    >Changing the clandestine into inhumans and removing the inhuman name just so you can call a Pakistani character a djinn and pretend it's incorporating her culture
That's so fricking dumb. I hope they bring in the proper inhumans because there is no good reason to not just play the djinn thing straight. Even if this is a lie it's still fricked because they are things from another dimension that people saw and just happen to call them djinn. basically marvel took the version of Harlem that you see in sprite and nike commercials and tried to make it asgard. It was really bad. it was like someone tried to write a miles book but they have only ever seen spike lee movies.

Why is the MCU so ashamed of the female form?

cause all the decisionmakers at the MCU have this idea that female beauty needs to be inclusive. Like everyone is beautiful as long as they have screen time.

There was a lot of complaints but it was half people saying djinns were demons and half people not liking it because of it's a stereotype. Though I have her Djinn can be good or bad. It's probably regional.

If the situation was reversed and there was this large, cinematic universe primarily taking place and inspired by Pakistani and Indian culture, and 12~ years in to this saga they introduce a white, christian character only to immediately frick around and reveal that character is secretly a cambion or nephilim, a shit ton of Christian audiences would be pissed off too. Because it's the most tone depth mockery of the culture you can get, and you can't tell if it's done out of ignorance, condescension, or Christophobia.

Doing the Djinn fake out at all rather than just introducing her as an Inhuman is dumb. It's the narrative equivalent of key jangling

you know it is pretty fricked up that she could just be descended from some made up race of super people and be ethnically and raised as a Muslim like in the comics instead of coming up with this Djinn crap that hyper focuses on her ethnicity and culture and fetishizes it and also gets it wrong.

Nobody liked the show, even people who liked some of the characters didn't like the show, but a lot of people, a ton more than those that bothered knowing about the show's existence, thought Black Bolt was neat in MoM. I doubt they'll get their own title movie, but I'm sure that characters like Black Bolt will be likely to show up as supporting characters, probably around the time of the Fantastic Four movies.

Black bolt died like a stupid b***h.
Show sucked first world wide appearance of the character made him an evil spineless imbecile.

Inhumans sucked because it was a casualty of Feige's egomaniacal spat with Ike in addition to Scott Buck being there. It would have been fine with more time and better writing. I don't know why they spent money getting Ramsey Bolton and I kind of wish they went for a lesser own C-list actor instead and used that budget to shore up the CGI/plot. There's no reason the Royal Family couldn't be done right with better writing and a capable director.

                > any future potential to br cool.

That's flat out not true. And Inhumans are bigger than the royal family anyways, and the Inhuman storyline was fine prior to the miniseries

Inhumans are too old and dumb as a concept unless they lean heavy into the cos.ic horror and mystic side.

The show and movie ruined it for an entire generation of movie goers.

Many things in the MCU would have been better if they leaned into the cosmic horror and mystic side, not just the Inhumans. The only aspect of the MCU that has done that even slightly has been the TV shows.
                >The show and movie ruined it for an entire generation of movie goers.
You're being hyperbolic. That's like saying Thor's character was ruined because of Thor 2 or the abomination that was his Endgame arc. Yeah, those are dark marks to be sure but nothing a good sequel can't help draw attention away from. Plus with MoM Wanda needed villains to fight. Alt Blackbolt is just one of those people

                Thor is ruined.
Any potential he had as the mcus LoTR Superman was tossed out so they could sell him as masturbation material and to shill Alonzos Karen haired bulldyke captain marvel.

Tge show and movie appearances ruined the concept. I say this was done on purpose.

The inhumans as a concept don't work without going horror and cosmic. I honestly can't fathom the inhumans working as anything but that.

By the way, captain marvel was part of the illuminati because they wanted dyke superman and didn't want people thinking about black bolt in those terms even though he should be the next logical choice.

