I would feel greater sense of isolation if the character actually felt and was affected by that isolation. From the beginning to the end he acts, quips and solves every problem the same way. He's hardly a character in the book. There's exactly one moment where his shtick even feels inspired.
It’s even more of a story in the book. Takes effort to contact NASA, takes effort to get on the ship at the end even if it was clearly manufactured drama. So again, the book is better. It improves nothing. I never said it was Tolstoy.

It takes effort to do everything he does in the film. "More effort, More Shit to do but the character is clearly unaffected by it in any meaningful way" is not an improvement.

That gay is bullshitting. The book is 100% repititive because it was written as a series of blogposts(and then he used the audience to fix the inaccuracies in his stories as well use them for new ideas) and then compiled into a book.
