>im sick of this genuine pseudo video essay era of james.
Even in the "classic" era, his best videos were the ones that didn't force the humor and just were good overviews like Pong Consoles and Swordquest. Funny videos were good if James was pulling from his own remembered frustrations as a kid like with Dick Tracy. The Screenwave era was just him forcing shitty "anger" humor on games that weren't even that bad.
>Pong Consoles
is only funny because james makes quips and commentary over how asinine 70s boomer tech is >Swordquest
is only funny because james used to be a genuine good actor that could write a good scene for how someone in the 80s could play swordquest.
The actual info dump has far been surpassed by people like Gaming Historian. nuAVGN video essay shit reeks of 2010s youtuber shit like ironically the Completionist. But lets face it, its less that and more James trying to capture the lightning in the bottle that was the Castlevania retrospective.
Mike recorded the gameplay for the old avgn episodes 2006-2012 or so.
Then he left to do live streaming on his own. Since then many AVGN episodes have lifted game footage from Mike’s streams. James isn’t much of a gamer. The scripts are written from Mikes gameplay and live streams and always have been.
Mike probably wrote it. Because all the gameplay is from Mike’s streams. How can James write a detailed review of a game if he hasn’t played it in 30 years? Maybe he just looks at Mikes footage or something but the gameplay is 100 percent from Mikes live streams
I know you truthers are out to get James for everything while sucking Mike's wiener, but let's give James some credit here. He said in an old video that this is one of his favorite games, so it's not like he just watched Mike's stream and wrote a script based on that.
I'm sure James wrote the episode. And Mike probably wrote parts of it with him. The gameplay is all Mike's though which should not be a surprise. Mike has been recording the gameplay for AVGN sine the first season.

I get excluding twitch and tiktok people because you can't watch them on your TV without contorting yourself. The YT shows are on an app in between Max and Peawiener on my Roku. Some of them have multiple editors, writers and camera guys.
He didn't play Earthbound as a kid, but he incorporated that into his video. He did play FFIII/VI as a kid (Mentioned in his Genesis vs Super Nintendo video) but didn't finish it.
No. You're talking to Cinemaphile, not Cinemaphile.
Always do the opposite of what Cinemaphile says and always think the opposite of what Cinemaphile thinks. Theyre unironically a collection of fedora wearing neckbeards rejected from Reddit for being so contrarian that they hated EVERYTHING that even one other person had so much as heard of, let alone enjoyed.
FF6 and CT are both universally regarded as masterpieces for a reason.
>collection of fedora wearing neckbeards rejected from Reddit for being so contrarian that they hated EVERYTHING that even one other person had so much as heard of, let alone enjoyed
Literally Cinemaphile
idk if this is an abhorrent opinion, but isnt it kind of ironic someone tries to be a spokesperson for JRPGs and yet has never played a single Pokemon game?
That's an awful fricking take, JRPGs existed long before Pokemon, nothing about Pokemon is particularly groundbreaking from a mechanics perspective, it's just the Dragon Quest template with a shiny coat of paint.
I got FF3 on import and with it running on 50hz I never got to see the ending s the screen went black the music still played though.
I got the PS1 version just to see how it ended,
It's amazing to me AVGN was good for like ~3 years almost 20 years ago and people have spent the past 15 years talking about how much he sucks now and he used to be good (for a very short time 2 fricking decades ago). Fricking bizarre.
The first burn out was when the quality noticeably started to decline, then the AVGN movie took out whatever soul was left in James. He should have moved on to making his films but he stuck with AVGN. I got to give it to content creators like PewDiePie, they've made so much money and have such a large fanbase that he can do whatever he wants now.
>but he stuck with AVGN.
He had a family to feed and AVGN was his only guaranteed source of income. Not saying you're wrong, he probably could have made something work with patreon, but he's also kind of moronic and needed someone else to do his thinking for him. He needed an agent.
Is that what the yellow markers are? I don't use an adblock and the most I ever get is an ad or two at the start and maybe one at the end, but most of the time I get none at all. All that yellow does seem crazy excessive, maybe it's a region based thing.
I played FF2 and 3 on the original SNES, and 7 on the PS1
7 sucked, and it was only for brainlets. The only good part of 7 was tifa R34
>7 sucked and no one truly gave a frick >almost 30 years later FF7 remains the most sold title in the entire series despite gaming being 1/50th as popular then as it is now
I will not reply further.
both classics. 9 ability equipment synthesis system makes it the most fun game in the series to get secret gear which every screen is littered with shit to find. its story is also beautiful and doesn't feel its length. combat is meh but every ff game has meh combat. best blue mage in the series. best overall ost.

jesus and i just skipped randomly into and the video and this is where it landed
>It's over.
>If only you knew how bad things really are
is it me or are his glasses getting thicker?
This one wasn't too bad, seemed like James actually wrote it, felt genuine, and the skit was mercifully short.
>felt genuine
im sick of this genuine pseudo video essay era of james. I rather have the Screenwave/Kieran tries to into old AVGN humor jokes back.
>im sick of this genuine pseudo video essay era of james.

The footage is literally from Mike's streams.
is Mike working with James again?
Mike recorded the gameplay for the old avgn episodes 2006-2012 or so.
Then he left to do live streaming on his own. Since then many AVGN episodes have lifted game footage from Mike’s streams. James isn’t much of a gamer. The scripts are written from Mikes gameplay and live streams and always have been.
Says in the description that the Nerd wrote this episode. Mike only provided some gameplay.

