Yes. Acting by Yeoh was great. Inventive. Funny with heart. This movie is what movies should be: wild escapism.
Everything everywhere all at once is a really good film that was very well done. It had a simple premise executed amazingly. Anybody who disagrees is a mentally ill moron. I liked both the mom and the dad leads and the relationship was genuinely really sweet. I can empathize with the daughter and her listlessness with life and distance from her mother. The way that she was able to tap into her alternate lives abilities was creative and interesting. This film also blows Doctor Strange and the multiverse of moronation out of the water
Actually true. There were some bits that weren't necessary (why the fascination with dildos, why did the big existential terror have to be a fricking bagel?), but I laughed hard at the dog being used as a weapon, and the sausage finger monkeys screaming at the sun.

It's a movie with a lot of soul, but that soul is buried behind a lot of shitty low-tier memes and jokes that really detract from the experience. Also it's longer than it should be.
It's like a cross between The Matrix and kung fu Hustle, but without Stephen Chow's flair for making the comedy land.
>It's like a cross between The Matrix and Kung Fu Hustle, but without Stephen Chow's flair for making the comedy land.
Honestly don't get why people say this when the action scenes are a really small part of the film (not to mention, they're not even done that well).
And holy shit, Everything wishes its whacky humour was as effective as Chow's. None of the dildo and butt plug gags are as funny as Chow turning into a giant microwave to melt evil Robocop in The 60 Million Dollar Man.
>Honestly don't get why people say this when the action scenes are a really small part of the film (not to mention, they're not even done that well).
It's not because of the action itself, although kung fu fights are part of it. It's more the concept of a person being awoken to a reality larger than the world around them, and "downloading" new skills into their brain to make them better in combat
>it's a movie about generational struggles with the main conflict being about the villain being cynical >villain is probably a college student >movie is more or less about parents dealing with children growing up, becoming independent and then said child coming back with newfound information discovered while independent
Stop expecting every character in a movie to be hyper rational geniuses. Bias and pretense are parts of humanity too.
It's very cringe movie. Really there is no better word to describe this thing. "Straight to streaming" movie. I suspect there was some nefarious marketing campaign behind this little project but who knows.
I really enjoyed it. Not all of the humor landed with my but my it did with a lot of people I know. Even if the jokes don't work, it ubironically has soul and an optimistic message instead of typical nihilistic Hollywood trash
I've seen a lot of shit, but it's rare that I genuinely HATE a movie. This is one of them. Just utter nonsense and "LOOK HOW WACKY AND RANDUM WE ARE". Literally painful to watch.
>predictable >hmm a laundromat owner visiting the IRS to deal with her taxes? Clearly she's going to be visited by a dimensional traveller then a kung fu battle will break out
i watched it with no prior knowledge of what it's about besides an old asian woman, it was the best time i had in a theatre in years.
i watched the trailer a few days after and it was horrible, honestly i think that it ruins the movie to even see that trailer before watching it.
I liked it a lot. The main elements like an older woman stuck in her ways, a gay daughter looking for acceptance, a complacency driven midlife crisis etc have all been done many times but it all worked together really well. The crazy sci-fi shit is fun too but I liked the family stuff a lot more. I actually teared up with the mother daughter scene at the end.
If this just stared a white guy it would be one of the worst rated movies on the planet. It's literally just a 2 hour episode of Rick and Morty yet somehow even more reddit. The Russo brothers need to be hung for their crimes against cinema
It was a better multiverse movie than strange, with so much soul, things you take for jokes in the middle get wrapped and expanded masterfully in the end
It's an artistically empty movie that gets by superficially pandering to adolescent sensibilities through le quirky twee cinematography complete with gimmicky one takes. The perfectly focus group crafted consoomer monument for the fedoracore IMDB reddit generation.
>noisy QUIRKY ART FILM AESTHETIC poster >whacky plaid costume for the LE NIHILISTIC AND HUMOROUS twitter letterboxdtroonycore antagonist >McDonald's gnostic Rick and Morty existentialism to be SO FRIGGIN DEEP MAN >ugly unrelatable "LE EPICALLY AUTHENTIC" talentless cast for PC points.
The last 30 minutes of this trash was so painful, I was squirming in my seat snarling "LE TOP KEK REDDIT MAYMAY" at my monitor and threw a teacup at the wall. If you like this A24 trash you're simply not in the right place.
Yes it's good. You can't help but feel that it should have been great and it isn't but it is good.
Swiss Army Man was great, but this one tries too hard to appeal to normies with reddit humor and action that goes on and on when short and sweet would have worked for better and reduced the bloated runtime.
But it is a good movie worth seeing. Even for just the glorious return of Shortround to acting.
Best part was the kung fu dimension gradually becoming the Wong-Kar Wei dimension and Shortrounds very effective speech about positivity being how he fights.
It's a shame they couldn't land Awkwafina for the daughter like they wanted to. The girl in the movie does a fine job but the part really called for a little more natural charisma and Awka woulda nailed the glitchy walk/combat style.
Yeah it was hilarious

No it's reddit
Reddit:The Movie
Interesting end, but very sad.
LOL HE HAS TO SHOVE SOMETHING UP HIS ASS TO GAIN POWERS
LMAO THEY HAVE SAUSAGES FOR FINGERS AND EJACULATE MUSTARD FROM THEM
literally ruins it
>be le heckin kind the world will be ok if we are all heckin kind to each other
>college student level cheap pretentious cynicism
frick this garbage

The FRICKEN XoOmIeS are saying that this is the movie of their fricken generation
Dragged on a whole lot.
I've seen a lot of shit, but it's rare that I genuinely HATE a movie. This is one of them. Just utter nonsense and "LOOK HOW WACKY AND RANDUM WE ARE". Literally painful to watch.
i imagine Rick and Morty fans loved this pile of dogshit
i laughed pretty hard at the fact that in huge sausage finger land the women were lesbians lol
this movie is the biggest chud filter in recent history
yeah sure the sexual humour was dumb but some people take it way too personal
nothing really gripped me about. kind of boring and predictable while trying extremely hard not to be.

Every plot from now on will revolve around LGBTQ acceptance.

Frick the newbie tryhards screeching "reddit" in every thread. It's a fun movie and it's nowhere as pozzed as people say it is.
>newbies think reddit means pozzed
There's a fair bit of semantic overlap.
No, reddit has only meant pozzed recently since all your redditors arrived. When we call a movie reddit we mean it means reddit

No, it sucks. The trailer made it look cringe and woke af. I refuse to watch any reddit movies. Do NOT watch this reddit movie.
It's kino, but it's not *that* kino
It was too much: too much fighting, too much seizure-inducing editing, and too much random humour.
The funniest bit in the whole movie is a recreation of the ape and monolith scene from 2001.
The parents are likeable, the daughter is an edgy lesbian in need of discipline and a hug, the dad is based.
My immigrant-family girlfriend liked it, but she's biased. If you're Asian you'll like it more.
Best movie of the millennium
was pretty funny. except the ending dragged a lot
