Worst offender I can remember: Goldeneye. Trevelyan falls over 1000 foot onto concrete and goes Oof.
Dredd did it okay. The guys who got dropped went splat.

didnt some lady fall like 13000 feet and somehow survive?
Peggy Hill
She landed in a pile of snow several feet thick and at an angle that absorbed the fall. In spite of all that she still broke nearly every bone in her body.

My high school US history teacher said he saw a guy jump off a hangar and he basically cracked down the middle. Its unsettling that he used to word "cracked"
PAYASA SEXO
I've seen some jumper suicide videos and they mostly look like the first one.
You need something like a 1500f (450m) fall to get close to terminal vel.
This means the top of the empire state building.
>Worst offender I can remember: Goldeneye.
>We should make our pg 16 movie to pg 18+ cause gore fetishists cant jerk off otherwise
Please explain to me why is it so important to have accurate 'falling to death' scenes
>We should make our pg 16 movie to pg 18+ cause gore fetishists cant jerk off otherwise
Okay, worst offender was a bad way to put it, because it doesn't make the movie worse. I just mean it's the least realistic depiction of that I've ever seen. Almost comically so. He literally goes Oof and is still conscious and then he only dies when the Arecibo dish collapses right into his onions face.
>We should make our pg 16 movie to pg 18+ cause gore fetishists cant jerk off otherwise
Use the techniques of cinema. Just cut away and show blood splattering. You don't have to actually show a broken eggshell head with pudding brains on the floor.
>Please explain to me why is it so important to have accurate 'falling to death' scenes
Because a lot of movies have brutal death scenes yet they rarely choose to depict falling particularly brutally. It's jarring, not in a single movie that's PC, but the fact that you see it movie after movie after movie.
The majority of people who die from falls don't die because they explode in a shower of viscera, but from internal injuries. That's what the coughing up blood is.
Trevelyan wasn't gonna get up and brush himself off. He was gonna die shortly after. The flaming wreckage of the antenna coming down on him just sped up his inevitable death.
the movie Terminal Velocity suggests they bounce.
whoever made this hasn't seen enough liveleak, it only looks like second if they don't land on something flat
>Worst offender I can remember: Goldeneye.
When has a James Bond movie ever been accurate?
characters in movies rarely fall from 1000 foot, and even if you jump from 1000 foot, you don't reach free fall peak velocity
so, if you fall from 100 foot your body is a lot less damaged than if you fall fom 1000 foot
Dredd did it great though
Midsommar did a decent job
That shit was so gross
Shame it took something like an hour of sheer fricking boredom to get there
I don't even notice this shit when I'm watching something
>noooooo why doesn't the moobie have hyper realistic gore for me to fap to
cause its a fricking movie.
>character dies from hitting water to fast
water is literally so soft it's a liquid, no one is dying from that
If you're travelling faster than 17 mph there's no difference between water and concrete.
heres a difference for you einstien: water is liquid and concrete is solid
>surface tension is a israeli psyop
Gonna remind myself of this anytime a Cinemaphile moron blurts out a conspiracy theory
Surface tension is not relevant here.
It's the only thing that's relevant.
do a belly flop from a 33 ft diving platform and post the video
so if i run 17mph i can run on water?
Yep.
If you have the necessary force down on every step while being able to lift instantly as you touch the surface, yes. That window between your foot hitting the surface and you having to lift up is so short that it's basically impossible though.
Yes, that's how boats work without sinking
17mph? Give me a break.
>traveling through desert with pack of concrete
>start running backwards at -17 mph and drink it for hydration
If you're falling fast enough the impact exerts enough energy that it phase changes into ice for a fraction of a second, but long enough to severely injure you.
>highly energetic interaction causes water to drop temperature
let me guess it quantumly knew it was being hit too fast so it consciously decided to become ice to protect itself? god nu physics is stupid and gay
Wrong
Watch the doco “The Bridge”, you’ll see…
bait
Your skin is elastic enough to explode on impact however your insides become jelly.
Skin splits if it's hit quickly. It's only elastic if stretched slowly. That's why boxers get cuts from punches. There's plenty of gore pics of people who fell out of high rises on the internet. Beyond a certain height your head will crack like an egg and your brains will splatter out, and your torso will burst like a sack and your guts will come out.
>flies trickle out of mouth
how horrifying
I feel like the unnecessary inclusion of terminal velocity means you dont actually know what it means
It's absolutely necessary. A low velocity fall wouldn't do that sort of damage.
why didnt you just say high velocity then? terminal velocity refers to the cessation of acceleration and is not the only point at which you'd splatter
Because it's the easiest way to say "the maximum velocity you can go at in Earth's air pressure at sea level" without being an autistic moron?
that scene was filmed at a real observatory so it isnt hard to look up the exact dimensions, it was only 150 meters high which is only 1/3rd the height needed to reach terminal velocity, so that alone makes the op question rather stupid
but i do discount points for he straight down very small splat landing when they could have made a much more kino shot of letting his body slide along the edges and then die when falling into the central opening
THERE GOES MY HERO
you thinkin what im thinkin?
Aim for the bushes?
Ack!
They call it street pizza for a reason
ONCE UPON A TIME
>this used to be literally internet hitler
>now every website is content stealing/farming
>where's your le heckin spliffated brain MUH SCIENCE
She should repeat the experiment but falling on concrete instead of car.
Jack's Joker in Batman 89 was pretty bad. I think he cracked the concrete but his body was basically intact
Martin Sheen's death in the Departed was pretty good
The one in The Departed always catches me off guard