Quake, Yoyo, Pikachu, Joey Gutierrez, Jiaying, Gordon, Lash, and Hive were all fine Inhuman characters. All of them had very different and very unique reactions to Terrigenesis and their arcs reflected that. And their show was often played with psychological horror, from being trapped in a nightmare hell dimension to very literal fatalism/being stuck in a timeloop, to struggling with the idea about whether these powers are a gift or a curse. Their show even did what Kamala's is trying to do and directly link matters of faith and religion into how they view these powers, but unlike Kamala's show it was well executed. Turns out all you need to do to make a fledgling superhero show work is inject just the right amount of angst, believable character writing, and psychological horror and you got yourself a show. I fail to see why this couldn't be done in a soft reboot capacity for the Royal Family.

                >By the way, captain marvel was part of the illuminati because they wanted dyke superman and didn't want people thinking about black bolt in those terms even though he should be the next logical choice.
When specifically was this? Because around CW2 Marvel Comics was aggressively pushing Carol for whatever reason, but I always got the impression that was done to make her Marvel's flagship character, not to replace Blackbolt

It's a joke. His actual name is Lincoln and he has electricity powers. He had a pretty decent character and arc, and his actor was great. Some people who knew his character referred to him as Pikachu, or White Static Shock.

                >You lot get random powers randomly, through puberty or trauma, whatever, because frick it, we're too lazy to figure out your origins
The Inhumans do it better in my because the process to gain their powers is actually fricked up and they play it straighter with people actually not liking or questioning what they've become, as opposed to the mutants who are "You have powers, you are special and you should like it, also people will just hate you because you're different for some reason, but believe us, vegana Breath Boy, you're better off as what you are now."

X-gays just need to learn to share the stage with others, you'd think they'd have learned that when the Avengers utterly mogged them back when the MCU exploded, but it seems like they're going to want to be the special snowflakes of the MCU, too.

beside DD being created like that from the start, Daredevil is a catholic dressed as a devil, he's not a literal devil. With Ms Marvel it's more like "ehhh... what do we know about arabs? aladdin? yeah it had djinn, right? how about we make ms marvel a djinn, just because?". It's hard to tell what exactly they're going for, given that the explanation has changed slightly with every episode. But the line they had about "If Thor had fallen in the Himalayas, he would have been considered a Djinn" basically opens them up to being anything at all. Whether we get some further clarification, or whether this is just code for "we can decide to make Kamala an Inhuman somewhere down the line" is unclear. It feels like the show still has more details on this front to reveal.

That's not how it works, it just means that Feige can use any property he wants, he's just done more to put Black Bolt out there in the mainstream with positive reception and notoriety than Ike did during his whole push, it's less of Ike's loss and more of Feige's win because the setting can be expanded further.

Halfway through episode 4, and I can't get over how fricking boring this show is. If you couldn't make episodes 45-60 minutes without nonsense from 87 family members I don't care about or constant "LOOK, HINDU CULTURE" montages, than maybe just settle for shorter episodes. Just don't brand yourself a superhero show when it's really Awkward Family Reunion Simulator.

I see all the marvel fans are flattering themselves that this is a show with meaningful things to say about Colonialism and the Partition of India. Does it really do this or do they just have a character spout a Wikipedia summary and the ignorant viewers think this is deep and authentic insight?

Why wasn't Kamala stoned for not wearing hijab in Pakistan?

Lmao this show has plenty of lines shitting on the British for colonialism, but doesn't dare touch any non-PC aspects of islamic and middle-eastern culture

Pakistan isn't even in the middle east.

This is what happens when you have all these communities babbying racists and edgy new atheist reddit bros thinking they're clever for second guessing "PC" when they don't know the first fricking thing about what they're dunking on.

It'd blow your mind if you found out that until 50 years ago, if anything, the Muslim world was comparatively less intolerant on certain things. Gay men used to go to Morocco because at the time, while it was still homophobic, there wasn't an active inquistion there like there was at the onset of McCarthyism.

And of course, in the same place Ms. Marvel just was, Hijra/Khusra used to be at least somewhat more accepted/respected than they are now.

Sometimes it turns out you really are just some dumbfrick on the internet and you don't have to second guess every "progressive" narrative just to feel big.