Was that Mike as Santa?
So what's the policy on youtubers? Threads like these are never taken down but other youtube episodes are.
>Cinemaphile hall monitor
Either the mod/janny likes it or it gets nuked.
AVGN is a show and beloved movie franchise by famous director and rock star James Rolfe. Don't compare it to other youtubers. They are not the same.
>he expects consistent moderation
Enjoy your ban

>FF6
>Earthbound
What next? Chrono Trigger? Somehow I doubt he played those games as a kid.
>Somehow I doubt he played those games as a kid.
He didn't play Earthbound as a kid, but he incorporated that into his video. He did play FFIII/VI as a kid (Mentioned in his Genesis vs Super Nintendo video) but didn't finish it.
>What next? Chrono Trigger?
he mentions it several times in the video saying its just as good as FF6. One of the most soi /vr/ opinions you can have.
Was Chrono Trigger that bad?
Like all entry level media, its not bad, but has glaring flaws to an actual veteran.
What are some flawless or close to flawless games according to a veteran like yourself?
idk. I just repeat what autistic shit i read on /vr/.
No. You're talking to Cinemaphile, not Cinemaphile.

Lmao even. It's shit.
>filtered by Zozo
Couldn’t be me
And yeah, I know people liked his Earthbound video, but he's the last guy who could willingly play jrpgs.
idk if this is an abhorrent opinion, but isnt it kind of ironic someone tries to be a spokesperson for JRPGs and yet has never played a single Pokemon game?
That's an awful fricking take, JRPGs existed long before Pokemon, nothing about Pokemon is particularly groundbreaking from a mechanics perspective, it's just the Dragon Quest template with a shiny coat of paint.
On a podcas he said when he was a kid he played ff6 and when he reached kefka tower he lost the save and went into tard rage in the forest
NO i don't want him to talk about this. It is too good for his zoomer eceleb gimmick ass
BLEH

Metal as frick. Sorry nerds can’t handle a few power chords
Le quirky israelite producer man.
I dont have the time for this
Why not?
You all are manchildren for enabling and caring about this moron
It must suck to get trapped in a persona you created years ago because you have no other way to put your kids through school.
Plaigarist.
>watching a certified moron giving his opinions on things
lmao, no thx
No Rex Viper. No watch.
What is Cinemaphiletants opinion on Rex Viper?
Saw them on a side stage of Ozzfest in 02 They could shred and their econoline van was stuffed with barely legal pussy.
That was a weird era.
AVGN Christmas specials peaked with the 12 days of shitmas, it's so good I watch it yearly.
THAT WAS 10 YEARS AGO
I hate video games and “nostalgia” for them who still watches this shit
t. pol tard
Let's face it, you're just a chinless contrarian.
I got FF3 on import and with it running on 50hz I never got to see the ending s the screen went black the music still played though.
I got the PS1 version just to see how it ended,
>Final Fantasy 3
I hate americans so fricking much
>It says 3 instead of 6
That's the joke, aspie
>i hate americans because uhhhh a Japanese businessman decision.
is he not supposed to call it ff3 when the box hes holding in his hand says ff3?

Great feelgood episode to end the year on. Looking forward to seeing what he does for the 20th next year.

>"This was actually a feelgood episode"
Opinion discarded
>FF3
absolute slog of a game to get through.
Is James the next Chris Watts?
I hate this shit shirt he's worn the past couple of years.
I might be half a moron but was that a mike cameo as Santa?
>playing a 30 year old game is a bucket list item for a 40 year old manchild
>hurf durf why is the bucket list item on a retro vidya game show related to a retro vidya i dun geddit
frick off bimmy
you lost
Chrono Trigger is way better. In fact, FF6 is pretty much dogshit compared to that.
Terranigma mogs all SNES RPG's.
i mean he basically spends a minute in the video acknowledging chrono trigger was better
>snore trigger
no
Sure, CT is better, but come on man, both are great.
This shit is just sad and pathetic
He’s cute when his tardness shows
>no time to get up from the couch
Reddit slop thread
When truthers are contained in one thread it improves the board quality though. You'll notice there's a lot less pro-troony and BBC spam for example.
>improves the board quality
Yes. Keeping manchildren fixated on the proverbial e-celeb gossip carrot improves actual film discussion.
For you.

Amazing

Yep, another Cinemassacre classic
You just know he wrote it
FF3/6 was the best FF of the 90s. Sorry, but 7 sucked and no one truly gave a frick about 'flower girl' dying
>t. zoomer reinvisioning history
Having beaten 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, 7 was the only FF of the 90's that mattered.
I'm 37 homosexual.

I have them mixed in with my Jarbo and Liquid, they're fun songs. The salt is just a Brucie bonus.
Best episode he's done in years
9 > 11 > 6 > 10 > 7 > 5 > i stop caring past this point
haven't played 9 or 11
9 is one of the best for sure. 11 is online. Can you even play that anymore?
both classics. 9 ability equipment synthesis system makes it the most fun game in the series to get secret gear which every screen is littered with shit to find. its story is also beautiful and doesn't feel its length. combat is meh but every ff game has meh combat. best blue mage in the series. best overall ost.
