries to get Mark to go along with it. I've only seen a few episodes because I get secondhand cringe.

It interesting how he manipulates with weakness rather than strength. The part when he's crying and trying to guilt Peter Sarsgaard's character by implying he might kill himself is so stomach turning.

The scene in the classroom plays in my head literally every day of my life. That is the essence of the social media generation and its grandiose self delusion. A person sees himself as a brilliant teacher, but is speaking to an empty classroom.

SG is kino. Dear Evan Hansen is also great, the musical not the film. I always start panicking when they start being found out.