I can’t really take this claim seriously. After the 50s is when those countries gained independence and asserted themselves in the world against the West. The non-aligned movement was big in Islamic countries, Nasser was a symbol for the rest of the Islamic world for independence from the West, especially after they won the Suez Crisis (1956), the Arab League (1945), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (1969), the popular native Iranian / Islamic Revolution against the Western backed Shah (1978). You can even see this happening in Turkey now, where they’re introducing homophobic laws Eva use of a revival of traditional Islamic and Turkish values, as a rejection against the Western modernization which Ataturk started. Can you in any way justify saying “These countries didn’t have agency”?

    >use the clandestine but change everything including them being Djinn
    >have pointless Djinn fakeout and act like it has some cultural connection only to have another character say one episode say that it has nothing to do with mythological Djinn
For what purpose? The villains origins and powers seem almost entirely OC so why involve the Destines? Its not like they are well known enough to draw in viewers.

That seems needlessly convoluted. Fricking hell it would have been easier to just say they were on the moon. The Kree shit just overcomplicates an already complicated origin.

They obviously altered their backstory to differentiate them from the mutants so now the Inhumans are more like transdimensional beings, I don't think it's that convoluted although it's a bit similar to Shang Chi's mom's race.

Between the mystical kung fu city from Shang Chi and the Clandestines being villains who just want to go home, it feels like they just lifted the villains' plotline from Defenders.
The Hand leadership were just Kun Lun exiles trying to get back.

I wouldn't go that far but at least the Hand had some motivation for their urgency. The health decay and the time sensitive nature of the Kun Lun/Black Sky shit, and so on.

              The Clandestine are like
              >Kamala we've finally found you, aren't you glad you're found the people you belong with? Aren't we all nice?
              >Ok now help us go home

Maybe the reason for it all is they want a big "plot twist" for the show. Like "Whoa these Djinns actually weren't magical beings, they're genetic experiments by aliens!" even though that's how it always was in the comics.

    >a regular human can fight them to a standstill
    >can be killed by a literal regular human teenager with daggers
I am seriously asking this, but are we supposed to take Clandestine as an actual threat? Even the Flagsmashers were stronger than them. Sorry to be a powerlevelgay, but all this talk about them "being interdimensional beings" raised my expectations, but as of now there's really no reason why some rando with a gun couldn't take them out. For example, that guard. If he had a pistol instead of that sonic weapon, he would've just killed all of them right there and then. A literal random nobody prison guard could've taken that out. And Kamala, who's going to be in a feature movie soon and join the Avengers, can't fight them?

The problem with Clandestine's presentation is that it makes it really hard for me to believe Kamala will be able to take on major villains like Kang when she literally is having trouble with four people who... apparently just have regular human strength?

But "djinn" also evokes the image of magic/elemental power. All Clandestine can do is just punch. Not even super strength punches, just regular punches.

In a few months, The Marvels is going to come out and show Kamala teaming up with Carol to take on a galactic threat. Don't you think that's a wildly huge step up from Clandestine?

I don't think it's her powers. It just feels like they're making a similar mistake that was made with her books. People liked Kamala when she was a goofy teenage hero who was just fricking around doing goofy teenage hero stuff in her home city with her scooby-squad of friends. It had its dramatic moments, but it was mostly played as a comedic cartoon. Pic related is from when her and her friends entered a levitating shark into an inter-school science fair. But Marvel wanted to do more with her, and she got involved with bigger story lines, joined hero groups with a different tone, things started to get overly dramatic, blah, blah. The fun cartoony teenage-level stuff mostly went away.

The show is running into some of the same problem. Kamala and a lot of the supporting characters are suitably quirky and fun, but they've been dropped into a plot that keeps getting more and more dramatic with each passing episode. There was relatively little "fun" in this most recent episode, which feels like a problem for a character who was originally beloved for being "fun".

the only bad Kamala run is Magnificient where they sent her to fricking space and we didn't get any teenage drama so I'm cautious about any space stuff in the show, when she's teaming up with Carol space is ok but not for her solo series. the show itself is ok but I want muh grounded plots like Zoe coming out and Red Dagger fighting water cartels.
