    Superman is just mid
But Harley's is literally just middle aged feminist woman dark fantasies fan fiction
There's no comparison between the two

Harley Quinn at the start was not that bad. It was just Harley and co's unhinged adventures, but then, when the original team was replaced, is when everything went to shit.

Harley is definitely all these things, but Velma is the poster child of middle aged feminist woman dark fantasies fan fiction.

Actual best description of both. MWAS really lived off of lois and once the coom hype died everyone either left it or watched just to finish. I felt S1 of harley show was mid but if you weren't a comic fan it may have been an average adult cartoon. It felt like a show for people that hated comics but new the bare minimum more than a show for the fans. Then S2 came around and I realized the show was getting worse and more basic with each season. So yeah in the end a mid show that at least seems to care about it's audience and doesn't completely hate the source material is 100x better than, someone trying to make a fundamentally different show with a source they don't like and self inserting with a character.

Also I'm always so confused about harley and how she's perceived. I remember I read that one comic where a fat gay black girl helps harley and ivy get away from the cops or something because she was lgbt like her and she felt represented. Not because she was also a villian no she was a normal citizen and somehow wanted to help the two people that have been tearing her town apart. It was a comic that incapsulated the nonsense of modern harley simping and the show. You can't have her be the butthole, noncaring schizo, villian badass and the hero, moral high ground. It's too many contradictions.

Why the frick did they get middle aged officer worker sounding Chris Parnell as him? Hell, he looks and acts nothing like Deathstroke and in fact could have easily been a male Rose Wilson larping as his father. Craig Boone New Vegas voice or ironically Teen Titan's Robin would have fit so much better.

I'm kind of okay with the idea of characters growing/developing/changing over time.

          Anonymous

to be fair this is supposed to be a younger deathstroke before all that shit that turns him into the common deathstroke we know, him acting and sounding different would make sense.
I mean yeah it's still jarring but if the show lasts long enough to have him develop into normal deathstroke then we can see if it was even worth it starting him out like this.

      >MAWS might as well be Supes and a bunch of Voltron OCs
I honestly don't see the problem with that, but that's maybe because I actually watched and liked Smallville, which is quite similar with the premise MAWS has.
You just switch the villians using the super advanced ancient kryptonian tech with the meteor freaks superpowered with kryptonite scraps.
Hell, they even both have an asian female love interest (Lana and Lois) and a black male best friend (Pete and Jimmy).

MawS is mostly ok. I think anons are giving it too much shit for not being S:tas, but it is a valid take as an AU, and it is honestly far more loyal than other takes Superman has received over the years like Lois and Clark, and Smallville. And for now it is probably still on the realm of things like The Batman and Brave and the Bold.

Harley I thought was passable in Season 1, but it has honestly just gotten steadily worse over time and I say that as someone who is usually not turned off by its politics or humor.

      What plot twist?

      >called the main enemy being Brainiac or Zod when there's a good chance we'll get both
Those are pretty much always Superman's first big hitters.
Brainiac because he usually infodumps him with alien knowledge, and Zod because he is usually the first one who is equal in his powers.

Superman is not muh, but I can see how someone else could like it.
I have absolutely no idea what's there to like about HQ:TAS. It's every terrible "adult" cartoon ever made wearing DC characters as a skinsuit. I have more respect for Paradise PD because at least it's honest about being utter shit from the start instead of lulling me into sense of security by pretending to be a comedy for DC fans.

I don't know which was the "better" show, but I was always intrigued by the alternative viewpoint in HQ.

I don't necessarily like seeing Batman as a pathetic little rich boy simping over Catwoman and accidentally reviving his parents as dangerous zombies, but it's a fresh perspective.

At the same time, the show doesn't go to total bitterness and anarchy. Batman may have weaknesses, but he honestly tries to make things better, at least as far as he can understand it. Harley herself has a streak of anarchy and sadism, but never entirely loses sympathy for other people.
