    Steven universe:Ending was bad

Steven universe movie: ending was good and ties the series to future decently well enticing people to watch more.

Steven universe future: tries to be bitter sweet. I feel empty at the end of it.

Starvs: tries to be bitter sweet. Everything bends backwards for the main character and ultimately little to no payoff. I mean Steven universe future had little to no payoff but was ok. It didn't feel like I just watched a finale and then feel like it was time wasted. Starvs felt like wasted time

Pan Pizza introduced me to the Loud House and talked about how it was such a great show with a goth e-girl
Years later, the only thing anyone even knows or cares about this show is the goth e-girl because the show itself is an explosively flaming tire fire

Pan was the original creep/degenerate, openly talking about wanting to frick cartoon characters, AND I'm pretty sure he's the one who made PNGtubing popular, I can't recall seeing many YouTubers doing the whole "OC avatar over voice clips" thing before him, he's been doing it since 2010.

Meanwhile Star vs is never coming back. It blew its one shot and will fade into irrelevance as the show that murdered itself.

Steven Universe Future literally ended with them hugging and crying, which is exactly what everyone (both the SJWs who unironically hoped for that and the alt-right who joked that this would be how it ended) expected it to do from the moment it shifted into being a lore show. It's sappy, it's the most Tumblr ending they could have gone with, and they did, and it entirely met expectations.

Star Vs ended with the titular character committing genocide and being rewarded for it, which not a soul on Earth wanted the show to end like that. It was grim for the sake of having a shocking unexpected ending and no one liked it.

Which one do you think is worse, Einstein?

The Star Vs ending sounds superior the way you described it

        Anonymous

Let's put it this way, there are two types of bad endings, a disappointing ending, and an ending so bad that it ruins the entire show. Steven Universe had one of the former, and Star Vs had one of the ladder.

        Anonymous

It does doesn’t it? Unfortunately while Steven end with a bloody wet fart it still wraps up the show okay… Star on the other hand has a fairly cool and interesting ending but at the same time time it’s unbelievably stupid and leaves the series off on a cliffhanger. The last season of Star was an overall mistake but it could have at least ended on a happy note, not a huge pile of What The Frick.

SU endings are serviceable but people expected more yet some people are still fan of the show
Star vs ending was so bad it killed their fanbase

        Anonymous

If by "superior" you mean in "how shitty it is," yes. I certainly would rather a shockingly terribad finale than a lame predicably bad one, but let's not indulge in shitty Gen X "being novel and contrarian is cool and correct." No one wanted Star Vs to end the way it did.

The same way no one wanted Game of Thrones season 8 to turn out the way it did. Yeah, it was godawful in a way that's much worse than the Simpsons' slow burn fadeout, but compare the two. Game of Thrones' last season was so impossibly bad that it erased the show's pop cultural footprint and legacy. People actively try to forget they were fans of the show and at best reminisce about the Red Wedding days.
If you're not a fan, then yeah, it's fun to watch a car crash into a mountain of explosive barrels, but if you are a fan, it's the worst feeling ever to watch your show nearly have it all and then get hakai'd out of existence over some bad missteps.

          >it's the worst feeling ever to watch your show nearly have it all and then get hakai'd out of existence over some bad missteps.

Most fans have no idea what it's like to watch the curtains close rapidly on something you love and the narrative around it to change so totally

          Anonymous

          Differences though:
Simpsons have been going on for 35 years now, and it's a purely episodic show. New episodes don't retroactively affect whatever "lore" there is, and whenever something bad does happen to the show's universe, it's retconned by later writers anyway. Game of Thrones is an actual serialized narrative, not even some lore show but a full visual story. Plus for most normies, it only really started in 2012 because the novels never matter compared to the big screen, so the big rise and fall happened over the course of about 8 years, and the author keeps putting off the final book anyway. At any time, GRRM could finally release Winds of Winter and we could get a "real" season 8 that undoes the damage of the old one.
A better example of a show that got completely fricked over would be

Your criticism of Pan sounded suspiciously reverent of the man.

          and

          >it's the worst feeling ever to watch your show nearly have it all and then get hakai'd out of existence over some bad missteps.

Most fans have no idea what it's like to watch the curtains close rapidly on something you love and the narrative around it to change so totally

's show, The Loudhouse, because that one was just as big as Steven Universe and Star vs circa 2017 but a bunch of bad shit happened to it (bad episodes + creator getting fired for harassment) and literally overnight, it's like the show stopped existing except to get clowned on.
If the Simpsons had been derailed in 1991, maybe it'd be more fitting, but after a certain point once you reach mainstream success, not even time can kill you off. Like how Star Wars is so huge that not even Disney Wars can erase its impact.
We're still talking about Sherlock Holmes and that franchise started in the goddamn 1800s.

Star vs was never going to reach that level or anything, but it seriously could have cemented itself as one of the "greats" of the 2010s, one of the better beanmouth cartoons to come out of the decade. Instead, here it is, languishing in obscurity all because Star is Magic Hitler.

Steven Universe is still remembered as probably "the" Western cartoon of the 2010s. Its ending was bad, but it was exactly what Tumblr and ResetEra wanted, so who cares.

SvtFoE straight up does not exist anymore. The only people who still talk about this show are Zoomers already nostalgic for it (since it's going to be 10 years old soon) and coomers lusting for Femboy Marco and all that's because the finale eviscerated the story and made Star probably the biggest cartoon scumbag in years. You could make a college course in animation school dedicated to Star versus on how NOT to end a show.

Wasn't really just the Star ending, but the entire last season was a boring slog that meandered the whole time without plot or direction. Show probably would have been better off just being cancelled mid production and the viewer just assumes everything went on like that forever with Marco roaming around Mewni with his new friends etc.
