This. I enjoyed it, and I think most will agree that there are a number of racist cops in this world, but Baltimore is also a majority black city. And most of the outrange that should be directed at cops for corruption and abuse of authority should be done by blacks and whites together but it usually just devolves into racial arguments while nothing ever gets changed.
And in a city as overrun with drug use and gun violence as Baltimore, if you can show you’re consistently taking drugs and guns in seizures I’m sure you can get away with a lot.

My dealings have been mostly pleasant too, but one or two times I've been spoken to with an air of suspicion for being out late at night. It's a pretty scary and uncomfortable feeling, even as an adult. I'm not an angry person, but I can see how for people that are, being put in a position of discomfort could turn to resentment.

It felt so contrived and preachy. The "good guys" take the word of drug dealers and criminals as fact when dealing with police misconduct. They use the Gun Trace scandal to smear the entire department. They imply black people don't talk to cops because all cops are like the GTTF criminals, when in Simon's own previous shows black people don't talk to cops for fear of retaliation from the neighborhood. Obviously Simon has cop friends and he didn't want to smear every single one with his 'frick 12' soapbox scenes. But his "good cop" scenes are laughable. They arrest a drug dealer and not only does he go peacefully without a word of protest, he even admits to the drugs they find on him, really?!
You should watch the ~~*VICE*~~ News story they did on the cops. They wanted the viewer to feel bad for some jig who got a few grand taken off him and was running a drug house with his kids home and made it seem like they took his rent money kek
They pretty much implied in the show the cops murdered a drug dealer because they stole his money and he couldn't pay a debt so other criminals killed him. HE'S A FRICKING DRUG DEALER! He would have ended up murdered regardless.

Then read a review that was something like it's a series built by rage and so lacks all the finesse and humanity Wire had. Cops bad, hood rats good. I think it was written by a black guy, which is why he could actually express an opinion.
I agree that it's no The Wire but the message isn't "Cops bad, hood rats good".

The dialogue is pretty bad in this show. Every line feels like a table read or a 1st or 2nd take. Plus they have stupid lines like: "I work HVAC, you know heating and air conditioning"
